July 15-22 2006 Western Anyone?

Thanks for the quick response! The DIS meet is a great idea. I will try to make it there. We are going with 3 other families: two couples & one single mom with a 3 yr old. We will be staying on deck 7 and have the main seating for dinner. My family has been on the Disney Magic in 2002. I know the kids really enjoyed it that time.
To the gales: I love your homepage. What a great idea! My daughter is very excited she has a secret message, only we are not sure how to access it.
To Btsen5: Are you boys planning on joining the teen program? My son seems weary about it.. . not sure if it's "cool" enough for him. He's willing to give it a try . . . I hope the counselors motivate him.

My family has also been on a Carnival Cruise and did not feel it measured up to Disney, so we are doing Disney again.
I hope to meet everyone onboard!!

This is too funny. :rotfl2:

My husband is really cool about it too, but this morning we were talking about the shuttle and I said that I hoped they didn't wait till the day we cruise, because I am already worried about getting there since we are flying in the same day. He agreed with me. See, he tells me I worry too much. The only difference between me and him is that I worry openly. What can I say. :confused3

My mom and my aunt are house sitting for me while we are gone. I cannot figure out how I am going to get this house cleaned the way I would like, so it is ship shape for them. (no pun intended) There is so much to think about, but it is fun and exciting.

Usually the launches are in the morning or early afternoon. Unfortunatly this one is later in the afternoon which can keep pushing the date back because that is when the afternoon storms kick in. We are hoping it will go up tomorrow. Less chance of afternoon storms tomorrow!!! You sound like me. I worry about everything too. My DH is so laid back I don't think anything bothers him.

Getting the house clean, yeah right. That's never going to happen. Between all my guests URG!!!. We are having a cookout tomorrow for the 4th and my house still isn't in order from the last 2 parties we had when my family was here. Can you say STRESSED!!! It's driving me nuts that I can't get my house in order. I think I need a cocktail. It's 5 o'clock somewhere right?

I just discovered this site and I have been reading all the posts and getting very excited for the crusie. I'm a bit concerned that my children may be too old for the cruise. My son is turning 16 on the cruise and my daughter is a few months shy of 13. I hoping they will let her take part in the teen activities on the ship. The age group 7-12 seems so broad. 7 is quite different from 12. We haven't booked anything because we heard its cheaper to do it on your own. We're basically looking at the beaches. Must we book Palos brunch, high tea, tea with Wendy ahead of time? Does anyone know if these activities fill up? Anyone have kids the same ages as mine? Both of my children are rather shy, but a lot of fun once they open up.

Welcome :cool1:
Everybody is very friendly and easy with the great tips
Hope you enjoy your trip

Welcome TandD! I think they will let your daughter go up to the next age group since she's so close to being 13. I believe there are a few kids the ages of yours. Sorry, mine are 3 & 8. Hope you can make it for the meet!

I have updated the website with TandD's information. TandD (or anyone else), if you have any other information you would like added, please post here, or send me a PM.

I will call Shirley on Wednesday to order our basket. I think I will do just one that the girls will need to share. I am such a mean dad (although I will wear pink).

I will also call the Radisson on Wednesday to see if any non smoking rooms have opened up. If not, we will cancel our reservation there and keep the reservation at the Best Western.

As the drunk blacksmith said, "Jjjust dddoin mmmy cccivic ddduty."

Sorry, it came to mind, and I had to say it. What can I say, my kids are home and I am going crazy.

When do these kids go back to school??? Wow, mine actually go back a month from today. Mommy will be doing a little dance that day. :dancer: Seriously, I love them to death, but I'm about done entertaining them 24/7. We have a pool, they are already sick of that. I can only do so many crafts. Most of the kids in the neighborhood are either gone to camp or on vacations. I'm running out of ideas here. OH that's right we are going on a cruise soon!!!!!

TandD - On the upper right hand side of the disboards page, it should say "Welcome, TandD." Underneath that, there should be a link that says Private Messages. If you click on that, you should be able to see your messages. You might need to allow pop ups.

I forgot to mention that we're from Northampton, PA. I just figured out how to get the private message. My daughter will respond when she returns from the pool. Thanks again.
By the way, Pirates of the Carribbean is going to be playing onboad. I thought I saw a posting stating it would not be playing. I just called Disney the other day and they will be playing Pirates II. Now, I just have to keep my 16 yr old from seeing it here before the cruise. He's really into movies.

That is great news about POTC II. When we called about 2 weeks ago they said it was not playing but is subject to change. There is no way that I can wait to see it!! I will be out to see it this weekend!!! pirate:

Okay, I give up. :badpc: This is the third time I have lost my post. I hope I do not have 3 repeats in the end.

Anyway, my 14 will probably do the teen program. He is so excited and this is his first cruise, so I believe he will be up for it . I am sure he would like to just explore, enjoy the pools, etc too. He is getting so excited , and at his age it is so nice to see.

