So, it's now time to acknowledge that there is a four-way tie for Pirate King or Queen of our cruise (which goes with the "mutiny" theme as well!)

Who will be crowned with pirate royalty? So, if you haven't had one yet, we've got 10 months to go.............game on!!!

We also need to hear from more of us for the "10 things about me" list.

Weell, whoops, I did it again! Truly by accident (almost) the pirate race continues........glad to hear that the Hurricane Ike trouble is past and we are in recovery...............we are getting closer to our 10 month countdown........hope all are well as we enter next week...........

Our subdivision regained power yesterday with the exception of a few streets. Our house is one of the few streets without power as of this morning. John is already talking about giving up the refrigerator/freezer as a lost cause - it's 19 years old anyway. I think he doesn't want to clean it.... I don't blame him, that's why I delegated that responsibility to him If a chemical engineer with all of BP's finest minds and resources available for ideas is saying, we need a new refrigerator - we'll never get the smell out - who am I to argue

I can't believe I just figured out that we're pirating every 100 posts - darn, I would have gladly fluffed my way to a pirate while I was sitting by the pool.

Indiana and Ohio today. However, we were fortunate compared to our Gulf Coast friends. We were at the Bengals/Titans NFL game and it was difficult to stand up when I went to the concession stand (yes, I was sober!). It totally blew us all over the interstate driving home. There was a semi totally on its side. Many towns were w/o power making a dinner stop almost impossible. But, finally we found a Taco Bell.... Greater Cincy area had 658,000 homes without power. That is amazing considering there was absolutely NO RAIN at that point...all wind.



Hey Monica...the Bengals are in Houston Oct. 26th, I wish we had made some plans to come there. We will be flying back from Vegas. We should have connected there.

Hey Jenny, We were one of the 658,000 homes without power. It went off about 3,came back on at 10:00. No football games to watch . Of course ,the way the Browns and Who Dey played I did not miss a thing. . Matt runs cross country in Harrison sometime on Saturday, but I think Nancy and I are going to the game. I have never been to Oktoberfest, I HAVE TO DRIVE HOME. Hope everything is o.k. in Texas. This is the first time in 30 years that General Electric CLOSED. , A PAID DAY OFF!!!!!!!

Kristin and Nick made it home - they do have power - but they have a little more damage to their garage than advertised. Overall, they were quite lucky and are thankful. They have friends who just bought a house in Nassau Bay over Labor Day are flooded.... The trees in the backyard are standing - even though it looks like they are leaning.... No broken windows which is amazing given all of the downed branches.

As far as the Bungles are concerned, you didn't miss a thing, in fact, I wish we would have missed it! Give us a call if you go to the game. You still have my cell, right? We sit in 131 JJ. Take the 131/132 aisle and we are about six rows down on the left, aisle seats.

Good Morning! We're still in San Antonio - The Crisis Management Center beginning to wind down - they will probably finish up Thursday and we'll head home Friday. My time at the pool is winding down and the real world will crash in soon enough.

From reading the Houston Chronicle, gas and food supplies are slowly making their way to the region. Galveston has suspended its' "Look and Leave" rules after rescue and repair crews were stuck in miles long traffic.

Our area schools will reopen possibly on Tuesday, many sustained damage or still do not have power - so, we'll have more information as the week goes on. I received an e-mail, Maggie's dance studio has resumed classes. 10 of 40 area YMCAs are now open on a limited schedule due to staffing and curfew (the Y where I work is still closed...)

A friend was able to have a closer look at our house, we've lost some shingles but the tar paper is still intact. The answering machine came back on Monday afternoon, so far so good! I'm anxious to get back, but since supplies are limited, I'm content to stay put for awhile.

Another update from Texas:

Matthew and Leah still don't have power. Matthew's office building in downtown Houston was damaged and is closed. He's hoping to go back to work next week. Leah went back to work. Her office has power.

Matthew said there's very long lines at the grocery store which is running on a generator. You need to show I.D.to get in and they only allow one member per family in.

They're washing their clothes in their sink and hanging them to dry on string in the backyard. They do have a grill so they've been barbecuing every night.

I'm sorry to see the tree come down on Nick and Kristen's garage.

Monica- Glad to hear your power is back on.

Thanks for offering to help Matthew and Leah. That's so kind of you. I spoke to him earlier today and he said they're doing ok right now. He was touched by your concern. He said they just found a Cheesecake Factory about 10 miles north of them that just reopened. They're thrilled and are going there for dinner.

It's great to hear from our Texan friends. This hurricane was quite the mess. The winds I drove in Sunday coming home from Ohio were amazing! I cannot fathom what these families are going through, but I guess they are still together and that's what's important.

Big festival weekend here. I am going over to help set up the games for the Boy Scouts. We have to work at the festival set up tonight and the actual opening tomorrow since we will be out of town Fri-Sun.

Last weekend of baseball season (at least for the Reds) this weekend! Now it's time for the Phillies and Cubs fans to go at it!!! How about it Monica, JoAnn and Lucy????
