Do I believe she is a "money grubber"? No...but I don't think she should have posted that video on the internet.

What about Kate's brother? Of course he has to side with his wife, but what if he wants to mend fences with his sister? It will be pretty hard now since his wife and his sister in law have been bashing her on the internet.

I said it before, I don't care how I feel about my brother or sister if my husband and one of his relatives were bad mouthing them on the internet I would be livid!

But as far as mending fences, I believe it's past that point. Especially if what's been posted about Kate's relationship with the other members of her family is true.

That is the ONE thing I keep coming back to. Where are Kate's people? Where are her supporters? No one is surfacing on these blogs and message boards telling people they've got it all wrong. That Jon & Kate aren't this way, that TLC replaced Aunt Jodi with Jenny, or whatever.

Are there supporters? Have they been silenced by TLC, Jon & Kate, the PR firm? Has someone told these people (if there are any) that it's better to keep silent? And they're all doing that? Not even posting anonymously?

I suppose it's possible.

I love the new website. I think it is interesting that Kate said--some family members don't want to be on TV and some don't support their decision to be on TV.

The article that was posted is very one-sided...I disagree that kids have changed for the negative. Yes, Mady and Cara sometimes have meltdowns that they are too old to have. But you know what...so does my DD and she doesn't have tups to contend with. I disagree also that article puts kids in category of child actors. First, it is TLC not MGM. Second, they are still going to a regular school and still have lots of off days without the camera. I think the biggest risk for child actors is when they don't go to school with "regular" kids. Other kids have a way of knocking someone down a peg or two if needed.

I do think if..and I really mean IF, Kate and Jon are loosing close friends and family members due to strife over the show--then I think they should reconsider their options. I have said before, I'd like to see the show move to a format of seasonal specials...highlights from the last three months. Even a two hour long episode every three months. That way it will stay fresh and J&K and kids may have less pressure.

I just keep going back to what a friend of my dad's told us about his son--a country music singer. He said nothing in show business is what it seems and people are nasty when others "make it big."

i've thought about this too.

part of me thinks that maybe her friends and those she's close to want to just stay out of the picture but then i read a comment by her where she says something like 'the show is our life, our life is the show' and that makes me think in an entirely different way. so many say that the show must be set up to make it more entertaining, that what we see is'nt the reality (a family that spends the bulk of their time going on vacations, traveling, going to amusement places, having special treatment at places) but kate herself is saying it is their reality. if indeed that is the case, they do appear to lead a very insulated life with few (and currently no) friends or family-you never hear that one of the older girls is off at a friends house, you never see a moment interrupted by a phone call (which you do see on some other reality family shows-calls from friends or family, one of the parents dropping off or picking up a child from a play date...), you never even hear one of the kids mention a friend from school (and i can't speak for their kids but mine were always chattering about this one or that one from school or sunday school).

when beth and jody were being shown on the show kate talked of them (beth esp.) now it's like they have dropped off the face of the earth. the same with the 'nanas' and their husbands. they would be shown helping out and kate would talk about them conversationaly with the kids or jon even when they were'nt around-now nothing.

i realy feel for these kids. former child actors talk so much of how it was so hard for them when they developed relationships with others on the set of productions and how they missed these people when the productions ended. many talk of how their parents went to extremes to ensure they had very separate lives away from their productions so that they could have relationships that could naturaly continue. if the gosselin's lives truly are as kate says then i suspect that they will greatly miss what i perceive to be the only enduring non parental relationships they have-those of the production staff. someday the cameras, the lights and the production staff will leave-and there will be at least 6 little children who i suspect will feel a tremendous confusion and void in their lives.

If that's the case, why didn't Mr. Peterson write something when they first approached him? I believe he researched the show, the family, and what the emails said and drew his own conclusion. For all we know, the GWoP people may not have been the only group to contact Paul Peterson.

Ali Lohan is obviously a much older child (teen). And she's wanting to launch a full fledged career. I don't think anyone has a problem with her doing her own reality show based on what their end goal is. That family has their own set of issues (but don't we all?).

Denise Richard's kids are not on air nearly as much as the Gosselin children.
Plus (I don't watch Denise Richards) but does she ever show her children puking, peeing, pooping, bathing or throwing all out tantrums??

There are varied reasons. Some choose not to be on camera, some are really not here on a daily (or weekly) basis for different reasons, and some don’t understand our job and how it relates to our “real” lives…which is still puzzling to us… “Our life is our show and our show is our life,” I always say and it is a very hard balance!

These kids are working in TV ... not children of TV stars. They are the stars.

I agree with the last statement. They have no real refuge. They are shooting 50+ episodes for the upcoming season. Since they shoot 10-20 times the footage they use, that's a lot of camera time. Denise Richards' show is cancelled by the way. The blurb about the show being their life...makes me sad. Wish they would do occasional specials showing their real life and interaction with other people. Not choreographed outings with the 10 of them and then tons of interview couch.
The Roloffs are so different...friends, family, jobs, hobbies, phone calls, chores, pets, school, errands, messes (lots of messes!) and many less episodes. Jacob was not much older than the twins at first.

