Does anyone know the schedule yet for dinners each night (formal, semi-formal, Pirates, etc.)? What exactly is Pirates night? A party where everyone dresses like Pirates? What else? Is it worth keeping a 2-y-old up late for? What time do such parties start?

Thanks for your help!pirate:

Colleenig-

The pirate of the Caribbean party is a lot of fun. It originated as a celebratory party on one night while in the Caribbean. Many people dress in costume- either a pirate costume or a caribbean shirt/dress, but you certainly do not have to. I saw really cool pictures of families all dressed as pirates-we intend to try that this year.

The evening starts with a themed dinner and pirate bandanas at dinner. The party starts kind of late but is a lot of fun daning and then a skit starring Mickey mouse and pirates. There is a firework display off the back of the Magic at the end of the party.

After that they offer a pretty fabulous dessert buffet.

Is it worth keeping a two year old up-perhaps not. Definitely worth it for my 5 and 8 year olds last year.

Hope this helps-Angie

We are booked at the Hilton Diagonal Mar for $225 with breakfast for two. We booked it directly through hilton, but it is a "disney hotel" $500 seems very expensive...

We have late dinning. But with my teen and almost teen boys it works out well for us.:hippie:

Hi Angie

That right.

We had a great times at Pirate last year and my son was at the club and refused to come out so this time I must take him and let him to see it. I brought the pirates clothes but I didn't dress it up as my husband and daughter did dress up so this time we all will dress up.

Don't miss it but not sure about 2 years old as it was loud music, dancing and fireworks. I wonder if the nursery is opening at night time? If so, why not booking it for a couple hour and you both will enjoy it?

Just thought.

Hi Kathleen

That is great, saving your money!!

I think it is better to flying out on 17th July than 18th July. I have booked the room for our in law at Grand Marina for 17th July well.

We booked air, hotel and transfers through DCL. I know the hotel (Atenea Mar) is more through DCL than if we had done it on our own, but the air fare is considerably less than when I've priced the same flights on our own. So for us, the convenience factors in tremendously. I just hate that we have to have two rooms... I'd rather we all stayed together.

I notice on another thread that Todds34 received their room assignment yesterday for their guarantee state room. Anyone else get assigned yet? We are still patiently waiting here...

Oops sorry I meant to post on this thread too!!!!!

I had a GTY cat 6 cabin and was assigned cabin 5144 a couple of days ago :dance3: . I was hoping for a plexiglass balcony but got an enclosed one instead but at least it is a balcony.

Only 39 days to go I can't believe it, that is only 5 weekends (including this one) to get organised so I better get my skates on as I have a weekend spa break at Stobo Castle on the 22/06 and next weekend is our local gala day on the Saturday and Iam doing the Cancer Research Race for Life (in honour of my dearest Mum) on the Sunday.

Hope everyone has a good weekend

Andrea

Hi Andrea

I have heard about Stobo Castle as it is beautiful place. Also I lost my mum and dad, both died of Cancer. That was long times ago. I still missed them.

Good for you to Race for Life as my friend did it last two weeks ago at Glasgow run for life well.

The weather is lovely today.:)

No, I checked this morning on DCL, no room assignment, yet.

This is the first time we have booked through DVC with points and got a guaranteed status on our category 11. We have never been upgraded when using DVC, only when we have paid for a guaranteed with cash. I am anxious to see if we remain in a cat. 11 or if we somehow get an upgrade. I want to prove everyone's theory wrong with DVC that you NEVER get an upgrade.

Okay, back to making more trip plans!

I saw on one of the trip reports / excursions threads that both Rome and La Spezia (Florence / Pisa) have some new excursions offered - including the option to hire a private driver / tour guide. You fill out a request form and attach it to an email. I just filled it out for La Spezia - that may be the answer to what we want to do for Florence and Pisa.

Just thought I'd mention it if anyone else hadn't seen it but was interested.

We are staying at the Rivoli Ramblas as it was highly recommended and I got a great price.

We booked through Spainbookers.com and were pleased with their service thus far. We also saw this hotel available on Orbitz.com too. After the cruise we are booked at the Renaissance Marriot at the Airport which also looks great at a discounted price.

We will arrange our own transportation either with taxis or towncars, not sure which yet.

Carol,
We are also booked at the Renaissance Hotel Airport for 1 night post cruise. Not sure if we'll do much in town that day or just kind of veg out and rest after the grueling days of shore excursions.

Aren't you the one that has booked most of your excursions privately? If so, who did you use for Naples? I'm waiting on a couple of quotes to come back on Naples tours, just really would rather see it without being on a big tour bus:rolleyes1

Our 3 nights pre-cruise we are staying at the Hotel Inglaterra, booked it on the hotels website and got 1 night free. It looks really neat, so I'm very anxious to see it..

Looking forward to our pre-safety drill get together. :grouphug:

Hi Linda,
It will be interesting to see if you get upgrade. We too booked with DVC points in Cat. 11 (over a year ago). I called DVC last week to see about upgrade possibility and she said we didn't have enough points, we'd have to cancel one of us out on points, then pay cash for that person and use redeposited points for upgrade???? She never mentioned anything about us possibly getting a "guaranteed" upgrade from Cat.11. Besides she was GROUCHY TOO!

I might call back on Monday and try the guarantee approach this time.

Sandy

Hi All-

Cindy-

I checked with Disney and the price for their private tours was outrageous! I found a company in Italy that seems legitimate and had decent prices. They pick you up at the boat at both Rome and Florence stops and take you to the cities. They coordinate with you to make sure that you see what you want to see. Let me know if you want more info. We are using them for Rome.

I looked into getting a private driver for one of the tours & the cost was over $1000! Ummmm....no thanks! I'm going to look into getting a private tour (not through DCL) in one or two or the ports though...

We got our room assignment. I called the other day about something else & they told me my room had been assigned. Booked a category 7 & got a category 7. Hmmph. Was hoping for an upgrade too!

Since I just booked this in late April, 2007, I think that is why I got the "guaranty" status. funny thing though, I was on DCL's website at the same time while DVC had me on hold. I looked for my favorite cat. 11 stateroom "6067" which is midship and was available so I asked DVC to snag that for me. When the DVC person came back, they said DCL couldn't give me a stateroom because they were booked, and therefore I could only get the "guaranty" status. Crazy, huh? Guess if I paid cash via the website I could have gotten the room I wanted. Now I'll just wait til they assign rooms.

Oh my! That's more than I want to pay! Although our all-day tour of Florence and Pisa was going to cost us about $650. I'll wait and see what response we get back from DCL for the 4-hr and 8-hr at La Spezia. We're just pretty stuck with needing go through DCL for DS#1's sake. I've about convinced DH to skip Florence :)
