Julie & Brian's Disneyland Wedding (9/2011) Sleeping Beauty Theme

It is true, so interesting how Weddings can bring out the best and worst in people and when it is really important your real friends stand by you. Thanks for listening to me, I just needed to vent and didn't know where else to go.

The tiara is the same as in post #31...

What do you think? Aurora-ish? Thanks for the necklace advice. ;)

I like the tiara and I think it goes well with Necklace #1 verses necklace #2, but they are all lovely options!!

Thanks Mindy! They are both relatively cheap, I might get both ;) Also it is so hard to tell how things look online versus in person. I would like to see them before buying, but c'est la vie and such is this crazy internet based world we live in.

Now I am thinking about the aisle runner!! I found an adorable one on Aisles with styles it is pink and they do custom paint. I am thinking of the glitter gold that says, Once Upon a Dream Come True. They don't have the greatest pictures but this I used the font I chose against a pink background to give an idea. There is also a picture of a sample in the gold glitter writing.

Does anyone know how long the runner should be for the RCG? Also what do you think of the wording? Should it just say Once Upon a Dream Come True?

Sorry about the drama with your BM and GM. I really do think weddings bring out the best and worst of some, but glad it happened sooner rather than later!

Love your plans so far!!

I really like the 1st necklace the best and combined with the tiara I think it looks really Sleeping Beauty-esque! :) :goodvibes

Thank you, but you are right, weddings do show you a side of people you never knew or they can also show you how strong and caring your friends are. It is good they told us this far out. As long as I figure out the dress sitch, it will work out well. They are out in TX anyway, so this way the someone should be closer and able to participate in the shower, etc. ;)

Thank you for the feedback on the necklaces. I do agree, the first one does seem to go best with the tiara and I love that it gives the SB vibes! hee hee

So I have been trying to figure out a monogram, and am so lost. I had wanted some sort of briar and roses in the shape of a heart around our initials. I did stumble across a silhouette of Aurora and Phillip and a beautiful font. Two actually, there is one called Dearest which I used and the other is called Medici (both are on Dafont if you are looking for medieval fonts). Here are 3 of the final products, which do you like best? Do you think initials or full names are the way to go. Should I scratch these and try for something with the briar rose heart?

Any input is greatly appreciated!!

I like the aisle runner and the logo! I really like SB and PP in the background. I am partial to monograms, I think they look cleaner, but that's just my opinion. I think there is someone on the DISboard who will design logos for DISbrides, also. :wizard:

Thanks Mindy! Hmmm, I will have to look into who it is that does monogram designs. ;) I can't wait to have the runner in hand to see how it turns out and to post pics!!

So sorry I have been MIA, not much wedding news at the moment. I do have a semi-fun update though, last Monday was the Disney Family Holiday party. Brian and I have gone each year since 2001, this was my first year going as a guest of a CM. :sad1: Next year I'm not sure if either of us will be going. It was fun though! Our traditions each year are going to see Santa, picking a favorite character to take a picture with, getting hot chocolate and a treat and watching the parade. We love the parade for the CMs because there are no ropes and you are really close to the characters and they interact with you a lot too! It was a lot of fun and I saw some former co-workers, but mostly it was pretty empty in the park and Brian and I could enjoy the holiday festivities together. We even got matching PJs for our upcoming trip to Big Bear. Here are some pics:

The party wasn't the only highlight of the week. My 87 year old Grandmother has just been released from the hospital and I had my younger brothers come over and we all baked cookies together on Tuesday. This was really important to me because I am unsure how much time she has left. Today I got to meet my friends new baby Luke!! He is only 9 weeks and so adorable! Lastly, we are just packing up the house and prepping to move, not sure where yet. Just somewhere much smaller, we don't need 5 bedrooms and our utilities are through the roof, so we are hoping to move into something small and inexpensive so we can save more towards the wedding. I am still trying to make time for my PJ, but it has been rough this week. I think things will taper down after the holidays.

The cast party sounds so fun. I used to date a cast member but he never took me to the party; he always took his best friend (I should have taken that as a sign but instead I stuck around for 3 years :sad2: ) Cute pictures and it sounds like you had a great time!!! Good news about grandma! I kind of know what you mean, my Poppa passed away in October and it will be very sad without him. It makes you realize you need to make the best of each holiday because you just never know what will happen. :goodvibes

So I found the person who makes the monograms and she now charges, but here is her website: http://paperperfectiononline.blogspot.com/2010/10/monograms-and-logos.html

Her prices are really reasonable.

