July 16, 2016 Disney Fantasy, Eastern Caribbean

Has anyone spent time at the spa on the ship? How was it? Can you just go in and relax and sit in the hot tubs? Also are there hot tubs out on the decks?

Just a heads up I got an email from my travel agent about the zika virus and to be careful when we're there. Here's what it says

We appreciate you booking a Disney Cruise Line vacation for your client.

As you may be aware, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recently issued a travel alert for travelers to specific countries in the Caribbean and Latin America due to the Zika virus, a mosquito related illness.

The precautions recommended by the CDC are similar to those to prevent other mosquito borne illnesses like dengue fever, chikungunya, and West Nile virus and include wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants and using insect repellents containing DEET to avoid mosquito bites. While the most common symptoms are usually mild and include fever, rash, joint pain and pink eye, pregnant women should pay special attention to the travel alert and take necessary precaution to avoid mosquito bites.

Additional information can be found under the Travelers Health section of the CDC website at http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices.

Should you have any questions related to your client's sailing, please feel free to call us at 800-939-2784or 407-566-7000.

Sincerely,

The Cast and Crew

Sounds like the Rain forest day pass might be what you are looking for. It includes use of sauna, steam room, 3 different shower / aroma treatments, hot tub and access to heated ceramic loungers with a view of the ocean.

There are also hot tubs in the adult pool area Quiet Cove.

Got the same one from DCL yesterday too

From DCL Blog "Palo Dress Code Altered to Permit Jeans"
http://disneycruiselineblog.com/2016/04/palo-dress-code-altered-to-permit-jeans/

I do not want to get on any soapbox here or anything, but really? Palo is going to loose a bit if it turns to a jeans and golf shirt restaurant - just stay in the main dining rooms as they are very nice. Don't get me wrong, a pair of khakis and summer shirt at Animators is my favorite. Part of what makes Palo nice is the family getting dressed up a bit, pictures, etc. Oh well, don't want to sound like the old crabby guy so everyone have a great weekend!

We haven't done Palo but I totally agree with you. I have similar feelings about formal night. I love seeing people dressed up and it adds to the night. I realize not everyone wants to dress up on vacation and yes it's more luggage to do it but man I treasure our formal night pictures. Truly I guess we should just wear what we want and not care about others but...

I totally agree with you both -- I don't want to dress up for most of my vacation -- but for a couple of meals, it's so nice. Oh well, I'll try not to look around at others and just focus on the handsome gentleman I'm having brunch with at Palo. After 32 years of marriage, that should be pretty easy! ;)

Is this for real? I totally agree with you, budamacdvcr!!:sad2:

So the "window" for us newbies is going to open up next week. What can we expect?
When we log on (at the wee hours of the night) what do we do? Go to my reservations, then click on explore activities, and then my cruise activities?
Then what will we see?
What do we try to book first? Polo/Remy? PAT? A particular port adventures we have in mind?
Do we need to add any information (pastport/etc) prior to being able to make any choices?
My mom, jerseybernie and I will be linked together and trying to help each other out.

Can you give us newbies a crash course?

A couple things... There are two separate components. The explore activities and the online check in. I would decide which is more important to you. The online check in has to have something entered for each section before it unlocks your PAT. You can always go back and fix things later. For instance I put in we are driving and went back and put in flights later. As for explore activities, it will pull up the days of the trip. You click on the day you want to book something for and it will pull up four categories, port adventures, adult dining, spa and onboard fun (which is sports simulators,BBB and pirates league). Click on what you want and it will pull up your choices and then ask who you want to book it for. You click on the participants and check availability and it will show you times. You want to do this for each day you plan to book something. It's really pretty easy to use. After you make your choices there will be a link to confirm.

One thing I learned, we are linked with disneywells here on the dis so our families can sit together. Upon booking the activities all our names plus their family showed up. It will only let one person be in booking at a time when you are linked so poor Sarah had to wait til I was done booking ours. If you know what everyone you are linked to wants one person could do all that. You will still do your own online check in.

As for how to prioritize it's totally what's most important to you. I did port excursions then pirates league appts and then PAT. If I wanted palo I'd do it at the time of excursions. I looked today and almost all excursions were still open and many palo times.

Does that help?

can you pay for excursions with Disney gift cards, does anyone know?
Yes, you can apply them to shipboard account - like a credit against your account. Just go to guest services at some point and they will apply your cards to your account. We do this as well. I get a card from every pay day as a savings plan to lessen the blow of a DCL or WDW trip :-)

Ah, wonderful. So on May 2nd when I can book excursions, I don't have to pay in advance with a credit card?

Nope, you just need to set-up a CC for your account but nothing gets billed to your account until we are on the cruise. Your onboard account will be billed the following types of things:
  • Drinks
  • Shopping /purchases on board at the shops
  • Shore excursions
  • Palo / Remy
  • Drinks :-)
  • Any photos you purchase
  • Tastings
  • Snacks & drinks for shows
  • Drinks o_O
  • Room attendant and serving team tips
  • Bibbiti Boutique
  • Spa Treatments
  • Drinks :drinking1
So if you spend say $2000 and apply $1000 in Gift cards your CC would be billed $1000.
