Most of that second part has been the rumor for some time. I do think she made the comments about the cribs not matching. Sure that isn't nice, but I can see it as part of her OCD. I have never heard the mony claim until now. I could completely see her saying "if they want to give us something just have them give money or gift cards so I can pick the stuff myself." Right or worng, IMHO that is just who she is. We talked about that earlier in the thread. There were a couple of posters who said they have done, or would have done the same thing. that they didn't want strangers picking out nursery items, wanted a matching theme etc.

Oh, I admit that I would have secretly hated it to have to use six different styles of cribs, bedding, etc. I would have so wanted everything to match!!!

Why didn't the donated bedding and furniture match? I'm sorry, I didn't see previous posts if they explained this.

Maybe they had donated overstocked items and there were not 6 of all one kind in stock.

My friend gave me a whole bunch of baby stuff from the last baby she had. A lot of the clothes were stained (which I am using for cleaning rags) and she just gave a bunch of stuff that was really really worn and not that useful. I felt so ungrateful even thinking that, but that is how I felt. I was also wondering where the good stuff was. I gave her a very very expensive and cute newborn outfit when her baby was born last fall. I'm, like, "Where is that?? I'd love to have that!" I felt like she gave the good stuff to someone else and gave her junk to me.

I didn't realize Kate's parents were in the specials prior to the series...I've watched them so many times - never noticed them. Are you sure it wasn't someone else - like nana janet or nana joan?

As for why kate is no longer involved with her parents...for some reason I remember hearing something on the show that made me think they disaproved of jon being korean or that they went ahead and had the sextuplets. This is COMPLETE speculation on my part but I do remember thinking that personally after hearing jon and kate say something on the show. Of course I can't for the life of me remember what it was but I think it was in the newer episode where they talked about how they met, their wedding, the twins birth, etc. - not the specials.

I thought it was Kate who wanted them to shower and John who wanted to hose them off. I'll have to watch again....

The shower was outside, but Kate didn't want them to touch anything on their way there. It looked like they had to walk on a path thru the fence.

I've seen the specials and I don't believe Kate's parents were in them. The only parent they show is Jon's father. They showed pictures/video from when the twins were little.

The tummy tuck was the 2nd special....you can tell it's a special because they have this woman narrating it which the series doesn't have. There were only 2 specials I believe and then the series, jon and kate plus 8. I think the first special had them moving to a new house and like I said earlier, the second one had her tummy tuck.

Jon's dad was never shown directly because he passed away before the show began filming.

Yep, I stand corrected, but in my defense DH was blabbing during the show so I missed some things until I watched it again.

I seem to remember seeing their Christening at one point, and seem to remember Kate's parents being there. I want to say Kate's dad performed the ceremony.

Coming out of lurking....
Just want to say that two of my children were premies (single births not twins). I was very wary of any used items for my babies. Sure they both had some hand me downs from my other children, good friends and close family members but not many-especially in the beginning. A few people did generously give me things that their "Aunt Millie's neighbor's daughter" gave them. Those things went right to donation. It would drive my dh crazy since he was the one who usually had to drop off the donations. I accepted these things only because I did not want to hurt the feelings of a good intentioned person. However, if I had 6 babies to care for, I think I would have just said no thanks because I would not have the time/energy to re-donate these things.

Premies/multiples have serious health issues at birth. I certainly had concerns about using something that may have come from a strangers mold filled basement or who knows where! Just my own humble opinion.

Way to go Kate!! It must have been difficult for her to see the kids getting so messy but she made it though and didn't even melt down. She is trying to let the kids have fun inspite of her own issues that deserves some praise.

I saw Kate's father in the *before the tups* episode. He was walking Kate down the isle but they blurred out his face. You could see several of her family members with their faces blurred. On that same episode they showed Jon's father with the twins when they were babies.

I believe someone already pointed out that it was the Christening
that they showed her dad performing.
