**JULY 11, 2010*** Double Dip Wonder!

DIS Meet

Now that we are getting closer to cruise time I think it is time to discuss the DIS meet. On our most recent cruises we've held them at 3pm on Sunday in the promenade lounge. This worked well for a number of reasons:

  • By 3pm everyone is pretty much on board and has had something to eat.
  • It gives us about 1/2 hour to meet and mingle before needing to go get ready for the muster drill.
  • The promenade lounge is easy to find (see deck plan below).
  • The meet can go on rain or shine and no worries about the heat up on decks 9 & 10.

So what does everyone think about a DIS meet at 3pm on Sunday July 1th? If everyone is up for it this is where we'll give out the buttons (unless you've caught up with us in the terminal first).

Is there a fish extender sign up for our July 11th double dip ? haven't been able to find the link. Thanks.

Sounds good. I like the plan. This is better then meeting outdoors because it will either be hot or raining. This is Florida in the summer.

Mary - we're in..........

Thanks....although we have two - as we have Palo's and the dress up night. That's fine...we hauled the tux and gown on prior trips....One day I expect to hear DH say something like "Bond,James Bond".....:lmao:

But for this trip it is blazers or jackets (what ever guys call the coat that is ot a suit).

For me, I am tempted to wear my "vintage" dress - It would be a better idea if the vintage part was not me in an earlier life - hey, it is the one dress I kept.....:rotfl:

FATAL ERROR - has anyone else ever received that message? Oh well, it posted.

Our reservation at Palos is the same night as the formal so it does cut some packing... :):) One suit.

Button update! Last call for buttons!

Reminder that if you haven't sent me your info the cut off date is June 18th. No buttons will be made after that date. Sorry for being firm but after years of doing this and having people drop in at the last minute we have to set up a cut-off date for our own sanity (no comment on my sanity from those who know me). :lmao:

Come on Guys, how DID we let this one slip.
Virgil, Jim - we're slipping...

Someone with a pancake on her head and we let this pass....

Oh my, :dance3:

And a UTOP as well which I can share with my friend Mary.....

Sounds good to us. We might be a couple minutes late... I am certain I will be coaxing kids out of the pools or such, although I might be able to just run by and leave them in the Mickey Pool. But the safety drill is at 3:45 right? So I'll have to get them going for that anyway.

So do we think that they will do a Prem-EAR at sea for

As it is scheduled for July 16th. We will still be on board at midnight...

Hum.....but that is the last night....hum......

Interesting. Could be.

Hi there,

We are going to be cruising with you on July 11. This is a surprise for my husband's birthday. I am trying so hard to keep it a secret. I haven't posted anything on the board just in case he might be snooping. He knows we are doing something, because I had to tell him that he needed that week off of work.

We live near Port Canaveral, so I'm going to try to have someone drop us off and pick us up. I'm having documents sent to my mom's house, and trying to pack without him knowing it (which is quite a task since I take almost everything but the kitchen sink!)

We have always wanted to do a double dip Castaway Cay cruise, but it never worked out. So, I think he will be pleased with the surprise.

We are in our 40's, do not have children, have a big Rottie/Lab mix who is 14 and having difficulty walking. I lost my father very unexpectedly last year, and we have been helping my bipolar mother, who is a seven-time cancer survivor. It has been a rough year, and I know my husband really deserves a nice vacation.

Also, we work at at the Space Center, so if anyone is contemplating a visit there, I would be happy to give you information. Wish we had a launch for you to see, but it will be later in the year.

Looking forward to meeting you all.
Lisa Rae

Welcome - welcome - welcome --- :welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:

First and foremost, if you want buttons, please let Mary know as the deadline is quickly approaching.

What a wonderful surprise for your DH and a relaxing vacation for the two of you who have had a rough year as you said.

Best of luck on keeping the surprise...I expect at worst you could admit to an out of town trip to an unknown destination and keep him guessing....I love surprises...

Speaking of launches - any rocket launches on the 11th? We saw one from the deck of the Wonder - it was a communications satellite but unexpected and still fun. I could check the NASA site. :rotfl: Silly me.

Yeah - what she said! :)

:thumbsup2Great idea!! And that way, families with kids won't miss the sail away party.

We've found that 3pm in the lounge is much more conducive to mingling and chatting. Not as crazy as up on deck 10 and as Jim said earlier much cooler as well.

Thanks - Are you Excited? Ready? Nervous?
All of the above????

Ready, and very excited for the cruise! Ready to meet with our real wedding coordinator on the ship because the one we are working with currently can only give us general guideline information. Still have to work out all the details once we are on the ship.

We are supposed to signing all our wedding paperwork at 3:00 so depending how long that takes, we may or may not be able to make it to the DIS meet.

Sorry to be a dummy, but what are the buttons for?

The buttons are a way to recognize other DISers. They have your name and screen name on them. See this post for more details: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=36976348&postcount=1530

I bet you guys are getting very excited! Totally understand why you may miss the meet. Your paperwork is much more important!
