My DD did the same, she actually came into hs with 4 credits since she also took PreAp World Geo between 8th and 9th grade summer. I'm not sure how your HS and jr high are, but here she did NOT get the same final the hs did - the jr high teacher wrote his own final. Might end up being a saving grace for you if DS teacher does the same?
The project the kids had to do was write a game in Java using gridworld (the AP case study code) Using that code, they had a major portion already worte. They worked in groups of 2. This group of 2 did more talking/goofing around in class then working for three weeks, so the father complained that his student worked at home for many days straight to get this done (where was the partner?), and yes, the father knew the game did not work properly (it was a game of snake, but the snake NEVER grew, or died correctly). His student had one excuse after the other as to why it did not work...... but the father was sure after hearing that his student worked so hard for several weeks at home, I would understand and raise the grade.
My DD got an 89 for a semester grade in an AP class that she took... I would no sooner think to write the teacher and ask her to bump it up one point... how fair is that to the kids who earned an A in the class....
What are parents thinking? What are they teaching their child?
Ah, see you are being rational - There's the difference between parents believing the kids are given grades rather than earned...

Unfortunately, it'll be at least a departmental final if not a district final - not sure which. Same with Pre-AP Spanish. If all goes well, he'll have 2 1/2 credits. The district has started on-line classes. He could take two classes this summer (Pre-AP World Geo and Health) but we'll be on the cruise during the scheduled on-site final exam. Anyway, with 6 weeks of marching band practice over the course of this summer, I really didn't want to saddle him with more school. Hopefully, he'll still earn the HS credit with a C...We're not sure how all this works...
We're frustrated with his other HS credit course, Career Connections - supposedly a career explorations class. 20% of his grade was to develop a business plan. The rubrix was so detailed, he could have submitted it to the nearest bank for a loan application.

DH has an MBA, and he was complaining it was similar to what he put together in school. I have a BA in business, and I know we did the same for our senior project. Anyway, with both of us consulting, on initial read-through the teacher would have given Mike an 85...
