Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

envious and hypocrisy... nice words. In all my comments, I have never passed judgement on anyone who enjoys this show.

The love fest may resume. I'm done here. :wave2:

But most of those tours are for people over 16 :confused3 Not that the conductor did anything wrong by sharing the info, but bashing Jon and Kate over saying it went over the kid's heads is ridiculous.
I have read here for awhile but have never posted. I do have a question, though. Why is it considered "bashing" Jon and Kate if someone makes a remark about them that someone else doesn't agree with ? I've never accused anyone of "bashing" just because their opinion is different from mine.

I'm not trying to single anyone out but quoted the above solely as an example. I happened to think that it was ungrateful of Jon and Kate to be anything but gracious in the situation. Does this opinion make me a basher ?
I didn't comment on their nice comments about Sesame Place. I didn't think that was necessary since IMO some nice remarks were in order to perhaps show some appreciation to the Sesame Place people for helping facilitate the filming.

I'm not the one that said it was bashing, but if you read around on other boards you will find that there are some people that watch J&K for the sole reason of finding things wrong. They will even point out that the show is horrible, abusive, etc. yet they continue to watch so they can pick apart everything that J&K do. I enjoy watching the show, and I have at times said that I was disappointed in Kate for her actions. The whole cupcake debacle was one example. However, I enjoy watching the kids and it's entertainment. I know if it disgusts me, I can turn it off.

There are sites where they have entire threads started weeks before episodes air predicting what awful things will happen. After the show airs they pick apart every little detail and criticize J&K for them. Kate kissed one of the boys at the end of the Thomas the Tank episode and they are calling it a fake kiss for the camera. They assume she reads the boards (which she may) and only kissed her child because they say she hates the boys. :rotfl2:

Because a lot of people are bashing them. Disagreeing with how they do certain things is one thing, but watching solely for the reason of finding things to point out and complain about is bashing. Other sites are worse but even on here things have gotten ugly. Complaining about Jon and Kate leaving their sunglasses on while talking to someone is bashing... that's such a common thing that everyone does, and that no one I've ever known or met has found offensive, that continuing to talk bad about them for it is ridiculous, especially when the conductor himself had his sunglasses on :confused3

Again, I just don't understand why people continue to watch the show when all they do is complain about it, or worse. Don't they have anything better to do? At least Jon and Kate are out there doing things with their kids, regardless of how it's paid for. These people are sitting in the house watching a fun, family TV show and then running online to talk bad about the people on it... and they call Jon and Kate the "bad" ones  :confused3

I think you can also go back and read over this entire thread and see alot of nasty and petty things that have been said. And it's usually said by the same posters.

I'm all for voicing opinions - whether they're the same or different from mine. But when I see the same posters, week after week, picking on every little, silly thing that Jon & Kate do - yeah, I consider that bashing. And, if you want to bash, then just be prepared to defend your opinion.

Seriously, I thought I read it all but the whole "sunglass" issue - WHOA! We even had people pulling quotes from "Miss Manners" to support that argument!

I'm sorry, but I can't stand this show, especially Kate.

I just had to post this here.

Yesterday I spent the day at my BFF's house. She has a 5 yo and 18 month old triplets. She is home with the kids and has a nanny come in to help on the weekdays from 9-5. Her DH has his own business which she takes care of all the financials for, like payroll, ext... All I could think of while there was Jon and Kate plus 8!!! I saw first hand just how hard it is to take care of her kids, even when you have help. She still had a house to clean, wash to do, food to make, toys to clean up, etc....She still has to be a good mom to her older child, and a wife to her husband(if you catch my drift ;) ) She is exhausted all the time. It is hard most days and that doesn't even cover how hard it is financially, and they have money! These kids require a lot of "things" and when she told me her food bill I nearly fainted!LOL My point is, that age old saying, "until you walk a day in my shoes" really holds true. We can sit here and judge all we want at petty stupid things, but at the end of the day J & K are doing their best. I really have a lot of respect for them, and for my BFF!!

Absolutely!!

I just checked out Gosselins Without Pity for the first time and wow, that site's sad. Whoever the owner is claims to hate the show, yet they sit there and transcribe every episode. That's not just sad but it's OBSESSIVE. Who in their right mind would sit their transcribing and describing in detail every episode of a show they claim to hate? Don't you have anything better to do?!

