Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

i'm thinking that the statement is in response to the new national enquirer article that calls them a 'sham' and repeats what the blogger says (who i feel by virtue of the statement is supported in her asertion that she is a family member). they are also now represented by a p/r firm that may have suggested they do some form of statement (though i would think a professional would have worded it in a better manner).

i think their carefully crafted facade is cracking, they are getting blasted by the bloggers and now even the churches that supported them are speaking out (they cancelled booked appearances claiming to need to spend more time with the kids, then when the churches have gone scrambling to find replacements they learn that the gosselins are available but with $25,000 booking fees/first class air fare/other associated expenses).

do they have a blog as well?

Jon & Kate? Not that I'm aware of - just their official website. Parts of it are kept up to date, and others aren't.

There's also a Facebook fan page, but I think it's just fans of the show. I'd imagine there are message boards with support forums as well. Jon Gosselin also has a Facebook page, but I'm not his Facebook friend ... no idea what his page says or if it's up to date.

On the opposing side, there is the truth breeds hatred blog linked here, as well as several other blogs and message boards questioning the sincerity and truth of Jon & Kate, and their empire.

I, for one, think the hiring of the PR firm is interesting. And I'm curious to know if they still pass the plate for a love offering at the end of each speech.

I have no idea if it's this way everywhere, but for churches around here speakers/groups get a payment that's agreed on ahead of time OR a love offering, never both.

Again, just because someone posted they have hired a pr firm does not make it true.

"But as a reminder, nothing that you read on the internet or in print is true unless it is approved by us."

This is the dumbest quote I've ever read! I would a hope a PR firm didn't write it because they should get their money back if they did!

WTH? Jon & Kate are represented by Media Motion International, listed after Kim Lyons from The Biggest Loser, and before Gunnar Peterson, a personal trainer.

It's all on the Media Motion International website.

Well, then I guess it doesn't make it all that interesting to note then, does it? It seems to be what alot of reality stars do so why is it a big deal that they have done it too?

And, I'm sorry, when posters start quoting "The Enquirer", like a pp did, you have to start questioning the validity of anything they claim to be factual!

I think it's interesting, because I assumed they had one all along.... at first I wondered who was it upthread that thought it was interesting, and then I realized it was me. DUH. I had to go back and edit myself. LOLOL.

What I am curious about is if they're being represented by a PR firm (as opposed to setting up their own speaking enagements) then are they still passing a plate for a love offering. I would think that they'd be making more money having professional representation than they would booking the speaking engagements on their own, making a love offering unnecessary for the overall bottom line.

Yeah, I must agree you with you on this point. I would certainly think they are well-beyond the days of needing to pass around a plate for donations!

of all the stuff I've seen & read online about Jon & Kate, there is something that really bothers me. And it doesn't have anything to do (directly) with the show. I guess, in a way, they do have something to do with the show .. because without the show none of us would really know who Jon & Kate are to debate about their lives. :rotfl:

Anyway.

I have never seen Jon & Kate in person (although I may have an opportunity to in March, if the event isn't canceled) and my knowledge is based solely on blogs, message boards, etc. both good & bad. It is my understanding that in previous speeches, Jon & Kate speak to how hard it is on them financially, raising 8 children. I have no doubt that at some point in their lives, it was a hardship. But now? With the show, endorsements, speaking engagements, donations from fans, etc. I no longer believe that to be the case. Jon & Kate appear to be blessed/compensated very well.

Through all these blessings, we rarely, if ever, see the Gosselins give back. Give back to their church, a shelter, a worthwhile cause ... we don't see it. (if there has been an episode that addresses this, I apologize. I haven't seen them all) This family has been given so much - seen and unseen - and I'd like to seem them give back. Jon & Kate have chosen to put their lives out there for the world to see, they're reaping the benefits of that. But, to those much has been given, much is expected. I'd like to see an episode where they donate outgrown clothes or unused toys ... something. The children are old enough to participate in that sort of activity. And it would make for good TV, too.

I just want to know how long this marriage will last. Kate treats Jon so hateful. She should be so great full having a husband with a good job and is able to stay home with the kids.
Jon does a lot for his family and all he gets is bad mouthed by Kate.
That man deserves better than her!

I agree with you completely! She is so harsh to Jon, and he takes it. There is a limit though, I wonder how long it will take before he lashes back!

Ever notice in the episode where the kids are at Aunt Jodi's and playing dress up and how messy the bedroom is where they are playing. Yet Jodi does not make a fuss over it. She knows they are kids and have a great time playing dress up. Yet if it were Kate she would make them put each outfit away before getting another one out. I agree the kids love going to Jodi's because she is so laid back. She even does craft projects with them and doesn't fuss that they make a mess.
Kate needs to learn from Jodi and get a life. I mean she would not let them roll down the hill when the went to get ice cream come on. What is she going to do when the boys play in mud. She can't go to school with them and make sure they don't make a mess. What is she going to do when they come home dirty.

Oh you can see it in his eyes when the do the recap at the end of the show. He probably can't wait to get to work and be away from her.

Funny, DH doesn't watch the show but he hears it while I'm watching it. He can't stand how Kate talks to Jon. He swears that one day the show will be called, Kate plus 8! :rotfl:

I love the show. I get aggrivated with how anal Kate can be, but I still like her. I even believe everything that I have read on the other blog. Judging by the things I see on the show I can totally see Kate saying and doing those things. It doesn't change the fact that I love watching the show though.

It kind of reminds me of my mother. She reads all of the gossip mags and if someone does something she doesn't approve of she refuses to watch anything that they are part of. I think it's silly. I could care less what they do in their private lives as long as they make good tv. :confused3

I'm amazed at some of the hostility people have for this show! I recently discovered this show a few weeks ago, and have been watching the reruns and coming up to speed.

It's a reality TV show, and of course having a camera in your face constantly will pick up everyone's "not-so-nice" moments. Those who are perfect in their lives may pass judgement, otherwise I think they're receiving some unfair criticism.

I have no clue what it's like to have eight children, and I'm guessing almost everyone else doesn't either. They appear to be doing the best they can, so my hats off to them. Everyone makes mistakes as a parent; but I don't believe everyone else has the added fun of having any mistakes they make televised nationally. Additionally, this show has provided Jon and Kate the opportunity to provide financial stability for the entire family (10 people! Think about how much that costs) for years to come. Who among us wouldn't jump at that opportunity? I don't have a huge problem with them taking advantage of the speaking engagements and other opportunities that have opened up for them. Strike while the iron's hot and make as much as you can. :cool1:

I hope the show runs for a long time, and can't wait until all the sextuplets turn 15 or 16. Teenage drama x 6. You think the house is loud now, wait until high school begins:lmao:

DH can't stand this show because of the way Kate speaks to Jon. DH is convinced that Jon stays out of the fear of having to pay child support for 8 kids!

You're preaching to the choir, as far as I'm concerned. Totally agree with everything you say!:thumbsup2

Unfortunatley, many people are so quick to judge without knowing the whole story.:sad2:
