Ginny (that's my mom's name!).
Your signature indicates August 2009, our cruise is July 18....I hope you are on our cruise....the Mutiny thingy must be explained by one of the techys on this thread....and that I am NOT - far from it!
Tell us about the EB....did you enjoy yourself? I knew some DISers on that cruise also.

I was going to say, "THREE Joanns" would be waaay too many to keep track of. Nope, wasn't my birthday yet - it was our anniversary. I'm a Libra - gotta wait until Oct. 6

Back to school night is tomorrow night here. I just finished hosting an Iftaar for Ramadan. (Burkina is a predominately Muslim country.) Because we are in Ramadan and at the end of the fiscal year, I will have some event every night for the next three weeks. Keep me in your thoughts!!!! :scared1: :scared1:

But not as much as those in the path of Ike! I'll be praying for them! :grouphug:

Good luck the next three weeks..............

Sheesh, eagle eye doesn't miss anything, does she??:lmao: :thumbsup2

I'm free and off a civil case (on a jury since August 27) - just in time!

Let's just say - what attorney (Plaintiff) in their right mind would use his (the plaintiff's attorney) father as an expert witness?????!!!! :scared1:

The advance command center team for John's plant is evacuating to San Antonio - we're leaving as soon as the kids get home from school. I'll report in when I can...
Best wishes, keep us posted!

GL with Ramadan.....isn't that early this year?:confused3 HA not HB!popcorn:: BTSN is over!

We are in San Antonio no problems getting out of Houston last night - just the usual evening rush hour traffic getting around Houston - they just called for a mandatory evacuation due to potential of flooding in our zip code and surrounding areas in Houston beginning at noon. I'm thankful we aren't scrambling to try to leave with everyone else.

Even the dog is enjoying life at the moment with us in the hotel. Even though she is welcome to stay with us in the hotel, she'll go off to "camp" here in SA - later this morning. Abby (dog) is rather fascinated by the horses pulling the carriages around the river walk - our hotel is right next to the Alamo - a beautiful old historic hotel called the Menger.

John's work is taking good care of us - the kids and I'll will probably head out her e in a bit to do some sight seeing, they were small the last time we visited SA.

Virgil, since I'm assuming Nick and Kristin are too busy to DIS this morning, pass the word along that if they end up in SA, give us a call - PM me if they need our cell phone numbers. We'd love to hook up with them!!! (Maybe I'd better say "the kids and I" I'm sure John will be very busy over the next few days)

Monica, I'm so happy you checked in. I'll be watching the weather channel for updates. I wish we would hear from WVSpace Monkey too......
enjoy (?) your time in SA, be safe, I hope everything works out well for you and your family, and your home in Houston. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Please, if you have time, let us know what you are doing, sightseeing, etc.

mickeymo- I'm glad you're in San Antonio and will be safe. You were smart to leave last night. My son filled his car with gas last night. The station was already out of regular and there were lines everywhere. I just heard about the mandatory evacuations for Houston. I don't know what zone my son is in. They live in Spring in Harris County. His house is also on ground level - no basement. My son isn't going to work today. He's putting the furniture up on blocks and getting prepared. My husband's uncle lives un San Antonio and we have friends there so they do have somewhere to go. My daughter-in-law's'friend is visiting from Fla. and is staying with them so they have 3 of them to worry about.

I hope Nick and Kristen are going somewhere safe, too.

Our prayers are with all of you.

I apologize, I forgot about your son and his family....:grouphug:

Prayers and hugs out to EVERYONE in Ike's Path.....'he' doesn't look like a 'friendly' hurricane:scared1: I'm a weather channel watcher and I am constantly watching this one....please, also keep us informed about your family.:grouphug:
Thanks.

Lucy

I believe that Kristin and Nick are enroute to San Antonio.... Thanks for the kind thoughts and prayers for them and all in the path...

Monica - I'll let them know that you are there too....

your son should be" fine" wind, rain and no electricity most likely. Spring on the north side of Houston is well out of the storm surge zones. I dont believe they were ordered to evacuate during rita. We (nick and Kristine too) are in the clear lake Nasa area, b zone ,prime surge in a cat 3.

Thanks. It puts us a little more at ease. They're staying in their house and are stocking up on supplies.

Thanks for all your concern. We're keeping our fingers crossed that it's not as bad as predicted.

-I copied this over from my other cruise thread - I do have to explain since y'all are just getting to know me. In rough times, I try to follow my dad's philosophy, you can either laugh or cry and it's much more fun to laugh. Usually I try to find something to laugh about - I'm trying very hard to laugh...

Yesterday, I was still calm but not today... time is running out for a shift and now I'm panicking! Most models are taking the path directly over our house as well as Nick and Kristin's house. I just have to keep repeating to myself - everything is replaceable, everything is replaceable....

In a quirky sense of humor - least we won't have to rip out and replace the carpeting downstairs - oh yeah, John finally finished painting last weekend - the remodel and repairs from last year's water leak were finally finished - So, this is all his fault

EEEK!!! Now they publish the lists of what to remember to bring - and I forgot all of the important papers/identification etc... sigh... Not helping...

Still more quirky humor what did I bring? Were these really my priorities???!!! - I did grab season 6 of 24 which I had checked out from the library - It's due Monday - I have a sinking feeling it will be late Maybe this is a good time to watch Jack ride in to save the day once again... Oh yeah, and I brought with me the first two discs of the past season of NCIS (netflix)- Mark Harmon is certainly a good distraction...

OK Pity party over - the kids should be awake soon....

once again, please keep us updated...we are sitting here watching the weather channel, I'm so worried for you guys, ALL OF YOU IN THE PATH OF IKE! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

you do have a great sense of humor, but now I must worry about something else - did you bring the passports - you'll need them next year!:scared1:
your overdue tapes...wouldn't worry about it:sad2: :sad2:

Will you be safe in San Antonio? :confused3 You are staying in a hotel? :confused3 Which one:confused3 Trying to think of another positive note - you don't need to cook for awhile:hug:

More info please.:worship: :worship: :worship: :grouphug:

don't worry about us! I wish I could post a picture from my phone. Facebook anyone? BP is command center is at the historic Menger hotel across from the Alamo. The hotel and Bp are taking very. Good care of us! The desserts and cookies are fabulous!
