Ok, ladies I am having clothing issues for my 6 year old DS. Here is my dilema, he has a very difficult foot to fit (Narrow heal, wide foot) He also is very picky on how they feel. So at this point the only half way dressy shoe he wears is a brown sandal. If I can't find a "dressy" shoe for him in time that meets his approval do you think I can get away with letting him wear the sandals for dinners? Or is that totally a fashion "don't"? We have cruised before but never with our kiddos. :confused3 Also, those of you with boys what are you dressing them in for formal and semi-formal night? For those of you with little girls do they bring any of their princess dresses with them and dress up? My 4 year old wants to dress up as snow white sooooo bad! Thanks for all of your fashion advice girls!!!

Hi Kathleen

Look like same problem as my ds.

I have problem with my ds as cannot get shoes for him. But he got new sandals which fit him prefect but gym shoes and trainer shoes still too tight. As he have a wide feet. I took him to shoes shop called Clark which is very good shoes for the kids. Unfortunately none shoes fitted:mad: School holiday start this Friday so maybe look around for new trainer shoes.

I think sandals should be fine for dressing up depend how comfortable also remember the heat too.

My dd got heap of new shoes as she is no problem with shoes/sandals. Too many so I have to think which one to take for the Cruise as she have dress and shoes to match well!! She have a Cinderella dress (see the photo) I am not sure if I bring it for the Cruise?

I heard the shoe patrol will not be on our cruise, so personally, I think you need to go with what works best for your son! Sandals should be fine. Besides, once he sits down in the dining room, no one is going to see his feet anyway! You will find everything from one end of the spectrum to the other. My only thought was, I hope that the sandals are comfortable enough for him and that he won't get blisters if he does alot of walking in the ports.

For the girls, YES, let her dress up as Snow White! I long for the days that my daughter dressed up and got character pictures in matching outfits. Just doesn't happen anymore now that she is a teenager!

For this cruise, comfort is the key. I am really limiting my clothes and shoe selections for this cruise. You will probably see me mixing and matching alot at dinner. I will probably wear the same pair of black dress pants at least 3 times on the cruise. I'm only going to switch out the top. Oh, and don't forget sweaters, the dining rooms to me are always cold, especially Animator's Palate!

Thanks girls! I will definitely pack a sweater for dinners. I am always cold. Ok, my ds will just wear his sandals for dinner and mom will quit stressing about it.
I did find him a super comfortable pair of beach/walking sandals for the excursions from www.landsend.com. (Deborah, I thought you might like to look at them for your ds as they come in wides. They have a good selection for girls and boys and are resonably priced.) So he has a dress pair and a walking pair.

Thanks again,
Kathleen

Kathleen,

I hope there won't be any shoe police because my ds has Fred Flintstone feet like his mother and will be wearing sneakers.. formal night for him is just going to be a blazar.. coordinating pants..

PLEASE let your daughter dress up.. That's what it's all about. I adore seeing the little girls embrace their inner princess...

I just noticed a schedule change when I logged into my cruise reservation. It now shows Villefranche on Day 8 (July 25) and Marseille on Day 9 (July 26). Originally (including yesterday) it showed Marseille on Day 8 (July 25) and Villefranche on Day 9 (July 26). It appears these two port days have been switched.

Given I had a private tour scheduled in Villefranche this will need to be rescheduled. I am wondering why I have not heard anything from Disney about this?

I thought I should warn anyone else who has a private or non-Disney excursion planned in one of these two ports.

Has anyone else noticed that it looks like Disney switched the dates we'll be in Marseille & Villefranche? Originally we were going to be in Marseille on July 25 & Villdfranche on the 26th & now it's the opposite. Important to know, especially if you are booking a private tour one of those days (like I am!). I hope my tour guide is still available on the new date b/c I was really looking forward to our tour of the Luberon region of France!

