Ouch, MY head hurts from watching Jon's hair transplant!! :rotfl2:

I can't wait for next week's episodes - I am excited to hear more about how they got together and their first years together. Someone asked about the face of the man giving Kate away was blocked. I do know that Kate's dad is a minister, and he is the one who married them. He is also pastor of the church they used to belong to. I was reading a blog from a woman whose church recently had Jon and Kate speak there. Someone asked about the grandparents: Jon said his parents were divorced and his father deceased, and Kate said that some family members basically can't handle all of the noise that goes along with all of the kids. However, the blogger said Kate didn't seem to indicate that there was a big problem with the parents...although what kind of grandparents, especially Christian ones, wouldn't just love those kids? Still find it strange, but I guess if they wanted us to know more, they'd tell the cameras.

Yeah, it's pretty gross.

God bless Aunt Jody. That woman needs a medal for aunt/sister-in-law/mother of the year. My GOSH. And does she look FABULOUS for having four kids or what?

Ok, now I am really big Jon and Kate supporters, but leaving all of those kids, as sick as they were, for three days so he could have a free hair transplant?? Also, as a PP mentioned, they travel quite a bit to do talks at churches in the area. Who is with the kids then?

Man, I wish my brother had married Jody.

I was only able to see about 10 minutes of the episode but when I saw how sick the kids were I was shocked that Kate didn't stay home. There is no reason that Jon couldn't have handled the hair transplant by himself. I think the kids needed Kate more than Jon needed Kate, you know? But, I know how it can be..dealing with sick kids you just want to get AWAY..I am sure Kate is feeling guilty as all heck now, I know I would be, for sure! I always felt bad leaving my sick kids when I had to go to WORK (to support ourselves!) I would be beside myself to do it for fun.

Yeah - last night's show was pretty icky at times!

I think I watched about half of it with my eyes covered - while my 12 yr.old DD watched in amazement - she thought it was cool! I'm surprised they didn't run a disclaimer before this episode; I know before they showed the episode with Kate's tummy tuck, they warned the audience that they were showing graphic footage.:confused3

I was a little surprised too that they still went with all the kids being so sick. It was fun to see Jody and Kevin take care of the kids though. Parts of it were hilarious! Kevin taking on the chore of cleaning out the potties - was I understanding correctly? Does Kate just dump all the pee from the day into one potty and then just empty that one at the end of the day? Ewww! We cracked up when her brother said "There's just something about this that ain't right!"

Jon also had his comical moments last night. Honestly, I thought this was one of the funniest episodes, yet one of the grossest(is that a word?) also.

I think Jon had to have someone with him b/c of the meds they gave him during the procedure. And did you see how loopy he was? He said he doesn't remember anything, not even getting to the hotel. But, maybe someone else should have gone with him, like Kate's brother.
This was a gross episode and way too graphic.

I was surprised they left the kids too! I think Aunt Jody is a SAINT! Kevin too!! When he was walking around emptying the potties, I kept thinking, why on earth are they still using them???? Those kids are nearly 4 (or are they already 4??), why aren't they using the toilet like everyone else by now? That's just a gross job and not one I'd ask anyone to do!!!

Jon's hair transplant things was just yucky. I didn't need to see them doing that and had to turn away when they were cutting that strip off the back of his head. EWWWWWW

I think next week's episode looks like a good one. I love seeing how much they have changed.

.

That's when I turned it on and I about puked....I'm in the medical field and have watched a ton of surgeries, but that was just nasty to see. I turned it off and didn't watch the rest of it....blech...

last nites episode was for me so sad re. parental priorities. i simply could not take it when kate was saying how hard it is when parents 'have' to leave their sick children. sorry-but going to have cosmetic surgery is not a 'have to', and i suspect that since she said the kids had been sick for more than a week previously, with a phone call before the fact- the place that was doing it for free would have been more than willing to reschedual (and from the way she said that without accepting free offers they could'nt have afforded to fly to los angeles i suspect their air fare and lodging was gifted as well so it's not an issue of non refundable travel expenses). i found it insulting for parents who truly HAVE TO leave a sick child to go to work and provide support or have surgery that is medicaly neccessary (and i've known parents that have reschedualed this as well).

i dunno, it just realy blows me away that they go on and on about how difficult it is for just the two of them to handle 8 kids (and they had the episode back awhile ago about how much more difficult it was when they were sick) yet they seemed to not be at all concerned that jody and kevin would be watching not 8 but 12 kids (9 of whom between the 2 families were sick):(

did anyone else catch that 'to do' list for jody and kevin that the camera panned over? allot of it they blurred out:confused3 but i rewound my dvr to see what was written in bigger red letters on the bottom (the camera stuck to it for a bit longer)-nothing about child care-it was instructions to put the blinds up in the rooms ALL THE WAY EVERYDAY (big bolded letters) because 'blinds down+moisure equals mildew' (and i think it said something like 'yuck'). sorry kate-but if you asked me to come over with my 4 kids, while my 1 year old was sick to then watch your 8 kids all of whom were in varying degrees of illness-ensuring your blinds did'nt get a bit of mildew over the next 72 hours would not be my top priority:rolleyes1

Ya, I caught that. VERY ODD!
It could be that they blurred his/her face because it was someone who didn't want to be shown or didn't sign a release form. Or maybe they were unable to contact that person in time to get the release form signed. There could be any one of a millon reasons. I don't find it it that odd because on reality shows you see it all the time.

