We had a pop-up camper when I was young and it was canvas. We were always told not to touch the canvas in the rain because it would leak. My mom doesn't know that we ALWAYS touched the canvas during the rain storms. We never had a leak that I can remember.

Yeah, I heard that too...thirty years ago about canvas! Obviously they were in brand new, nylon, tents with sealed seams!? Who knows. :confused3

We bought a big coleman tent last summer and the spray that they recommend to "seal" the tent. Even the new tents you have to be careful about touching the inside. We didn't have any problems...course it never rained. :thumbsup2

As for next week, the Sight and Sound Theater is in Lancaster and does huge state-of-the-art productions. I haven't seen a show there, but I did see the theater. It's amazing. They are famous for a show that tells the story of Noah's Ark with real animals.

We're going to see VeggieTales on stage this month. Just as impressive, I'm sure. Hehe!!

I was watching the Christmas episode (the one where Kate yells at Jon in Toys R Us) eariler today. One cart was full of electronic educational games, Leapster, Leap Pad etc. Don't know where the idea that she is against them came from.

Yep.... you should seam seal a new tent and use the seam seal at least 1x a yr I believe is what is recommended.

ETA: a friend put a king (queen?) air matress in a 2 man tent when we went camping over the summer. It barely rained during the night and there wa a heavy fog/dew the next AM. Everything in her tent was soaking wet because the matress was pressd up against the sides of the tent.

We've never sprayed to water proof or seam sealed our tents and we have never had a leak. However if you have anything touching the side of the newer tents rain water will seep through. Even morning dew will seep through.

I enjoyed last night's show except for the v-tech commercial.

Thanks!:thumbsup2

Interesting the shirt - across the top - says "If you can't say something nice..." Seems like it may be in response to the recent drama.:rolleyes1

I missed a whole page of this thread ... can you believe it?!

If it's in response ... then I say she's no better than the other side. Air the dirty laundry in private. ALL of them.

Well, to the casual viewer who may not be involved in various message boards, that t-shirt means nothing.

But I do believe things are very petty on both sides. If the Gosselins want to take the high road and not respond publicly to the attacks, I think they should just ignore it entirely.

My DD takes dance with a little girl whose mom is a HUGE JK8 fan. I asked her a couple of weeks ago if she ever read anything about them on the internet (I did not taint her opinion by telling her about any of the crap). She's not a big computer user, so she hadn't heard/read anything. Sometime between then and now, she discovered Aunt Jodi's sister's blog ... OMG, did she have a lot to say today! :rotfl: Bless her heart, she believed every word she read, too. I kept saying to her that somewhere in the middle is the truth. No one blog is correct. I think that made her feel better.

exactly.

Since many people have posted links to negative articles about the show, I thought I would post a link to a positive review. Anyone read this?

And, of course, the bashers even found their way in here too! (read the comments section)

they only got a B+. I wonder what perfectionist Kate thinks of that?! ;)

cute article, though.

I read one the other day, that wasn't quite as gushing, but more matter of fact. It wasn't terrible, either. I'll find it when I get home from my PTO Board meeting.

The cameras were not close enough to it to read it, the words were blurred.

I was wondering if it was something about not stopping in front of their house, etc..????!!!!!!!

I don't know if it's the same sign that everyone else is talking about, but there has been a sign on the side of their garage for a while now that reads something to the effect of "The backyard is reserved for the Gosselin children." I've always taken it as a note to the camera crew to stay out of the back yard because it's the kids' "free zone".

I did notice that credit card pass to the clerk, and he was covering it up. I said to my DH that it was probably a TLC CC that they could spend as much as they like. Loved this episode, was a little slow at the beginning though, but loved it once it got dark and they were having a blast.
If I was him I would have covered it too. People do freeze frame shots of their calendar on their fridge to see what they are doing on any given day. Could you imagine what they would do with a credit card number.

Did anyone else notice Kate's plug for the V-tech gaming system? It really sounded almost like a commercial, it was so blatant. The episode on the whole was cute, but that made me roll my eyes.
I agree, especially with the commercial right after it, there was really no need to see/hear the family promote it.
Since, neither Kate nor Jon have a job to go to in the morning, I wondered why they didn't just wait for a clear night to campout. Camping in the rain is the WORST!
I bet TLC had a schedule that they needed to follow to make sure that episodes are pumped out on time. Any other family would have picked another day.

And next week's episode - so they are going to a show and backstage, but what is it that Kate was sqealing about and made job so happy he actually kissed her on the mouth during the interview? Anyone have a episode summary for next week?

Sight and Sound
In this episode, Jon and Kate take the kids on one of their favorite educational outings. At the nationally known Sight and Sound Theatre, the kids learn about the story of Adam and Eve by watching an interactive play.

The week after this one is the How we got here episode and Carpeting the house (both re-runs). I have a feeling that Sight and Sound is the last episode of the season and Kate gets excited about the Hawaii trip. They have stated that the Hawaii episode will start the new season.

You are very observant as I never noticed it until last nights camping episode. It has to be the same sign you mention as it was small and seemed to be attached to the right side of the garage.

I assumed the message was of a personal nature for those who are allowed on Gosselin property.

Okay...I haven't been able to read the thread for a few days. School has started back and I am overwhelmed. I'm teaching three different courses--3 preps--uggggh.

Anyway--really liked last nights show. I was kind of suprised because I thought it sounded a little lame. I love the smores...the kids were really cute.

Hated the V-smile thing...too obvious. Also, I loved the article. I think Kate has the "don't screw with me" attitude that all my nurses (especially labor and delivery) had.

My favorite part of episode--did you notice Kate saying no to the little kids when they wanted one of the squishy gel-filled balls in line at the Sporting Goods store...then minutes later all six are leaving with a ball:rotfl: :rotfl:

I wasn't exactly referring to the reason he was covering up the CC, as much as whether it was a TLC CC he was using. I'd love to know if he has an open CC account with them, to be able to spend as much as he wants in any of these kinds of stores. I totally understand him covering up the card though, I would have done the same. My curiosity though is killing me. Can you imagine having the freedom to just go into any given store and spend, spend, spend!:)
