Has anyone ever experienced sea sickness with their kids? My 10 year old gets motion sick if she doesn't watch the rode when we drive...nervous for her. Planning on bringing Dramamine and sea bands. We are in the forward part of the ship so that worries me too.
I just found ginger gum on amazon. I am going to try it.

My older son gets motion sickness in the car frequently, but was completely fine on our last cruise. My younger one, who never gets motion sickness, was the one who had issues! His biggest problems were in Animator's Palate, which is in the very front of the ship. He didn't make it through either dinner there. We use essential oils at home, so I'm bringing some of those along this year, as well as kids' Dramamine.

We stayed mid ship first cruise and forward last time and truthfully noticed no difference in motion. We are forward again this time. The only time I have really felt movement was the first night crossing the Florida straits. But we don't tend to have motion sickness issues. I would recommend talking to her doctor so you can be prepared just in case and I'd strongly recommend at least treating her first day.

For any others that booked Jost Van Dyke Beach Day:
Tortola - Jost Van Dyke Beach Day excursion changed from 5-5.5 hour to 4 hour and no longer includes lunch, price has dropped as well. I saw change on website and contacted DCL to find out what was going on and got the following reply

The port adventure has in fact changed and emails are to go out today with the details. I was provided with the email just now, so that I could enclose it for you:

So here's a question for the group....I would like to go on the Jost Beach Day, but my daughters and son-in-law are going to take the kiddos swimming with the dolphins.....do you think it's okay to go solo to Jost, or should I go with the fam to do the dolphin swim? I already went on a dolphin swim on an excursion a few years back, so I don't want to repeat it. Thoughts?

Not sure Jost is worth it now for our family. Received another email today that the "perfect" 10:15 departure time is no longer available and is replaced by a 7:30 or 12:45 and we have been assigned the 7:30 a.m. slot. For us getting up at 6:00 / 6:30 on vaca with a 19 and two 21 year olds ain't our idea of fun plus that gives us from about 8:30 - 10:30 at the beach which is a bit too early to enjoy an adult beverage on a beach chair o_O. Looking to switch to the 12:45 but we like to get back from an excursion at a leisurely pace and there will only be about 1 - 1.5 hour before having to be back on the ship. Not sure what we are gonna do as I am thinking now that it is about only 2 hours of beach we might rather hang on a less crowded ship................

For you though maybe that early time would allow you to do both Jost if you want and then join the family?

Looking for some more advise on Palo.......our window will not open on May 2, so we may not even get in......but just in case we get lucky, I was hoping to get some feedback from those who have more experience. We are considering a late Palo dinner on formal night, thinking we could still get in the early Aladdin show with the kids, but since this is our first cruise, my 2 daughters said they may not want to give up one of the regular rotation dining experiences and menus. They are thinking it would be better to go to Palo on the 1st night since that night's rotation gets repeated 3 times. After talking to some other prior Disney cruisers, they said that we definitely do not want to skip regular dining on the 1st night because we would miss all the fun and excitement of our first dinner on board and that's when we get to meet our dining servers - I agree. We all agree that we don't want to miss out on any of the special dining experiences later in the week (Pirate, Princess, Captains Gala or Sea Ya), and that we really want to stick with either Saturday or Sunday night for Palo. Any advise or thoughts?

Also, taking votes..........what is your favorite Palo time? Brunch or Dinner?

I'm with you.....too early for the beach and Painkillers! Guess I better take a look at the list again.....

I can't tell you for sure about Palo as we don't do it but I would agree on a couple things...I would avoid first night because you are meeting your servers. I would also if you can avoid your Animators Palate nights if you haven't done them because these are the dinner shows, especially the second AP because you get to draw your own character. The other nights are more routine to be honest. The hard thing is you won't know til check in at port what rotation you have. So...that's probably not much help!!

How disappointing they had to change this!! Seems like most of the excursions have minimal beach time!

If we request a rotation, how likely are we to get our request?
