Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

Busted! :rolleyes1

Wonder if all these supposed "newbie" Disney lovers that just happened to find this J&K thread and ONLY post on this thread are all the same person or just from all the same Kate hating place. Just curious....

That would be my guess. It is either 1 person, or several from the same site.
No way are so many people joining the DIS because of a love for or interest in Disney, and then just happen to make their 1st post and often all of their following posts on this thread.

Who needs an actual life when you can hide behind a keyboard?! ;)

On the subject of peer interaction. When my kids were that young they only went to church once a week also. That was the only interaction they got. There was the occasional visits from cousins, grandparents and such. Why is it such a big deal that she's not in a playgroup? When my kids were old enough then we took them to a preschool.

Also I work at a preschool and their speech doesn't seem that bad. I may not be a speech therapist, but when I worked at Special Ed I saw a lot worse.

Hmmm, seems like some of these posts rerun as much as the show itself...

The anti-Kate, JK8, Figure8, etc. (whoa, that's a lot of 'ate' sounds) seem to be a lot more severe than those who defend the show. Aside from a few posts, I think this thread is pretty darn civil and respectful among posters. Can't always say the same toward the show, but I think the posters are generally civil toward each other. Perhaps some people just like the thrill of the debate?

On another note, was the episode this afternoon the first hour special? I'm a late Jon and Kate (Plus 8, mate) fan.

Did I start this? Whoa, you chicas are brutal. Sorry I guess. WW3 in the dis!

Actually I stand corrected. I will leave my original post above because unlike the other sneaky newbies I don't edit my posts to try to hide what I typed.

Seems that only about 40% of Whitney's posts are on the J&K thread. She was actually actively planning WDW vacations for a month or so before jumping into the thread. Welcome, Whitney (said in all seriousness).

To the newbies who are just here to bash - if you have something intelligent to add to this discussion (pro or con) then join right in but if you are only here to jump in on this one thread to aggressively bash anyone whose opinion differs from yours then please take yourself and the rest of your posting IDs back to where you came. This is a family friendly board of Disney fans. There are plenty of Gosselin hating boards out there if that is the type of site you choose to frequent.

Okay, I know some of you didn't like my opinion of the show, Kate, and the obx episode specifically but now you're calling me a duck, that's going too far ;).
Obviously I'm lost!

Here is a beverage of your choice to get you through the nite.:drinking1

I caught a few minutes of a repeat earlier this evening.....I just have 2 questions.
Who paid for her tummy tuck?
Who took care of all the kids for a 1 1/2 weeks?

Thanks:thumbsup2

Yeah, I don't know anyone who has all this stuff either...but do you know anyone who has agreed to put their life on TV for the rest of us to look at and talk about.

Nope. You're right. I do not know anyone who had sold their family's private life for profit.

ETA This proves my original point that they are unrelatable. I'm not a hater. I am just losing interest in their quest for mo' money, mo' money, mo' money and I dislike a few things I have seen on the show. Mostly from Kate, I must admit. Jon cracks me up and the kids are adorable.

I still kinda like the show but I'm just not sure how much longer I will feel that way.

I don't understand this line of thinking. They started the show and they still had a private life but now that it has become more popular they are selling their private life for profit. If no one was watching the show, it wouldn't matter, the show would have been cancelled long ago.

I go back and forth on the privacy issue. I don't really think that they thought when it started it would become as popular as it has.

But then when I think about the cost of college for 8 kids almost all at the same time, holy cow that is a crazy amount of money. And unless you are very rich when you had the children there is no way most families could afford college for their kids.

So my opinion is that while they may have given up their privacy, they have secured their children's college education.

They seem to be trying in many different ways to add to their income to support their family.

Sure they have gotten perks like Kate's tummy tuck and Jon's hair transplant. I noticed earlier that some poster's complained about how a blue collar family could not afford the tummy tuck and hair transplant, and I agree. But a blue collar family could also not afford to send 8 children to college at the same time!!

Based on the fantasy land they live in & all they are handed I think paying off college loans could help the "kids" see and live some much needed reality.

What fantasy land are they living in? Don't they live in a 4/5 bedroom home? It is not like they live in a 10 bedroom home with every child having their own room and whatever they want.

I really don't see how the kids having to pay off college loans would give them "much needed reality"?:confused3

It would give them a sense of responsibility. The concept of money.

We have 2 actresses in the family, one will be in her 1st year of high school this year and the other one her 2nd year of college. Financially they never have to work a day in their life but the older one works p/t & tutors, she understands responsibility, never take anything for granted and that working for something can actually make it sweeter when it arrives.

A doctor volunteered his services at the request of his wife.

I believe the kids were split up and sent to different houses. (Beth, Jody)
