Finally got our shirts and everything ordered last now all I've got to do is our online check in, print our door signs and pack.

The way this week has gone nothing should surprise me anymore but i think today actually did me in. It started with one of my little girls connecting site for her feeding tube falling out in my hand. I am alone in the classroom when this happened thank goodness we have cameras in our classrooms and our director just happen to be watching my room. Then while i was with the awake kids during nap I had to fish not one but two crickets out of a little boys mouth. Not a fun experience to say the least. I'm ready for the weekend.

I could never teach high school students they talk back way to much and most are taller than me. My students are a handful to say the least but there is that time during the day during nap when they all look like angels. There are also great moments like early this morning when i was getting a little boy off the bus. Up until today he had never said a word as I reached up to take him from the assistant on the bus he said hi. To say the least we were both a little shocked. It's those moments that make the rest of the day doable. Of course we always joke that we need hazard pay due to flying objects and other attacking children.

I love love love my high school kids - but I teach computer science so my kids want to be in the class, which I think makes a huge difference. Plus, a good portion of mine are taking the AP exam at the end of the year for college credit, so I really push my kids. I hate to lose them at the end of the school year.

My DD32 teaches first grade - now I would probably end up in a place that gives you three meals day and a free bed if I taught at that level... how she does it, I just don't know.

I've brought a few bottles with me and it was no problem. That's the best way to save money on drinks.

I DO like my high school kids too, EXCEPT a few of them today - bomb scare at our school, had to evacuate high school, middle school, and the elementary school (they are very close to each other) because the 'note' read TWO schools would 'go up' at 12 noon. we were outside for 2 hours (thank goodness it was a nice day)...many of our kids got sunburned today. My job? escorting kids, 10 at a time, to our fire company, about a block away, to use the bathroom. (one of the moms told me tonight her daughter told her that I was the coolest mom - I allowed them to use my cell phone to call their moms to tell them they were alright).....our school has a strict policy about not using cell phones during school, but I just felt these kids should call their moms, I would have wanted to be called. It was very tense in our school before we evacuated....you could hear a pin drop, cops everywhere, kids held in classes, and me just standing in the hallway wondering what the heck was going on. When i got home today, I took a nap, i was exhausted from the stress of it all.

Tonight i just got home from my son's last concert of the year - was held in our community park. It is 9:00 and way past my bedtime! I'm working again in the high school office for the next two days - must be in at 7 AM....hope the excitement is OVER!

OMgosh - we had the same thing (only our HS was not by anything else) about 5 years ago - we were outside almost the FULL afternoon, but it was a nice fall day - I would never want to go through that day again! I am soooo sorry you had to go through it today.

We have an emergency management flip chart, so when something like that happens, we normally hear "Teachers, the committe decided that the play will start at 3pm) Which means go to the flip chart and look on page 3 to see what is happening and what to do - and check our email right away.

We at some point get the kids out to the other side of the parking lot. Now what gets me - I have seen (on TV only) a building with a bomb going off in it - no one would be safe at that distance.... why does no one think about things like that????

I hope tomorrow and the rest of the week goes better (BTW - they did find that guy who called in the bomb threat that day).

Good Morning Everyone! DH had to be at work early today, I'm up drinking coffee and DISing on the laptop. I do have a 7 am client, so I can't be too lazy.

Thought I was in a parallel universe yesterday. Both cruise threads were talking about transporting alcohol. What's everyone's plans for the weekend?

We'll be busy - Mike has his 8th grade party all day tomorrow at Incredible Pizza - think Chucky Cheese for the teen set. Tomorrow afternoon and evening Maggie has the beginner band pool party and concert. Saturday, the 7th and 8th grade band members are celebrating at a water park.

Sunday is Maggie's birthday - she's taking 3 friends to the Y to swim (water slide, splash zone, etc...) then back to our house for a family crawfish boil and bbq. All of her close friends are family friends with 8th grade brothers who are best friends; she enjoys celebrating her birthday with everyone.

Sometime in there we have to do an incredibly long, detailed business plan for an 8th grade exploratory careers class. Dh complains that it is everything that was required in his MBA project, the rubrix is over 5 pages long!!! I can honestly say, I wish I had his rubrix, when I put together a business plan in my business strategy class in college 20 years ago! We always guide the kids never doing - but, this is definitely going to take parental involvement, researching and compiling the information!!! As a teacher's daughter, I am very supportive of teachers - but, this project is above and beyond ridiculous!!! Plus, it's 20% of his grade!!!

It doesn't help he was given two weeks to work on this project and assumed he could do it all in school - so when asked if he had homework, he was answering "No..."

June 4th can't get her soon enough!!!!!!

Matt is working field day at his old elementary school. He has tomorrow off because of an unused snow day. He is marching in the Memorial Day parade on Monday. And the swim club opens this weekend. I hope it will be warm enough to at least go sit by the pool. I know the water will be too cold to go in (I wish I were at Castaway Cay).

Today is a local holiday here. But school was still in session - so I spent a couple hours in the girls' classrooms and then came home to start organizing for the move.

Every time I start - I get overwhelmed....But somehow I'll get through this!

As a former parent of a school age kid, I learned to NEVER assign a big project late in the school year(I teach 4th grade.) I'll never forget the year of the "Me Mag" when my middle DD was 11. I think it had like 40 sections and they were all assigned in May in the heart of softball season. I know exactly how you feel!

We're going to the shore and the "baby," (19 today) has invited about 10 college students to come down. I only have 3 beds and a pull-out couch. This should be interesting, so much for the "empty nest!"

I like this definition. It's like someone else said why does my car need to be involved in his/her school project?

I'm not sure what I hate more projects at the end of the year or summer reading with Cornell notes? Last summer my DS ended up with 44 pages of notes for one book out of the two. And I know the teacher didn't read it. She is a full time HS teacher who collected notes from all her students on Tues. and returned them all by Fri. I wanted so badly to put a chicken recipe in the middle of his paper to prove that nobody would even see it.

I've already ordered all the books they will both need for the summer. I want one out of the way before school lets out.

I got the kids' summer reading books last weekend. I'm looking forward to stealing their books this summer. Mike, my incoming 9th grader is reading Timeline by Michael Crichton and The Kitchen Boy Maggie, my incoming 7th grader is reading. Bad Storm Rising and The Outsiders They don't have to do anything until the fall, although it's highly recommended they journal. There may be tests or papers in the fall.

I'm sitting at the computer, trying to "help" doing a bunch of the preliminary research for his business plan. I swear this plan is so detailed, he could take it to a bank and start his own business by the time he's finished. He has to do a Market and Competition analysis, Loan Application, Capital Funding, Personal Credit information, letters of intent from prospective custormers, rental agreements, legal documents, marketing data, floor plans, and the list goes on. I'm having nightmares from my snior Business Strategy Class I wish I had this list when I put together my group project for that class, we would have earned a much higher grade - and we had 2 months to put it together!