My 18 year old graduated from high school, so he will not be able to join in the teen activities. I wish he could though, although I believe he would opt out. He is more of a pool/beach person now. He is also extremely excited. I hope he has a good time and finds lots of things to do.

Carnival is the cruiseship we went on. We went only on the cruises to nowhere (sea trials I think ). I was impressed because I had nothing to compare it to. The only thing about Carnival is that I felt it was more of a party cruise. Maybe it was the 2 night thing, but it seemed that the gambling and the clubs were the main focus. Not that that is a bad thing. I just don't gamble, and the clubs are nice, but these were so packed that you could not move. I look forward to see how much different Disney is.

:rotfl2: Yes, somewhere it is. Pretend you are there and go get yourself a cocktail. I was wanting to clean today, but instead took my 10 yr. old for ice cream ( well, I stopped at Starbucks for me). We then visited a friend of mine that used to be my neighbor, and here I am now, avoiding the dreaded dust.

"Make friends with the dust, make friends with it." :rolleyes1

Maybe we can just resolve to the fact that our house will not be in order until the children are back in school. Sadly, that is when I will be starting school again (but I won't think about that? After all, we have a cruise to plan for !!!!!!! :dance3: :Pinkbounc :cool1: :cheer2: and my very favorite

Getting a basket at all is very nice of you. I do not think I will be doing it. After thinking, I have decided against it. At least this time.

I do not blame you for holding out for a non smoking room. I have stayed in rooms that allowed smoking because we had a dog, and that is the only place they would allow dogs, and it was awful. No doggie smell, but very smoky. yuck!

That reminds me, is this a non smoking ship? Can people smoke in the clubs? Just wondering. None of us smoke, but sometimes the clubs can get pretty unbearable.

The hardest thing for me is that the kids in the neighborhood are gone, and my youngest really doesn't have anybody here. He is really hard to please too, because he wants me to join in with him on everything. Well, the good thing is that bible school starts next week. He will be there from 9-12 mon-fri. This will give me some time to pack and get ready for the cruise.

They ask every morning, "what are we doing today?" I have to keep reminding them that we are going on a cruise. I cannot take them to water parks, amusement parks etc....and I don't care if little Johnny does it every week. :confused3 Am I made of money?

It is for research purposes. uhm, I do ask an occassional question. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: You are too funny. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

These boards not only helped me get valuable information, it has also helped me escape the in-laws!!! I'm sorry, I do love them but there is always DRAMA!!! I don't like drama.

My husband knows exactly what I do all day because he works from home!!!! I do have to say I do sneak in my soap. :happytv: I could be doing some cleaning right now since the family is in the pool and I opted to stay inside, but I'm just enjoying the peace and quiet right now.

There is a movie coming out on Tuesday on DVD with Johnny Depp called the Libertine. I never heard of it, have you? I might just have to buy it just because uh, well we know why.

Yup, I'm with ya BTSEN5.

Oh my goodness, you are all such busy bees today with all this posting! :hyper2:

Welcome TandD! My boys are 11 and 8 so, sorry, I can't be of help to you there. I think your kids will have an awesome time no matter what.

Back to Shirley and her baskets. I have been going back and forth about ordering them also. I know they're going to want at least a shovel and pail for the beach and even though there is unlimited free food on board, the minute they are in the room for any reason, they'll want some other type of snack. So, I think that's all I'm going to do-shovel and pail and some snacks. Of course it will cost way more than if I did it myself, but since overpacking is already an issue....well, you all understand. :rolleyes1

I did not go see this movie. I would not buy it, because it is very, very sexually explicit. I heard that it was extremely intense in that respect. I do not think I would like it. I am not a prude, but there is a line I do not like a movie to cross and from what I hear this movie would cross it.

I do hear that it is Johnny's best acting yet. I may rent it, but I would have to do it when kids and hubby are gone, gone, far away. I am afraid I could not come up with a valid reason for watching that movie....except that Johnny Depp is in it. :cloud9: At least the others are really good movies for the most part.

I bought a new camera last week. I had a Sony Cybershot DSC-P50 from 2001. It has been through a lot, including a couple of drops. It allowed the use of rechargable aaa batteries, but I was getting tired of carrying all extra the batteries around. So I got a Sony Cybersot DSC-W70. I am still learning how to use it, but I have the basics down. It is so much smaller than the old camera, so I will probably carry it with me more.

I just got home from purchasing a new digital camera too! My old one is a Sony Mavica and I really like it, it uses a mini-cd instead of a memory card. Because of this it's very big. DH suggested that I get a smaller one for this trip. OK :cool1: I purchased the Sony Cybershot DSC-W50. I wanted the 70 but no one in town had it - apparently it's very popular. The differences between the 50 and the 70 were minor so I went for it. I'm going to give it a work out today and tomorrow to make sure I like it. I'm glad to here you like it. It's sooooo small.
