gifts are for families and not for person, is that right

New to DIS and cruising. Can someone explain this to me - how many? For kids and adults or 1 per family? Bbring them to the meet and greet?

I'm never home so not sure how UPS will find me - do they come UPS in the states as well or just regular mail?

So many questions, so little time!

Wendy

I believe that the gifts are 1 per family and I think I will be giving mine out at the meet and greet which has been arranged, so I must remember and put them in my carry on bag.

The cruise docs which I received today were not very interesting but at least this means the cruise is getting closer. Only 17 days until Barcelona and 20 days until the cruise

Hope you all have a Magical day pixiedust:

Welcome to everyone new. Can't believe we leave in 17 days for barcelona. Doing the happy dance:cool1:. Haven't received our cruise docs yet hopefully soon. Do they come by UPS or regular mail in the US? We are doing one gift per a stateroom. I've got to get a few more. I'm going to be putting them in my carryon so I will have them for the meet and greet. Hope everyone has a great day.

I called on Monday and was told they would arrive 7-10 days before sail date. It seemed a little tight to me but who knows. Anyone else call and check??

Wendy :woohoo:

Really, the documents coming in the mail mean just about absolutely nothing these days. If you have printed out everything on the DCL website, you have everything you need except luggage tags.

Besides the luggage tags, there is nothing of importance anymore in them.

IMHO!

Hello everybody ,

My name is Tiems, I am from the Netherlands.
I am also going on the cruise of the 18th and really looking forward !! :cool1:

Does anybody have any tips en do's and dont's on a disney cruise ?

I also wanted to book an excursion to go to Ferrari, but it was already fully booked.:confused3 Is there something to do about this, or do I just have to accept this ? Does anybody have experienced this as well ?

Greetings,

H. Tiems

Welcome Teims,

Glad you have joined us! I am in the same situation with an excursion in Villefranche. I talked to Disney and they said to keep checking back, as people will change their minds about excursions. They also told me to check with the excursion desk when we get on board. Have a great day.

After having looked at my documents today I would completely agree with you, the only useful thing is the luggage tags, the rest I could have done without. It did get me excited receiving them as it made me realise how close we are to cruising :dance3:

Tiems :welcome: to the thread. It is great to know you are cruising with us. Are you cruising with anyone?

My name is Andrea and I am cruising with my DD who is 11 1/2.

The only do I can think of right now is to have a Magical Time and have lots of fun.

Keep trying for your excursion. If you can't get in before the cruise visit the excursion desk on embarkation day once you board as I believe they sometimes keep spots available.

So nice to meet you all! I booked our two private tours today and am soooo excited. As long as they e-mail me back with a confirmation!:surfweb: Is it just me, or does everyone else feel like they are spending their life on the computer trying to plan and investigate???

As far as the gifts go, can someone explain the guidelines/instructions? Great idea, but no clue...:confused3

Angie and Cindy, really looking forward to meeting you since we are all on the same deck and have boys the same ages. Our 11 year-old is a little nervous about being on a cruise and flying transatlantic, so it will be nice to meet some kids the same age.

Well, time to get ready for date night! Going to see Bruce Willis and some Die Hard. Guess that really tells you how old I am huh?

Hello Everybody

:welcome: to Barcelona Teims

I received email from dcl show below:

6/28/07

Dear Deborah,

Thank you for booking a Disney Cruise Line Vacation!

The itinerary for 10-Night Mediterranean Cruise sailing on July 18,
2007, has been modified due to port congestion. By swapping the days you
will visit Villefranche and Marseilles, this will provide you a premier
experience in these ports of call.

Below is the recommended attire for your cruise itinerary and is subject
to change:

10-Night Mediterranean cruise:
*Nights 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 10: cruise casual
*Night 2: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for
women: gown or dress
*Night 8: pirate night with deck party
*Night 9: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit.

As always, though, for the most up-to-date information, please check
your Personal Navigator once onboard.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you again! Have a Magical Day!

Ok I have two questions. First does anybody have any type of food allergy? One of the items I'm bringing is a food item and I don't want to give ya'll something that may harm you.
Second does anybody know if you can fedex or ups something to your hotel in Barcelona? The one item I'm bringing is kind of delicate and I don't want it to get smushed. Thanks!!!

