Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

I believe they have production meetings and will film "events" Like the weekend trips to farms, etc...

I think on one of these threads there was a link to a blog about Kate and her narcissim - that was enlightening to say the least -

I wonder if they talked Oprah into spending a day at their house!! I wonder if they found a way to move to a larger home???

and I wonder what happens if you take those huge pinecones from the Sequoa Nat'l Park?

I agree with every word! Too much. The amount of "help" they are provided just floors me, and they seem to expect it like it is owed to them. I think there is an entitlement on their part that is growing with each episode.

I, honestly, cannot stand to watch this woman for one minute. I am a mother of six and take care of two of my mentally challenged nieces(with medical issues as well). To worry about blinds would be like a vacation.

I just watched the video (ty for the link) Did I hear right? They were only married a couple months before fertility treatments began? And then she got preggers very soon after that? I find her to be controlling but that is incredible that a DR. would begin treatments so soon after marriage. Did anyone else catch it or did I hear it wrong?

You have my utmost respect and admiration :flower3: I only have one child and they do more than we do. They certainly can afford more than we can and my DH is an IT director (I say that as Jon is IT I believe).

I heard that too. Maybe she or he already knew there would be issues before even getting married.

I wonder what the situation is with the move they were talking about. If they are sending the little ones to a preschool an hour away, perhaps they are looking or have already purchased a house closer to the church/school.

i don't think you heard it wrong-

i noticed that in the article associated with the link someone posted and then went to wikipedia to see if i was hearing right.

according to wikipedia and the other gosselin web sites, they married and kate had already 'suspected' she had fertility problems so they immediatly turned to fertility treatments such that they were married in june and got pregnant in february (i thought this odd because the diagnosis she has has allot of different factors that can cause it, many of which are successfully treatable-and specialists promote full evaluation of potential treatable causations before fertility drugs are ever introduced-so unless you've been trying to get pregnant and have had everything this diagnosis can include as contributable and correctable ruled out- how do you know that the standard reccomendend treatment regiment won't work?:confused3 ).

maybe someone else who has this type of diagnosis or knowledge of it can comment-but unless they had some kind of hellacious private insurance there has to be a bit more to the story than what is publicized (most private insurance carriers IF they cover fertility treatment, are going to require a woman to totaly exhaust any convential treatments that address the issue before they fund what has a high likelyhood of resulting in a high risk, multiple birth situtaion.

I watch the show and enjoy it most times. I have a question-what ever happened to Beth-the"best" friend. Why is Jodie watching all the kids and 'Beth" is never talked about. Prior to the Denver snow show--Beth was the preferred babysitter and Jodie was never asked or in the shows.

beth is listed as being the co-author of the book they are putting out this fall.

maybe she just got tired of being the sitter when they've already got one (well two if you count the sitter's daughter) that they hired. she's got 4 kids of her own so like with jodie-it would be quite a handful. she also did'nt seem too amused by maddie's treatment of one of the little girls on the snow trip and the hissy fit she threw when beth insisted she change her behaviour so maybe she finaly said 'enough' (i thought it was awfully nice of her to fly in to basicly just serve as childcare and then have to rush back in order to not miss her own child's birthday-quite a friend).

The family will be on the morning show with Mike and Juliete right now on Fox.

No, they haven't been on yet. It is 9:22 here now.

I was diagnosed with PCOS - which I think is what Kate had. I knew for a long time that there was a problem, mostly because of irregular cycles, but there are lots of other symptoms that can be associated with it. Sometimes the diagnosis can be made with a simple blood test, and can be treated easily with meds, sometimes not. Most of the time it is treated with birth control pills - which defeats the purpose when you want to conceive. So if your PCOS can't be easily treated, and you want to get pregnant, I don't think there is any reason to wait.

Kate might have known she would have a tough time getting pregnant, and wanted to start right away after she was married (maybe even before) in case it took a very long time. It might not have been the ideal time for them, but when you know there will be obstacles, and you know you want children, you don't want to waste any time.

Also, the treatment they had was not all that radical. Ovulation inducing medications are widely prescribed as a first step. Those drugs carry with them an increased risk of multiples. PCOS and fertility drugs can also make the fertilization environment less than ideal, so IUI can help increase the chances of conception.

I don't know about the insurance situation, but a typical IUI cycle with fertility meds would probably cost only about $1,500 - they may have paid out of pocket.

I enjoyed their segment on Fox so much more than the Today show. Jon and Kate looked much more relaxed and the hosts were fun and laid-back. I thought they handled the kids really well. (it was interesting to see that they were wearing the exact same clothes they wore on the Today show the day before!)

I thought the same thing! Kate having her kids wear the same cloths 2 days in a row, doesn't seem like her!! Maybe their segment on the show on Fox was taped yesterday after they were on the Today show?

I agree, the hosts on Fox were great with the kids.

I was thinking, also, that maybe both were taped on the same day; but the hosts made reference to yesterday being Jon & Kate's anniversary - which they did mention on the Today show.

They were very cute matching outfits; I would have at least thought that Jon and Kate would have changed their clothes though. But who knows anymore? These shows always seem to slip a taped segment in under our nose!

I have to second what Mickeyboat says here and even with fertility treatment, you still my not be successful. That is where I am and have even been told that Invitro won't work for us. We paid close to $3000 per treatment in our area and we are not in a large town either. I have tried every homepathic treatment and even visiting the fertility statues at Ripley's, so Kate was one of the lucky ones.

Jon and Kate may also live in one of the few states that are required to provide some type of Infertility coverage.

BTW, I love this show and this family, even though Kate can be annoying at times. I think I am very much like her in many ways.

This is my first post but I have been reading this thread for some time now. I just have to say that I too love the show. I admit Kate is a bit high stung but I won't even pretend to know what it takes to do what she does, therefore I will not judge her. I only have two children and some days I feel like I'm going crazy! I honestly do not even want to imagine taking care of eight on a daily basis. And as far as the comments about fertility treatments, I too have PCOS. I was actually diagnosed when I was only 16 because my periods were so irregular. The doctor actually told me then that my chances of getting pregnant without meds was very unlikely and that as soon as I was ready to get pregnant they would give me ovulation meds. So it is very possible Kate knew she would have trouble conceiving before actually even trying to get pregnant. Also, doctors don't just start anybody on fertility treatments. They must have known of her condition and felt comfortable about starting her on treatments. My husband and I wanted to try for atleast a year before going on meds just because of some of the risks involved with the medication. It took us eleven months to get pregnant with our son and we even had an appointment already set up to go in and speak with the doctor about fertility options. We glady cancelled it when we finally became pregnant, but it was very depressing getting a neg. pregnancy test EVERY month. So I do not blame Kate for not wanting to go through that stress.

Brandy - Just want to say :welcome: to the Dis! Glad you posted! Hope you can stick around. Most of us here really do enjoy the show! I agree - Kate seems a little crazy sometimes - but.....aren't we all at one point or another?

Not only were the kids were the same clothes so were jon and kate. So to me it was obvious that it was taped the same day (yesterday). Many shows tape shows the day before and make it "appear" as if it it the same day. So them making reference to their anniversary being "yesterday" is just part of the illusion that it is live/same day.

Ellen tapes the day before and tapes both Friday & Monday on Thursday. So she will "pretend" that it is the day that the show is aired, even when it is upto 4 days before.
