DD does PreAp or AP for everything except English. PreAP had over 10 EXTRA books of reading required this year - with KatyISD seeming to want to play football longer than most districts, I say fine, you don't have to do all that extra reading. Out top two kids have 4.8 and 4.9 out of a 4.0 (yes, I did type 4.0) in the class of 2009 this year - so she will not even have a chance to be in the top 10, but.... I don't have to nag about reading a book....

Thankfully, CCISD scaled back the reading for this year - each kid is reading two books and only journaling the books. Thankfully, the books are all I've want to read, or read again. I'm all set for my summer reading!!! :cool1:

I've updated the FE list in post #1 - there are now 32 cabins participating. Joann #2, you have 2 cabins listed, will you have 2 FE's or one?

I have three including my DD and my parents. I still have to get their room number for the list. My DD is actually in Brooklyn, so she'll represent that area.(NY)

Ok, I want to get this correct so please bear with me.... You have 3 cabins, one for you & Ken, another for Tara & Jeremy, and a 3rd for your parents (do I have thier names yet?), is this correct? Then what cabin is Jessica & Jack going to be in? I'm not sure if that matters or not, guess it depends on how people are doing the FE gifts. What I'm saying is that I'm not trying to be nosey, I just trying to get the information as accurate as I can. :yay:

Is anyone shipping their FE gifts ahead of time? I've never sent anything to the ship, not sure how to do this. I'd hate for them to not make it but they are kind of heavy and may be a packing problem.

I must share our horrible, awful week with you. I was going to spare you the details but yesterday it became too much and now I feel the need to get it all out.

Tuesday evening an ambulance went past our house and around our corner (we live on a corner), it stopped VERY soon after turning the corner. I went to our deck but couldn't see it. I saw the reflection of the flashing lights on the neighbors car. There are 2 houses behind us with kids then the 3rd house is an elderly woman. I figured it was for her or the elderly couple across the street for her. Wrong. Wednesday night as soon as we got home from lacrosse practice my neighbor right behind us called. The ambulance was for little Jack who lives on the other side of them. He was 4. His dad gave him carrots for a bedtime snack, he choked on one. His dad got it out, then Jack vomitted and aspirated on the vomit. He was on life support until Friday when they did organ donation. Only 4. Its so sad. Noah played with him pretty often (they have a big trampoline in their yard).

Yesterday, Bill got a call from his principal. Friday night a car full of kids had an accident. One girl was dead at the sceen, another is critical, a boy is serious, and the other 3 are in good condition. They were all 15 & 14 yrs old. The boy driving was only 15. Bill spent most of yesterday afternoon calling staff members to let them know and today he has a crisis meeting so they can learn how to help the kids deal with this.

Just too much death and sadness for one week. You have no idea how badly I need this vacation!

Just got off the May 23rd cruise, I will give honest answers to all questions

The Man

Noahsmom:

I pray for peace for the immediate families, and guidance for the teachers and counselors as they deal with grief. For the neighbors/friends, I also pray for guidance and peace. For your husband, wisdom as he has to coordinate when to say what to whom.

For the families that received the organ donations, I pray that they will someday in heaven they will get to meet the young boy that has given them a chance to live further in their life.

Well said. How very sad for so many people.

Jess is with us; Jack is with Tara and Jeremy; My parents (Alice and Bill "albil") have their own cabin and they're from NJ. They'll be doing their own FE gifts as well.:goodvibes

That is a horrible week. We will keep these families in our thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to hear of your news..............

THANKS!! I thought I was missing someone from the list, I do have your parents on it - just didn't make the connection. :rotfl:

Thanks to all of you for your kind words and warm thoughts. It's so hard to look out our bedroom window (2nd floor) and see Jack's toys in the yard. I can't imagine how hard it is for his parents. :grouphug:

I know this is an illness and I should get help. But maybe my illness will help others. I broke down the kids in the FE exchange (gotta love Excel). Here's how it breaks down:

30 kids (under age of 20)
4 boy
11 girls
5 teen age boys
10 teen age girls

Don't feel bad. :lovestruc I adopted your spreadsheet idea and have now divided each cabin by what I need to put in each bag. Now I can just take the spreadsheet to the market next week to make sure I get exactly how many items I need of each thing. (Of course, I'll buy a few extra just in case there are last minute additions.) :thumbsup2
