Hi everybody,
Here's a link to the arrival of the "Magic" in Barcelona. The language is French, but there are some very nice pictures on it. Enjoy!

http://www.dlrp.fr/actualites_disney-cruise-line-mediterranean-magic-barcelone_1523.html

I have a video of the Magic's arrival in Barcelona Thursday PM with the fireworks show. I missed just a little bit of it on video because I ran out of space, but deleted something else and got the end segment. I was thinking I could possibly post it on Utube this weekend and give a link so at least people could get an idea of what it was like. It was an awesome fireworks show. Rachel (Cruise Director) told us it was two to three times the amount of fireworks that they used for the fireworks at Magic Kingdom each night.

I'll see if I can get something posted when I am home this weekend and will let everyone know the link if I can get it to work.

Like many of you, I've been reading the blogs / trip reports of others who are cruising this week. On Deb's blog, she has a review of Jumping Back into Eternal Rome which is one of the excursions we've picked, so it was really nice to see and read about the excursion. She mentioned that deciding what to do for Rome was the hardest port - I found that to be the case for us, too - and after reading her report, it sounds like what I picked will be good for us.

She also reviewed the lunch that is included; I think that my older DS will not eat much there, so I need to find out about taking a snack or two with me from the ship for him. I wonder if that will be ok? Or if I need to bring some pre-packaged snacks for him for such occasions. If he doesn't eat, he'll end up with a headache and that will be miserable for all of us. And since it is a very long day, well, I'm thinking now that I need to figure that part out.

One more thing off my list of things to do - I ordered my new glasses and some prescription sunglasses for the trip. My prescription changed and I didn't get it filled in late April when I was at the eye dr., so I have had that on my list of to-do's.

45 days until we sail. Just six weeks until we leave from home. I've decided on what I'm wearing for traveling over and back, so that's a big deal! I wanted something comfortable but durable so I won't feel too yicky when we arrive! I do need to get pants for the boys - I was thinking about having them travel in their sweatpants (comfortable) because I thought the plane might get cool, too - but maybe I will just have them in regular pants (they don't have any jeans). Last time we flew, they wore their sweatpants, but we were going to Denver in October, not the Mediterranean in the Summer.

Okay, this will teach me to READ before I post -- I was so excited about the report on Jumping Back and I see it has already been posted :) And I realized that the 45 days I'm counting is 45 days before our flight, not our sailing.

Seaulater - welcome to the thread! Please share anything from your EBTA cruise that we should know about, especially things that might be different from the Caribbean cruises that DCL does.

Someone else asked about a Meet. We won't arrive until the day before we sail and we're staying at the Atena Mar. I was thinking that we should definitely plan a meet for Wednesday on the ship -- what's the name of the open bar area on Deck 4 - starts with a P.... or is it on Deck 3? Ay yi yi - where is my ship map? Anyway, we could plan to meet there about an hour before the Safety Drill - that would give us a bit of time to say hello and get acquainted before going off to get our life jackets. What do y'all think?

And of course anyone arriving early and wanting to do a pre-boarding meet - I think that's a great idea. I know that the 1st sailing did one at a fountain or something.

Rachel was on the EB, and then she told me that she is on this 11 night and the 1st 10 night and then she gets off to go on holiday.

That's when Brent will be getting back on.

So that means we'll have Brent! We had Rachel in Dec. 2005 and really liked her, but I've heard that Brent is really good, too, so it will be nice to experience a different cruise director. Thanks for checking on this as I was thinking we'd have Rachel again from early early early reports.

And because I'm procrastinating at work, I thought I'd go look at the TSA regulations for what we can bring in our carry-on bags for the flights over.

And the European Union safety rules. Which do a good job of explaining some of the reasons for the rules.

Ok, back to work for me....

Hello Cindy

Yesterday I was reading it and I think it sound good :thumbsup2 and about lunch - Sure they must have children's food menu? like Pizza and ice cream?? I think we are not allowing to bring foods out of the Cruise? Maybe ask Guest Services and see what they saying?

