The not working at home thing is TOTALLY my husband... he HATES being in the house all day, so I can completely understand where he is coming from with it's convient to work from home, but it's not his personality.

I'm sure it's been said, but as far as not having a nanny just having a helper, I've been considered a nanny before and it was m-f 8-4 and when they went on trips I would go sometimes. I think of a helper as "hey, do you mind coming to play with the kids while i fix run to the store? ". As a nanny I cleaned, cooked, whatever other tasks that need to be done. just my opinion.

I didn't like how Kate just dismissed Jon's feelings and said its too late to go turn back now and I love what we are doing and my life :confused3 I'm not sure if he really is annoyed with the taping or her...whatever it is he's got issues right now and she seems to be the one calling all the shots.

I totally agree with you. I only watched the last 15 mins or so of the show, but I was also upset about how Kate was dismissing Jon's feelings and talking over him about how happy she is and how she likes the show and everything that comes with it. WE KNOW you love the spotlight and money lady! Let the poor man be regretful, sad, whatever it is that he's feeling - just let him have 2 minutes to express his feelings, we get enough of your feelings and thoughts throughout the whole darn show....UGH!

Agreed on both accounts. In the first show (Harlem Globetrotters), Jon tried to compliment Kate on the way she wore her clothes. He kind of stumbled over his words, and she was quick to be disdainful towards him and his efforts. When he suggested that they do a fashion review...Kate's change in clothes over the seasons, she got all excited, jumped up and down and said what a great idea it was....reiterated the idea as though it was hers, and when Jon tried to 'high 5' for 'their' great idea, she totally ignored him. :sad2:

Does anyone here remember the episode when they asked about her parents and their lack of involvement? She had said something like-they didn't know how to help. I read a post from someone at the parent's church saying how when she first got pregnant with the younger kids that her parent's church rallied to help. People donated clothes & furniture. But because Kate didn't want used clothes or mis-matched furniture she refused everything but cash donations. Her parents were too embarrassed to go back to their church to tell them that and that started the fued which has now alienated them as grandparents.
I have no way of confirming that is true or not, but her comment on the program of them not knowing how to help makes me wonder........
Also, where is Beth? Her really good friend that is suddenly out of the picture?

The Allstate ad was LAME!!!:rotfl2:

Rumor is that Aunt Jodi and Beth were offered money from TLC for their appearances on the show. Apparently this didn't go over very well with Kate, as she did not want anyone else making money off of her kids.
If it's true it's very sad. Good friends are hard to find. Seems that they are making enough money, it wouldn't have hurt to let TLC pay someone else too.

I think Jon's issues with working at home are just his personality. Many people are like this. They need an "outside" life. Socializing with people about issues other than homelife.

Yep. I agree with your take on Jon. Did you see the episode back at the old house when they were discussing the camera crew? Kate was expressing some annoyance with them ... Jon chimed in that he kind of liked having the people around the house.

Lets face it, its probably the only other adult contact he has all day. Kate is gone traveling, they really don't have friends and family and he doesn't have a job to go to.

I also remember in one of the first specials when Jon said that he knew what Kate was at home doing all day dealing with the kids, and he was glad that he was at work.
Even though they have significantly more money than they used to, it is still a change in lifestyle that may not always be for the better. They say that people that are the happiest have meaningful work that they enjoy. That's not to say that he doesn't enjoy his kids, just that he no longer gets to work outside of the home and interact with adults on a daily basis.

Does anyone know what store Kate was in buying her clothes? I know she was in Gymboree for the kids clothes.

She shops alot at Ann Taylor Loft. it's one of my favorite stores and i recongized a lot of her clothes.

More about the family is explained in her book . A little different than this.
My understanding is that they are still friends with Beth and her husband. They are just not filmed.

I think Jons issues are with not going to work. Many people, men particularly, do not do well with not having a job to go to every day. I think he just needs to get out of the house and have a "real" job. I think he is also saddened by the fact that he cannot go anywhere or do anything without being recongized. The price of fame.

I also think that the Beth and Jodi things are blown out of proportion on the internet. Beth was there at her garage sale this past season. I just think that they are not airing these people anymore.

I really hate all the rumors and speculation behind this family. If you like it watch it. IF not, don't. I admit that Kate annoys me, but I think she loves her husband and her family and they love her.

Well said!

I think Jon was acting like the child that Kate often treats him as. For years people have made disparaging remarks about his wife & children without provoking any reaction like this. He gets busted hanging around with college girls and all of a sudden he wants out.

On the flip side, I think Kate- on her outings without Jon- looked particularly happy for once. There is a strain on their marriage, and it's too bad.

After this last episode I can honestly say that I feel really bad for Jon!!! Because of Kates inability to allow help with all those children and the unforscene popularity of the show their lives are extrememly stressful. Kate apparently ( go figure!) can handle this but the poor man can't! I can see if he went out to party to let off some steam (as long as he did nothing wrong that is). I think Kate should not have An ITS ALL ABOUT ME attitude. What about their marriage? The kids? The show and fame will not last forever, then what?

Apparently their marriage and relationship are NOT about each other anymore and they both want different things out of life. I feel bad that Kate doesn't let Jon speak his mind and she feels she has to finish his sentences! I would not appreciate that as an adult let alone her spouse. It's heading downhill for Jon and Kate.

Does anyone know where these pics of Jon partying with coeds are? I keep hearing about them on hear. Was it utube? Just curious....

First off, Beth was not at the yardsale, BEv was- two totally different people. Beth is the friend that wrote the book with them but has never been mentioned at any of the book interviews, and speculation was that TLC wanted to pay her and Jon and Kate said no way- causing the friendship to end.

As far as Jon not working, it looks like that is his choice. Here's an article that you may find interesting, it appears since the conception of the sextuplets, Jon was boasting that he would never work again. clearly the fame is getting to him, but this is what they signed on for- and they were paid very handsomely in return, not just the salary but the free "everything" that goes along with it.

I totally agree with you as far as if you like it, watch it, and if not, don't. I think everyone who doesn't agree with the show should turn it off. sadly though, it's like a car crash, sometimes you can't stop staring!

Could it be that Jon may see the handwriting on the wall and realize maybe he needs/should begin/restart a career/work again for the future "just in case"? None of us know what they are making or what has been saved...maybe he sees the need to find another avenue for the $$ to keep coming in. Sure, Kate does the appearances and has the book...now I do not know if this is the case, but...not all marriages share money made byt each spouse. My MIL works and won't let FIL touch a dime of it and won't use it to pay any house bills or expenses. Maybe he wants his "own" money too.

I don't watch Jon and Kate plus eight, but I think this statement is very telling. Jon and Kate's children are also rapidly approaching losing the "cuteness factor". Won't the sextuplets be kindergarten age next year?

I just usually see the headers on each of the shows. I think it is telling that this year was all about having to do "spectacular things"---- the trips to Hawaii and wherever else they flew to, the new house etc. etc. It did use to just be Jon and Kate living normal life trying to survive with lots of small children. As they get older and the kids get easier to manage on a day-to-day basis, they lose that factor and the cuteness factor and have to up the ante to keep people's interest.

This show might last another few years, but it will get to the point where no one is interested in watching it in any more. I hope they are diligently preparing for the day when taping ends and no one cares what any of them are doing on a day to day basis and all the freebies end. (Though, I'm sure they'll have a much longer life on the book/speaking engagement circuit than they will on the television circuit).

It'll last a few more years at least. (But for the Hayes family, they've lost out on four years of cuteness!) I think 8 or 9 will probably be the ending age for the sextuplets.

And honestly.... the vacations and family outings are why I watch. They are so much more interesting than life at home episodes. It's like a family version of the travel channel (maybe the Gosselins should pursue a career with them after their TLC contract is up! :rotfl2:)!

But how are they going to fit all those things in around a school year calendar? You can't be jet-setting off to Hawaii and everywhere else when you're in school for 9 months out of the year. Unless they're planning to condense all their taping into summer months and school vacations, or the Gosselins decide to homeschool. I really don't see how that is going to work very well.

And as much as you like watching the vacations and family outings...eventually that's going to get old and boring as well. It will reach the point where everyone has seen it a million times and is no longer interested. I'm sure there will still be enough people will to pay for her book and pay to listen to her speak pretty much forever though. I've seen enough of people like Gary Ezzo and Ted Tripp, Michael Pearl and the like continue to have raving popularity in Christian circles despite a thousand and one pieces of evidence stipulating they're crackpots to believe that J&K's popularity would truly die off to the point they couldn't make a living off of it from at least the church circuit. When someone can get excommunicated from three different churches and still have a thousand churches hawking his books from the narthex, well.... I learned my lesson about popularity then!

:-)

You know I was not going to comment but I cannot help myself after watching last night,.....it drives my whole family nuts! She never ever lets her husband finish a sentence or a thought, it is amazing, and I would to know is she just a camera hog or is she like this with everyone?
