What's troubling Jon and Kate?

It appears (at least from the editing!) that Kate favors Hannah and Alexis and that Jon favors Cara and Joel.

I would say that Kate favors Hannah and Leah.

As a viewer, my favorites are Alexis and Aaden (he is the cutest!!!:lovestruc )! :rotfl: :goodvibes

Well, on a recent Dr. Phil interview, Jon and Kate said that they realized there was the possibility of multiples - that they were prepared for twins or triplets. (Raising four to five children isn't really that outrageous.) Sextuplets are very rare - I don't think many people prepare for that!

That's what sort of puzzles me about the Table for 12 family - they already had two sets of twins, yet wanted more children! They were looking at six to seven children - that's difficult to handle. (Headed towards OctoMom "greediness" here...)

On the bonus episode of the Seasons 1 and 2 dvd, Jon shares that he didn't really want any more kids. "Two kids - that's perfect. The world was made for four people." And it's true - once you exceed two children, travel becomes much more difficult. You're limited to SUVs and mini vans - multiple hotel rooms or roll-out beds.... vacation homes for more affordable, yet less convenient accomodations.

I'd like to see more (affordable, convenient) options for large families. Resorts are already beginning to gear towards bigger families. WDW has added family suites to the All Star Music resort and is supposedly going to add even more to the speculated Legendary Years. Many resorts are beginning to offer "family rooms." However, it's often much more expensive.

I think it is interesting that Cara does NOT want to be on camera. She really doesn't like the limelight, and seems to care about her privacy. I think Maddie is probably jealous. My older son is jealous of my younger, and they are 6 and almost 8!

This comes to infertility treatments and Drs. needing some kind of rules and Drs. needing to take some ethical responsibility. Sure 4 or more babies is rare, BUT a possibility. To me it seems like TV is glorifying having multiples...or at least until "Octomom" came around. Yes, it is up to each family how many children they have and why should those that need medical intervention be told they can only have x kids vs parents that can conceive naturally, but the difference is that *usually* naturaly children come in singles or twins.

My MIL told DH and I that it is Biblical to be fruitful and multiply...she wanted a bunch of grandkids I guess. So we multiplied...1x1=1! Then we added...1+1=2. I refuse to subtract or divide.:lmao: DH and I decided to stop at 2 (and made it medically permanent). He grew up in a family of 4 children and felt like he lost out on a lot of attention. I am an only child and sometimes missed having another child to play with or share secrets with. We were blessed with a boy and then a girl (unexpected!!!:scared1: ), each a healthy pregnancy despite being high risk. Our personal decision was that we didn't want to play the odds. And yes, it is much easier to travel with 2 because we don't need to rent a large car/van and can get away with one basic hotel room. I do, however, have great respect fo those with large families who do it without all the frills and freebies.
 
I love Jon & Kate + 8 also. The kids are so sweet and adorable!

Anyway, Kate's pushy. Jon didn't use a cupon and he got yelled at, not that he cares.

I also believe the season is ending because there were like 24 episodes in 1 season. (My fav-when they went to Dis)

Anyway, I was sad when they decided to end the series. Will they make a second?

I personally love having a larger family. I don't see anything wrong with the Table for 12 family have two sets of twins and wanting more children. We had 4 children and we knew we wanted more.

Honestly, being a family of eight in many ways is far easier than being a family of three and four ever was. We don't plan on stopping here either. I'd love to have 8 kids.

No matter what, when you're talking higher order multiples things are extremely hard for a few years, no doubt about it. But for most of us who end up with larger families, children come to your family one at a time. It's really not that hard.

There are certainly trade-offs. Travel is definitely harder. There are certain lifestyle things you give up because it costs more just to maintain your household with the basics. Our income (I SAHM) is just a hair into six figures. If it was just my husband and I, and I was working, we could be jet setting all over the place. If we just had one or two kids we could certainly go more places than we do now and spend more money on "the extras" of life.

Still, my kids all have the opportunity to do things like music classes and gymnastic classes. We have our yearly memberships to the local amusement park, the zoo, and the children's museum. We travel cross country as a family at least once a year. We save 15% of our income and we tithe 10%. We live in a modest house, and carefully budget our money but we can easily afford a middle-class lifestyle with the children with have and add several more.

