July 18 2009 Tortola - Part 2!

My middle DD will be home tomorrow for the weekend, so we're really excited to see her..........ALL of us are..........it's amazing how one kid can keep the rest of us together........who knew how special she is, until she decided to study in FL..........(for 3 years)..........

We need to hear more 4th plans..........keep em coming!!!!

My apologies! A few days ago I posted a link to a music video my brother showed me - he only showed me part of it. I had no idea there was so much foul language!

I liked the part he showed me so much I put it on my ipod. Today at work I was listening to the whole song.

I still like the main part "I'm on a boat, I'm on a boat, a great big beautiful boat...." I also like the part where he has his "flippie floppies".

I remember when I first heard that song. Same reaction.

The smell is incredible. LOVE, LOVE walking thru that store. We don't grocery shop there, but whenever we drive by (about 25 minutes from our home) we stop. EXCELLENT soup/sandwich area. Baked goods ain't too bad either. Also their Chinese bar....yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

We love the Chinese bar too.

We are going to the home of my DH's parents for the weekend of the 4th. They are having a big 50th anniversary celebration on the 3rd. and lucky us, we will be sharing the 2 bathroom house with the in laws and DH's brother with His 4 kids. SO yep 14 people and 2 bathrooms

Phew... Finally finished most of the painting, aside from some quick touch up. The best (and dorkiest part) is that the room has a hidden Mickey.

When I re-did our powder room, I added 9 hidden Mickeys. It is fun to have new people to the house and have someone walking by the bathroom door and hear the person in the bathroom counting......1.....2......etc. Then they yell "I've got #? Did I get them all?" It has made for some interesting looks and conversations.

You know, any other forum on the internet and I'd been laughed at. It's nice to have found a place that's a geeky as I am. Thanks for that!

I hope that she's not going to UCF. Finishing anything there in three years would be some sort of miracle! I've been going for something like six years, now, and I didn't get to take a single class this summer because they simply didn't offer anything.

There is a thread on the budget board about mosquito repellent. Someone said they use Listerine in a small spray bottle and it works for hours. This may be good to bring for Tortola if there are really as many mosquitos as they say.

I've been up since 4:00 am. We had another thunderstorm and the dog was shaking and went under the covers. Needless to say I couldn't go back to sleep.

The FE list in post #1 has been updated. I made screen names bold and the kids blue. Please review and let me know if there are changes that need to be made.

I will be emailing the spreadsheet to those who have requested it. Any updates made after I send it will be fixed and I will resend. It may be later this weekend before I can do the resend. Our foster son is moving out Friday so tomorrow night we have to get him packed (although he's been moving stuff to his mom's for a couple of weeks now). I have to work on Saturday, so it may be Sunday before I get a resend done.

Today and Friday are company holidays for me!! DH has to work.... we are planning on being at the pool and packing for a little vacation we have planned in the next couple of weeks!

BTW, how did you decorate your powder room? Is it Disney themed?

I am definately a "Disney Themed" decorator! There is Disney in EVERY room of our house! Even down to our two cats ~ Mickey and Walt!! There is so much you can buy now... but it's fun to see what can become Disney if you believe in the MAGIC.....

I have Friday off (company holiday) but volunteered to work on Saturday. I'm a manager in a billing call center, I figured the 4th was a great day to pick for my Saturday - who the heck will be calling on the 4th about their insurance bill?? And if someone does the odds of them wanting to talk to a manager are even smaller!

Saturday evening I think our niece and her 2 kids are coming over. They are going to WDW with us. None of them have been there before so it's been fun talking to them. The kids are SUPER excited. They will be eating dinner at the Turf club on Thursday night - is that when the meet is there? They have a 6:40 ADR.

All in all, it's a pretty laid back holiday weekend - we're going on a big vacation the next weekend! I have I told any of you about that?

Whatever 4th of July plans we have will be HOT!!! DS14 is marching in a 4th of July parade, DH is working a 5k race (he's a part-time race photographer), in the evening, we're planning to head downtown to hear the Houston Symphony and see the fireworks.

Gee, everyone's packing... Where y'all going? Can I come too?


I haven't even started thinking about packing. Plus, DD is leaving the 26th for Sea Camp at Texas A&M Galveston, so we have double the packing for her. I haven't even considered cleaning. We've tried cleaning before packing, doesn't work for us. We end up trashing the house as we're packing. So, now I try to clean when we're done. Considering we're usually midnight packers - that doesn't happen either...

Not sure what our plans are for the 4th. DH (scduckman) has to go into work for a little while- end of month and fiscal year for the accountant is super busy. We may head to the pool for a little while on Sat.