However, my BFF is a graphic designer and she said she'd do some kind of logo for me, so if you like what she comes up with for me maybe I can refer you to her, too! :goodvibes

Looks like the holiday party was a lot of fun! (And you look so great in red! :goodvibes)

Glad you could make more holiday memories with your grandmother. Have a great holiday!!!

It was fun, but I am soooo looking forward to WDW!! Thank you so much. I have always loved red since the days of the old tour guide costume. ;)
You have an amazing Christmas too hun!!

So our F&B expenditure is a minimum of $125.00 a person, so we decided the dinner food was most important in getting us to that point. Many of our guests do not drink so we won't be hosting a bar for the duration, only for about 2 hours and a cash bar for 2 more hours. We were given several options for plated meals and thus far this is what we have decided on. (keeping in mind it is all subject to change after the tasting).

We will be starting the meal with a plated appetizer of crab cakes with andouille corn relish.

The salad we chose is from the "Touch of Romance" menu. It is the Romantic Salad Baby lettuce, fresh beet hearts, hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, tomatoes and cucumbers with a creamy balsamic dressing. It was recommended by Kelly for its display, lots of hearts which I love. I am not the biggest fan of beets, but we will see at the tasting.

The main dishes are dual plated meals. We're torn between "Stardust Serenade" and "Moonlight Waltz". We definitely want Filet Mignon as the first choice and we are torn between Poached Lobster Tail or Herb Roasted Salmon as the second. It is only a $5 difference, but we are unsure what the majority of our guests would like best.

The sides will be either Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, haricot verts, and pear tomato piccalili OR Sauteed asparagus, cherry tomato relish and meyer lemon risotto. I love asparagus and DF loves potatoes (he is kind of picky with veggies).

This is served with the artisan bread basket and a dessert which we have yet to decide on. So many desserts to chose from and when we both have massive sweet tooths, I don't know what we will end up with. Our top contenders are:

His & Her chocolate hearts made of white and dark chocolate truffle mousses inserted with espresso and raspberry creme brulee OR White chocolate and passion fruit heart with fresh berries OR Bittersweet chocolate pate with nougatine hazelnut creme anglaise.

We will have to taste to decide! No argument here, yum!!

The kids of course will have something they will find most yummy:

Minnie's fresh and fruity salad
Homemade all natural chicken tenders
Mickeroni & cheese
sweet corn nuggets
chocolate milk or apple juice
Pluto's worms & dirt for dessert

Our tasting isn't until mid-summer, but I am prepared! :)

Love all the stuff you have been working on. Where did you get your toasting glasses? I want to find some like that but with Little Mermaid. Thank you

Yuuuuum, I want to come to your tasting, haha!

It's too bad you can't get potatoes and asparagus, because that would be my top choice for sides.

Thank you!! :cutie: The toasting glasses were actually from the Disney Gallery at the park in 1999. They were collectibles for the 40th anniversary of Sleeping Beauty. I have seen sets with other characters at the parks, shops like the crystal palace run by Arribas Bros, they can also etch your names on the back. Try Arribas Bros, they should have various other characters. If you don't see it on the site, email them! ;) I :lovestruc Ariel!! How fun.

HAHA, you are so cute, you will have yours soon enough I'm sure with all the yummy goodness you can handle. I agree, I am such a fatty, I want it all! ;) Do you like Lobster Tail or do you prefer Salmon? I :lovestruc adore seafood, but I'm not sure everyone does....your input is so appreciated!! ;)

I actually do NOT like seafood at all!!!! So I wouldn't like either of those dishes. :guilty: I know I'm in the minority. DF looooooves lobster and eats it whenever he can get the chance. Me, I prefer an option of steak or chicken. I went to a wedding recently where I got the chicken, DF got the steak, and our friend got the vegetarian dish (pasta with veggies). I tried all three and the veggie dish blew the meat dishes out of the water. It was sooo good! I wished I had requested it. So you just never know! You'll have to taste everything and then go with what you like best. :goodvibes
