In all our trips, we have never done JTA, but we are now going with a family whose DS8 really wants to do this, so my DS10 has agreed to it. We are having our preliminary FP+ meeting this week and I am unsure of one thing. When you sign up, can you request a show that is at a certain time? For example, if we schedule FP at 9:00 and 10:00 for TSM and Star Tours, can we tell the CM we would like the 11:00 JTA show? I wasn't sure if you had to fill in a certain spot or not. Thanks!

When we were there in November they told us that we could have the 9:30 show or any time after that. So I think that now you get to pick from the shows left in the day that still have openings. I am guessing this is due to fp+ because in the past, they just assigned my son a show and didn't ask what time we wanted. I am not completely sure though.

Yes, you can choose which JTA session fits into your schedule. That's why it's best to arrive at the park well before rope drop and then head straight to JTA sign-ups as you'll have a better selection.

If you are an onsite resort guest, sign-up as soon as you enter for EMH. If you aren't an onsite guest, avoid morning EMH days. Also avoid signing up for an afternoon session if rain and lightning are predicted. Shows get canceled due to weather. Also remember the child needs to return at least 30 minutes before the session to get their robes and get situated for the session. You'll have to allot at least an hour in your scheduling for the return time and the 20 minute show.