I totally respect those who feel their family is complete at 1 or 2 kids. Their are pros and cons to smaller families and to larger families and everyone needs to do what is best for their family in this regard. But there are plenty of benefits to having a larger family. And one universal theme you'll hear from larger families is that it is actually much easier to have 5,6,7, 8 plus kids than it was when they just had 1,2, or 3 kids.

That's why people that have money have money - they're careful how they spend it.

Of course there are some things you let slide. Like if you buy a toy and then a week later it's on sale for $5 less - not many people are going to take the time to return the toy and purchase it again with the discount.

I totally get this. BUT, at what point is it ok to YELL at your spouse? I dont get that.

She kept yelling *You know the rules, you give me all the reciepts* or whatever. We have that *rule* at our house too, but I would never scream in my husbands face about not giving me a receipt.

Kate is very overbearing and I sure hope they are not taking the dogs back. Those poor kids ... Mine would just be heartbroken if something happened to our dog

For me, adjusting to number three was difficult, and he was a dream baby-slept through the night in the hospital, and regularly at 18 days old. Of course the other two were 15 and 29 months old :scared1: Maybe that is why it was hard. Once we settled in, though, it truly didn't matter how many kids were in the mix. Although I do remember the first trip to Disney with the youngest not an infant. I was constantly going: "1...2...3, 4.....5.....1, 2...3....4....5....:rotfl:
 
Discipline, disciple...see a resemblance?

Not entering a debate, because I don't know anything about the Duggars, but I believe the word discipline, comes from the work disciple. I know when we use the work discipline, we think punishment, but it was intended to mean 'to teach' - hence the similarity with disciple. Useless trivia done...back to Jon & Kate.
 
To claim to be Christian, she is very disrespectful, but I also don't think divorce is the answer.

She does yell at Jon A LOT. On the puppies episode she yelled at him about how he was doing the interview on the couch! She said, you'd think he'd know how to do this after all this time. Good grief, it's so emasculating! Jon used to snip back at her but now he looks worn out. Who wouldn't be? That episode where she is berating him about the stupid coupon is just absurd. Poor Jon, he rushed off looking for it when he should of told her to chill out.

Tonights episode about the sledding trip he took with Cara was interesting. At the end when Kate says she couldn't wait to see Cara again. She said she could hardly wait to wrap her in a big hug. What Jon said was a bit surprising. He said it was nice to see all the kids again. I don't know man, sounds like perhaps he was living elsewhere because he ticked off Kate. Maybe he didn't brush the kids teeth well, or didn't use the correct bib or God forbid, let the kids make a mess! :lmao:
 
I think it's more like she's a miserable person and he's had enough of it. Love the show....can't stand KATE!

Christianity is a religion - not a behavior. I mean... if she was Jewish or Buddhist, she'd still be disrespectful. Her religion has nothing to do with it.

He just came back from vacation.... with just Cara. So it probably was nice to see all of the kids, again.
 
I'm going with thinking about cancelling. he just came back from helping his mom out wiht a broken foot and stressed the frustration with being famous everywhere he goes...even when he's alone.
 
OK. That was a weird ending. I kind of figured it was a big lead on to watch the show and then that. (Don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it.):confused3

I thought it was kind of weird too...but, they're leaving us hanging!
 
It has been confirmed that they have already begun taping season 5 so it wasn't all that suspenseful. Just glad to see the family is still intact. I would have to imagine that it would be hard to be under constant scrutiny from the public, but at the same time they chose this life. Rock=hard place.
 
The ending was quite unclimactic. (The commercials were definitely editing at its best.) I thought it was cute how they got up and signed the wall, though (of course Kate had to take the marker from Jon! :rotfl2:).

And the children's museum was awesome!!!
 
Sheesh, all that drama - for nothing!!! Looks like Jon is having difficulty and isnt sure if he wants to continue to film????? but like kate said, they cant go back.....

i really didnt like the show about the 12 as much.....did you guys?
 
Who thinks that Jon's mother really needed *help*? Hmmm?:scratchin He seemed really unhappy! Glad that they are still together (at least for the kids' sake). At least it seems as if one of them realizes that life in the limelight isn't all it was cracked up to be...and anyone else catch that he isn't happy not working outside the home???:sad2: What will TLC come up with for Season 5.:scared1:

I think you got Kate's wording wrong. What she said was that she couldn't wait to have her clan back together. It was nothing about giving Cara a hug. I thought she was going to say that too, but of course she disappointed me. She never shows love.