The unique thing I'm finding is that the people who say disparaging things about the Gosselins are in turn having disparaging things said about them. I read boards for other reality shows and people don't get called bad for talking about the participants in those shows, even the ones with parents and children in them.

It seems like it's real easy to say that if people don't like the show they can turn the channel. Wouldn't the people who don't like reading anything less than complimentary about the Gosselins be well advised to do likewise without commenting about what they've read on other boards ?

It just seems that all the negativity about other viewers and boards is unwarranted. If I wanted to see that other stuff, I wouldn't be here.

I said I wouldn't be back. And after reading everything up until this post ... I realllly won't be back. But in reading this post, I felt compelled to say thank you to this particular poster. Because as I was reading the things that were said about me ... I came to the realization that very people who accused me of bashing ... were bashing me. Talk about hypocrisy.

DS goes to school with twins who have a little sister. Often time I invite them over so their single mom can have a day to herself. So, when that happens, I have three three year olds and a two year old.  I always tell people we're Jon and Kate Plus 8 Divided by Two! It's definitely a challenge for any parent (or parents)!

The thing is, some of the other boards are specifically anti-JK8. This board is just for discussion in general. The anti- and pro-JK8 comments are all expressed here. It's a discussion board. These different viewpoints are going to be discussed. I don't read the other boards/blogs as I don't care to read the ridiculously meticulous pulling apart of the shows, and the majority of the comments I've seen here are nowhere near what I would consider bashing on either side.

I said I wouldn't be back. And after reading everything up until this post ... I realllly won't be back. But in reading this post, I felt compelled to say thank you to this particular person ... because as I was reading the things that were said about me, I kept wondering why the very people who accused me of bashing ... were doing the EXACT same thing to me.

I'm glad someone else sees that.

You're just addicted, and you know it!

Umm, that's called being a parent. And anyone that has "help" 9-5 Monday through Friday has no complaint.

Most of us manage just fine with 3+ children and don't have help ~ or lots of money. ;)

Wow - that was really not nice at all. And pretty judgemental.:sad2:

You know I have to admit, even being her BFF I thought the same exact thing. She would have me on the phone sometimes and not really complain, just vent and I would get off the phone and tell DH, "wow, how can she complain when she has help?" Then I spent the day and got to see and feel it all for myself. Big difference. Again, you can't judge until your in it. I don't care if you have 3 kids, they aren't all the same age. KWIM? It does change things. Some of them don't sleep well, and believe me she is on her own at night with them. One gets PT, OT, and speech. 2 have to get treatments because of Asthma, and one just had surgery for tubes to be put in his ears. 1 of them has been in and out of the hospital with breathing and issues with her lungs. So when you add sicknesses, lack of sleep, stress from the sicknesses, a house to clean, a business to run, a husband to take care of, and family obligations it is a lot. Yes it is what most of us moms do, but not all of us have such a full plate. I have 2 kids myself and am a SAHM and I do everything with no outside help, not even from family. I use to be envious of the help she has. Not anymore! No thanks!LOL I wouldn't want her life at all! Sorry, and I don't mean that to be harsh or mean cause I love her, but.... I will add that she also worked a full time job from home on top of everything else. That is why she had the nanny. Now she just takes care of her DH's company so in the fall she will only have help 2 days a week.

:lmao: I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about the people who watch the show solely to find things to run online and complain about. It's a fun, family-friendly TV show and the fact that people who claim to hate it actually transcribe every episode is just sad. People are discussing things here in both a positive and negative light. Disagreeing with a few things that happen on the show is one thing, but stating your hatred for it and how much you can't stand anyone on the show, and then continuing to watch it week after week just doesn't make much sense to me and I don't get why people do it. I was just questioning why but no one seems to have an answer :confused3 Either way, like I said, if people have nothing better to do then more power to 'em :thumbsup2

I'm sorry, but I can't stand this show, especially Kate.

That's great and you are certainly entitled to your opinion but I really don't understand the need for posts like this one. :confused3 If I hated a show and noticed that it had a thread going for over 100 pages I would have zero desire to click on it.

:thumbsup2 :worship:

There are a lot of shows I don't like that have long fan threads on the DIS. IT would never occure to me to pop in and tell them I hated the show and a person/people on it.

If you don't like people that voice opinions different than yours - I suggest you either contact the OP to change her thread title or start your own thread indicating that it's ONLY for people that like the show. Until then - is it not a general DISCUSSION of the show? Do discussions not typically come with differing opinions???