I don't see how Jody puts up with it. From what I understand, they are millionaires so they aren't doing it for the money (though I would wonder what J&K would pay a babysitter for three days, lol), but they are truly doing this to be nice. But when Kate leaves notes like this, and the stuff she did after the gum episode, talking down to Jody on public television saying stuff like: "Who in their right mind would give a three year old gum?" I am sorry, but I would NOTTT be offering to babysit anymore. Pay a babysitter just like everyone else. She wants to be real so bad? She can be real and start being nice to those who help her so much.

ITA w/ you on all points!
I really thought they were down to earth at first, but the more I watch, the less I like them. How do you justify leaving sick kids for THAT!??
I understand needing help, but come on...never folding laundry & having your neighbor come over to fold about 10 baskets full of it!
The woman does this every thursday, Kate even said the lady didn't know what she signed up for!
I would like to see an episode that involves them helping out someone else.
They seem to cross the line of "needing" all of this help & take advantage of people, Kate is always saying how everyone loves to help out because they love them so much, I'm sorry but if I was one of those people, my love (for the parents) would be starting to wane.

did you catch jody's husband when he was talking to kate on the phone-he said something about them just finishing their snacks and quickly added 'before you ask, we only let them have one each'-then he did an eye roll into the camera:rotfl: gotta wonder how much flack he's going to catch for that. i also wonder if jodi ended up letting the little girls go ahead with a bath instead of a shower (she said they wanted to take a bath but they were supposed to do showers), and if kate gave her any grief over it (i can somehow see her saying 'sure, it's easy to give in to their wants when you're not taking care of them full time but it just makes it harder for me'-personaly, if i were watching 12 kids i would relish having 3 in a tub so i could just sit on the comode and catch my breath:rotfl: ).

I still love the show and think those kids are too darn cute!

Just want to point out a reminder that we are all watching an edited version of what the producers want us to see. I, too, was a bit surprised that Jon & Kate still took the trip while the kids were sick, but who knows what the true circumstances were. And as far as all the help that Jon & Kate get.......I don't see a gun held to anybody's head - people help because they obviously WANT to. If Kate treated people as badly as some think, or as it even seems sometimes on the show, I'm sure these people wouldn't come around. Again, things are edited to make for a more entertaining show. As far as Jody and Kevin are concerned, they're family for crying out loud! I have put up with an unbelievable amount of crap from my family over the years; still doesn't mean I won't help them out when needed.

I think all the help that Jon & Kate get from various people shows how much the family is loved -- so they can't be that bad.

I don't know if it was because of the editing or maybe because the kids were sick, but the kids seemed a lot calmer and well behaved than normal. Even Mady came in and gave one of the little girls a hug when her and Cara were going to soccer practice with the cousins. It was also nice to see the kids playing in the backyard. Aunt Jody did an awesome job :thumbsup2

Kevin seems like the complete opposite of his sister. Guess she got all the obsessive compulsive genes.

I agree with you 100%. It's a reality show - the producers can choose to spin it any way they want, and choose to edit what they want to make it more interesting. Every reality show has a villian/villianess - or it wouldn't get ratings. I think they choose to spin Kate as an over-the-top OCD mom so we all go "wow she's really nuts" yet we can't stop watching to see what she does next! Do I think she's OCD? Yes. Do I think she's a great mom? Yes. We all sit here passing judgement on what they do but we truly don't know the facts. They may very well pay Kevin & Jody cold hard cash to watch the kids. They may send them on a trip for helping with the kids. They may have cancelled the trip because the kids were sick & maybe Jody insisted they go. The grandparents may be very involved but just won't sign a release to be filmed for the show. We just don't know, so why bother speculating? I think it's a neat show to see how an ordinary couple raises 8 little kids. Period. Whether they do it for the right or wrong reasons isn't my business - but they've got me watching every Tuesday! They seem healthy & happy & well-rounded. A lot of posts here say how Maddy is such a spoiled brat - I can think of about 10 little girls that age that I know that act the same or even worse! I think she's normal, and quite hilarious at times. Everyone thinks the potty thing is abnormal - ok so it may be odd to those of us that don't have sextuplets that were just potty trained - but so what? It's obviously working for them. That doesn't make it wrong.

That's just my 2 cents!

Well said!:thumbsup2

I watched most of the show with my eyes covered. So much grossness last night. Jon's hair transplant, all the poop, pee, snot, and vomit. YUCK!

Well said, it just amazes me how people rip apart on this family. Yes they put a show out there for all of us to watch. But it's just unbelievable how judgmental and opinionated people are over a 1/2 hour show that is heavily edited.