Diana - that's what is so nice about meeting people on the DISBoards before sailing - it gives you someone that you've gotten to know or at least 'met' online before going on the cruise, and it's a great place to get ideas, etc.

Where are you flying from? We'll be flying from Atlanta to Barcelona, leaving on the 16th. Thankfully it's a non-stop flight which takes some of the worry away for me :)

As for gifts, there is a thread on the main board and you can also skim through some of the other meet threads - particularly those with loads of pages (hey - we're getting up there - 64 pages already!) If you go to the first page of this thread, there is a link to the most updated list of DISers on our cruise so you can get an idea of how many families will be there. Again, don't feel obligated - it's just a nice thing to do. I'm excited about meeting so many of you because we are getting good representation from several countries / areas and that will be so fun to meet people from other places.

We'll have to be sure to get someone to take a group picture of us at the Meet.

Welcome, Tiems! Glad to have you joining us! Feel free to post an introduction about your traveling party and any pre-cruise plans you have. Will you be staying in Barcelona the night before? How far of a trip is it from the Netherlands to Barcelona?

As for tips for Disney Cruises, well, it's amazing. Relax and have a great time. Be ready to be entertained and well cared for. Before we made our first cruise with Disney Cruise Line, I read a lot on the DISBoards to learn about the ship and what to expect, and I was glad I did. I think in the Sticky at the top of the main Cruise Line forum, one of the stickies has a link to a "best of" tips... if not, i'm sure you can scroll through and find them.

Deborah = thanks for posting the info from DCL.

I was looking at pirate gear yesterday but still haven't decided if we'll bring something or just use our bandanas from dinner.

Lissa - no food allergies here. And I'm sure you can ship something to your hotel - email them and ask for specifics.

I've been catching up on all the posts from the past few days. You guys have been busy. Our cruise docs arrived today and ditto the sentiment about the lack of pizazz in document presentation. I remember back when we went on an inaugural sailing on the Magic, how impressed we all were with the documents. :goodvibes Even the docs for one of the DVC member cruises were fancier than these. Like Linda mentioned, everything is done online now, so really nothing for the cruise lines to waste their money printing.

After reading some of the blogs from the 11 night just ended, I am reconsidering Villefranche and Marseille excursions. Have contacted Revelation tours in Villefranche. They will match you up with other cruisers interested in doing a private tour. :grouphug: If anybody else is looking to do a private excursion in VF please don't hesitate to PM me and maybe we can decide on a mutual tour. It sounds like VF can either be a docked port or a tender port. Guess it depends on how many ships are there the day we are.

I get the impression that Marseille is a docked port, so that makes me think I might cancel my DCL tour and maybe we'll just do our own thing. (Sleep? :lmao: )

I have started putting our cruise clothes on the bed in the extra bedroom, picked up another outfit for myself too. I just need to decide on my evening/formal/semi-formal/pirate clothes now. :pirate: Also picked up our Euros from the bank today. DH is charging our international cell phone and is supposed to call our health insurance company to double check things with them. :confused3

So it sounds like we will be exchanging our DIS board gifts at the meeting prior to the safety drill huh? Fine with me. Oh, and we don't have any food allergies either. (except for SEE food :lmao: ) Did you all know that you don't gain weight on a cruise, the salt water shrinks your clothes! :rotfl:

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Sandy

For those of you that had a Gty cabin status, when did you receive your cabin assignment ? Was anyone upgraded ? Thanks and excuse me for butting in, we're on the Aug 8 med cruise. :rolleyes1

yeah, but of course nobody will cancel this.. So I think I must forget about this fantastic trip.. We really were looking forward to it, me and my son..

By the way : is it neccesary to bring a suit ? Or is it always just casual clothing, even for dinner ? :laundy:

Greetings , Tiems

The Netherlands, Amsterdam , Europe are only about 2 hours of flying from Barcelona. so that will be no problem. We are staying on one of the lower decks, in cabin 2163 if I remember correctly, with my wife ans son of 7 and daughter of 5 years. We will leave for Barcelona on the 14th of july, stay in an nice hotel near the beach. Also have some time to see Barcelona. A really great city, lots to see and lots to do.

I'll be reading a lot from now, see if I can pick up some nice things form the earlier 63 (:scared: ) pages ...

Thanx, greetings.