Now the weather is getting better as I was so miserable last week as lots of raining and cold but now warm and sunny:goodvibes :goodvibes

Have a lovely weekend.:)

A meet sounds like fun. Just let us know when and where and we'll try not to get too lost finding it. We are in Barcelona from the 16th so might be able to hop over to a "land meet" prior to the cruise if there is one.

Hi Cindy

We are also doing this tour and my DD(11) is a very fussy eater so I don't think she will eat anything that they offer. I will be bringing some snacks from home and putting these in my backpack when we go on our excursions because as you say if the kids don't eat they will get grumpy and grumpy children make for an unhappy excursion.

Hi all.

My family will be joining you on this cruise.

It will be our 12th Disney Cruise. My husband (Robert) and I just got off the Magic from the 14 night EB Transatlantic and had a great time. We would have loved to stay for the 1st 11 night with all our disney cruising buddies, but our daughter was graduating from junior high (tomorrow) so we had to come home.

Thus, we are returning to Barcelona for July 18th departure date.

It will be me-Linda, dh-Robert and dd-Jamie (15).

We are flying in early, but I still need to book our reservations. We have a segway tour at 5 p.m. on the 17th with Barcelona Guides. Robert and I just did it this last weekend and it was awesome, so we promised Jamie we would do again next month. Cost is 60 Euros per person if anyone is interested. There is also a thread on the board about the tour. It was great.

Okay, that's all the info about us. If we need to know anything, just let me know.

Hi Linda

Welcome to the thread :welcome:.

You are so lucky to have already done the eastbound TA and then to be coming back for the Med cruise.

I would be grateful if you could let me know if there a minimum age for the segway tour in Barcelona, how long it lasts. and what sights you get to see. It sounds really interesting but I dont't know if it would suit us. Thanks

Andrea

The Promenade Lounge - that's what I was trying to think of for our on-board meet. Let's say meet there about an hour before the safety drill... will that work?

Here's what I've done today:
1. Filled out all my online registration forms
2. Printed out the forms that I need to bring with us
3. Made copies of our passports
4. Officially started the packing list -- clothing, other, carry-on

Cindy that sounds great to me too. What time is the safety drill?
I've already got all our paperwork filled out and printed. I did it the day we booked excursions while I waited for that part to work. Gave me something to do while I stared at the computer.
We leave tomorrow for WDW woo-hooo!!!! And of cousre there is a tropical storm down there right now and I am sick. Should make for a fun trip. Two years ago we were on the last plane allowed into Orlando before a hurricane hit. I'm taking my lap top so if I have time i may pop in. If not talk to ya'll in a week. We have to fly through Atlanta again pray Delta doesn't strand us.

Hi Lissa

Safety drill is 5.05 pm as my friend is going on 16th June and she was talking about the times.

I hope you have a fabulous times at WDW and hope the weather will be okay.

Scottishwee35:thumbsup2

I think the Promenade lounge one hour before safety drill sounds like a great idea, Cindy.
We will also be arriving on the 17th and staying at the Atenea Mar. Our kids are similar ages to yours-bet we'll be able to meet up with you there also.

We are actually doing site seeing before the cruise-hard to believe that we are leaving in just over one month. It is really getting close! :cool1:

Angie

The safety drill is scheduled for 5:05 on the first day, but I've signed my DH up for a spa treatment from 4:30 - 5:45 that day. How does that work? Is he exempt from the drill? Does he have to go to the drill & forego his treatment? I wanted to start the cruise off with him nice & relaxed (& not cranky!).

What time are we allowed onto the boat again...1:00 PM?

Lissa-Hope you have a great trip to WDW. My sister and her family are coming back from there today. They had an amazing time there with their 5 year old.

We would love to meet everyone in the Promenade lounge an hour before the safety drill. I couldn't remember if any one else on this board is traveling with little ones. We have a ds who is 6 and a DD who is 4. We are not leaving here until July 17 and doing the red eye flight so hopefully we will not be delayed and get to the port early. We really wanted to come a couple of days early but we are traveling with my inlaws and extended family. My BIL is a doctor and couldn't leave any earlier. So we may be pushing it. I had a dream last night that I forgot to pack all of the important stuff for the trip. I was druged up on Tylenol pm and decongestants due to a sinus infection so hopefully the bad dreams are just temporary. HA, HA! Have a great day! Kathleen