I would support family or friends without a doubt if lies were being circulated. Heck I'd even stand up and say, "I do her hair, and she's super nice to me." " I wait on them at Red Robin and they come when there are other people in the restaurant, pay their own bill, tip me well and are very pleasant." Why not?

Look at the response given to those who have had personal experience and give their opinion. The avid lovers tear them apart. I can pretty much guarantee the same response would be dealt to the supporter by the haters. Why subject themselves to that? I'm also wondering if supporters would even be believed. Oh, Kate just paid them to say that, etc.

That being said, I don't think anyone here (except for the occasional poster) falls into either of those categories, but you can see what I'm getting at here.

P.S. Madge, have you been to the new site? Did you see the community service?? I thought of you when I read that!

I have no idea why people that know the Gosslins aren't defending them other than they have been asked not to perhaps. At any rate, if you click on the "Devotionals" tab at the new Gosslins website they do indicate why they have not been talking as Jodi has. Here is one quote:

the donation to the pediatric cancer charity? Nice touch, but I would have liked to see it more prominently displayed or something ... tucked way down at the bottom of the homepage seems like an afterthought or something. Maybe not. I'm not sure, LOL.

How does their site generate income? I'm confused about how that works, exactly. Most sites/blogs I know of that do have ads or whatever on them. I haven't really looked it over much, though. Just the Q&A part.

PS. I'm in full-consignment sale prep mode. The system locks down Tuesday at noon and I haven't started entering new items yet AND I just found another tub of clothes

I agree. Also, if this is their "real life" I feel sad for all of them. They don't get phone calls. You don't see the twins going for sleepovers at a friends house. Do they get invited to parties? Has another couple ever come over for dinner? Have they ever been invited for dinner at someones home? If they haven't, I have a good idea why (outside of Kate being so unpleasant). I bet no one wants to worry about all her rules and if they cook "organic" etc. We used to have friends where the wife was on a strict diet, and never ate fat or anything fried. I had them for dinner and she picked at the broccoli and pushed her food around a while and wouldn't eat because she was scared of the fat content like one dinner would kill her. It wasn't even a high fat dinner. It was just that she didn't "control" what went in to it, so she couldn't eat it. That was the last time I ever had them for dinner.

I wouldn't want to have Kate to dinner, because I imagine she would be too bossy about what I fed the kids. I would never go to dinner at their house, because, like, God forbid one of my kids spilled something. Her eyes might roll back in her head and she might start spewing pea soup as her head rotated on her shoulders.

Someone said earlier in the thread that theyoften think how thier life would look on tv, the spats with spouse etc. I think about that too. I know there are times that our snipping would look worse to outsiders than it feels to us since we know each other so well. But on the flip side, I watch their show and think, well , if a camera crew followed us for just this weekend, they would have seen us at 3 parties, 3 soccer games. They would have been here when my best friend who lives 3 hours aways stopped by unexpectedly yesterday and I made lunch for her family. They would have seen my son being invited to a friends pool, and then would have had to follow me to drop off clothes for him because the family asked him to spend the night. They would have seen my kids running in the yards of the neighorhood having races with about 15 neighbor children. They would have been here when my mom stopped in just to stop in and see the kids. When my FIL came to the my sons soccer game. I know I don't have 8, but I have four, and honestly, I would live the same way with eight, I would just be putting four more place settings out at meals. . I would go nuts without my family and friends.

Sounds like my weekend. Even though reality television is an oxymoron, they seem over the top isolated. If they shoot 4 days each week for 12-16 hours as I have read, that's a lot of time, and they are all alone. Even when surrounded by people in public, and the crew/staff, whatever, they are all alone.

I think a lot of people compare their lives to JK's, but in most cases, there really is no comparison. You can't really say you would live the same way with eight children because you don't have the experience. I had 12 children at our place for two weeks last August eek: ) while our pre-school was moving to a new facility. It was definitely eye-opening, but that is nothing compared to someone who has had that many children since birth, through the nights, etc., etc.

I had a memory box of special things that I knew I would grab in case of a fire. Well, fire happened when I was alone in the house one night, thank goodness, and all I could remember was my phone. You never know how you will react until in the situation. Best laid plans...

As for Paul Peterson's comment, the GWOP group have been hounding him for months. I don't think that GWOP care about the kids, they have just developed a hatred for Kate and want her show/cash flow yanked.

You better get on it, lady! I picked up my stuff today. I spent $360 and should be getting $500.90 in two weeks. Then we get to do it again in two weeks!! I know I have another box, already tagged, buried in the garage. We just cleaned out the garage, and I think I know where it is, but it's been too hot to look for it.

I just found another tub in the basement. Thankfully, it's already tagged, so I just have to transfer it over from last year's sale to this one. I'll probably adjust the prices since it didn't sell last year

I just need to get things organized and entered by noon on Tuesday. I've got until Thursday to actually get it tagged. And I NEED to find my tagging gun. I am in no mood to go the safety pin route.