I was wondering when we will be exchanging dis gifts? I am trying to figure out if I need to pack them in our "day bag" or in our regular suitcase. I was trying to be really creative and bring something from Oklahoma but everything I have found is pretty dorky so the pirate theme has won over. :cutie:

I wonder why they would switch the day we go to those ports, Deborah let us know if dcl responds to your email. I am getting so excited, it is getting sooooooo close!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a wonderful day, I am off to the gym, I have 5 more pounds to go so I have room to grow while I am on the MAGIC.

i'm not reading too much about this because i was looking for someona who speak spanish or something because my wife doesn't speak english , she is learning because our trips to disney, but is difficult for her to understand you and have a conversation, so that's why.

are you going to have a meeting? where and when?

you are going to buy gifts, is that right?

we are going to go by our own in the excursions, what about you? private tours?

thank you for teeling us about the change with the days.

are you going to have a meeting? where and when?
Yes, we will meet at Promenade Lounge one hour before fire drill on 18th July

you are going to buy gifts, is that right?

Gifts are optional, but what we usually do is buy some small item from party store or something that we can share with everyone. I've seen people also give a small item specific to where they are from. Some of our friends from the UK gave us a really great bookmark with landmarks from where they live.

we are going to go by our own in the excursions, what about you? private tours?
We are doing a combination of both. We are going to take the train into Rome and do it on our own. We are also looking at a private company in Pisa/Florence. We also have some of our tours booked with Disney.

thank you for teeling us about the change with the days.

Me too! Had no idea. Need to find out what DCL is doing! Can't wait to meet on board!

My guess is that Disney is switching the days in France b/c Villefranche sponsors fireworks the evening in that port so Disney figured they could save some money & not do the fireworks 2 days in a row. That would mean that Pirates would be in Villefranche. This is only a guess though. We'll have to wait to see what Deborah finds...

seaulater - Yes, we were on the May '05 Panama crossing - it was FABULOUS! Cabin 7570... Our table mates were Jim, Ronde, Nick and Kaylie - they live in Arizona (don't want to put last names on the board). Jim is the crazy man who at the art auction, purchased a piece of the Canal that maintenance salvaged from the damage where the ship hit the canal walls... They had mounted this 5" piece of concrete on a plaque with an inscription plate with the ship name, date, time, etc. Jim was the one I got the Med updates from.

colleenlg - Our daughter Jamie is 7, going into 2nd grade next year. I can't wait to meet you and compare San Diego stories.

shortkathleen and scottishwee35 - Definitely bring the princess dresses! The girls typically wear them to dinners and Jamie wore hers on formal night for our pictures, it was so cute! The challenge is deciding which one(s) to bring... princess:

Last tip that I forgot on previous post - since most of the shore excursions are so early, our friend Jim highly recommended early dining - if not, the late seating meals last until 10-something then you are quite challenged getting much sleep...

And FYI - if you want a good read (and can put up with some mild language), there is a current blog from the June 16 11-day. The site is largelyignored (preface with www and end with com).

Oh, how could we forget that one. I think it went for around 10K? Funny thing..........our friend Michael, was one of the first ones off the ship at the first port after the canal. The crew was spray washing the ship and re-painting from the scratches and he picked up.......yes, just picked up off the ground a piece of the canal for FREE!

We told him he should mount it on a plaque and sell it. He actually got his picture taken with the captain and Michael was holding the piece of the canal.

I like the cost of his piece alot more! Hope Jim is enjoying his! :lmao:

Just counted the days and realized we leave for Barcelona in 18 days. I can't believe it is that close. My brother Matt is be a big pain he is refusing to let us celebrate his b-day on the cruise. He has actually threatened to throw us over board if we even mention it. So I guess we will have to do something before we go. I can't wait to meet all of ya'll! Just a warning we all have a pretty heavy southern accent. I can be hard to understand if I am talking fast. If I make no sense ask me to repeat and slow down.

My travel agency confirmed with Disney that for our sailing, the Villfranche and Marsaille ports are swapped due to overcrowding/overbooking at Villefranche for that Thursday. Apparantly the cruise line will be sending passengers some sort of notification (but FYI were not planning to notify travel agents ?!?).

I wonder if something special is happening at Villefranche that day that is resulting in the overcrowding? Luckily we have all Disney excursions so we don't have to do any rearranging.

Tomorrow I'm off to one of the biggest malls in the US to get some more shopping done! Does everybody have everything picked up? I find I am always discovering more I need to get for the trip.

I'm very excited for the sailaway party, too! It'll be a unique experience to have everything in the evening as it is usually during day time hours.

In the meantime, I'm doing my happy dance! :cool1:
