Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

I didn't think the cake thing was a big deal. She said she was going to do it with all the kids, but they were having fun playing and decided to just do it with whoever walked through the kitchen...and then it got to be a girl thing by the time Joel came by. You saw the little girls sort of try to hide the cake from Joel, I just think by that time they were thinking of it as "their cake."
I bet Joel forgot all about it by the time he got to the bottom of the stairs.

On a side note...the fact that I wrote a whole paragraph about this sort of distrubs me. :rotfl:

I loved how (either Alexis or Leah) kept telling the other kids to cut up their piece of cake so they had 5 pieces! :lmao:

I just found this board so I haven't read all pages, which I plan to. I've been to the tlc site and there is not a board for Jon & Kate plus 8, but there is for the other shows. Anyone know why?

Also, has anyone noticed there is no toilet paper beside the potties?
As OCD as Kate is, is she not teaching the basic hygiene of using a toilet?

Has anyone read this blog from Aunt Jodi's sis?

You're braver than I am...I've been wanting to read this thread, and then not, and then wanting to..flipflopping back and forth. I don't think I have the stomach to read all 165 (or is it 166 now) pages of this monsterbeast.:rotfl:

The most recent episode that aired (4th of July beach ep) made me yell at the TV, "Stop being such a bleedin WITCH, Kate.". I guess until that particular ep. I didn't realize how witchy she really could be. Jon must be a SAINT to be married to her.

I agree alot of the boy/girl rules seem weird, but things at my house are similiar. My boys are much rougher and more wild than my dd. If they went into her room to play I can guarantee Hannah and Gabriella would be missing there heads  . At the age of 4, my dd again would listen to what I was saying and would be a help. I used to let them decorate their own individual pieces of cake, because otherwise the whole thing would be a mess. It is very hard to understand the dynamic between different gender siblings of the same age., but nature vs nurture is evident.

What's funny though is that the girls seem much more aggressive than the boys. It's always the girls being rough, hitting the boys, jumping in the pool, getting close to the animals, etc while the boys seem more shy and cry at the drop of a hat. I point that out in every episode

I just felt so bad for Joel, he looked so sad. I would love to know how much time had passed between the cake making and Joel going out to ask Jon if he needed help. It seems to me like TLC might be editing to make Joel look like the poor, left out, sad one.

LOL...with Kate saying "Jon, don't do that. We don't do illegal things"

I think she also said "because we don't want to see you carted off to jail. You might miss me." I cracked up at Jon's response: "Yeah, I'd miss you like a toothache!":lmao:

I thought Jon and Kate were pretty funny last night. I know alot of people think she's so mean to him but then I watch an episode like last night's and I think they're really sweet together.

I also LOVED the way the hair braids looked on the girls! I knew exactly what Kate was talking about as far as wanting their hair to be easier and not hang in their face. The last time we were at Disney, my DD got the exact same braiding done and man, did it make life easier for our time there! I would love to see an episode where they take those braids out though - now that was a pain in the neck!

GMTA! I was going to say "maybe they take after their Mom" too ;) I see others beat me to it. We know Maddi is Kate Jr. for sure!
;)

She sure seems a lot like Kate, doesn't she? Wow.

But then again, I've heard that tween girls ALWAYS have that kind of temper and throw tantrums at the drop of a hat.:confused3

Omg...my DD's got their whole head braided in Jamaica and it took HOURS to get out! What a nightmare!!

ewwww just realized I used there instead of their, I hate that

No capitilization at the beginning of your sentence and no punctuation at the end either.

NO CAKE FOR YOU!;)

I always catch my 7-year old cousin doing and saying a lot of the same things as Maddie. Everything is sooo dramatic and their lives are soooo unfair... It's just that bratty stage  Some of what Maddie does goes above and beyond that... getting frustrated is one thing but at 7 she should know better than to hit the little kids :headache:

Did you mean twin girls? ;)

I have an 8 year old dd, and believe me, she can be a challenge. BUT she doesn't even come close to acting like Maddie does. I am wondernig why they keep showing Maddie and her tantrums?! I know the kids watch their own episodes.........

She definitely goes above and beyond a lot of times. They said they were getting her help though so something must be up.

7 she should know better than to hit the little kids

You would think.

But then again, I remember when I was that age I got in trouble for ripping out my sister's (who is 3 years younger than I am) strawberry-shaped earrings. And for hitting her in the head with things.

When I was in HS and my brother was in upper elem/middle school, he'd come into our room in the morning and wake us up by throwing shoes at us.

The stuff we did makes these kids look tame by comparison.:lmao:

I don't really consider Mady and Cara tweens though? Do you guys?

I have a 12yr.old - that's what I consider a tween. (and no, she doesn't pitch a fit at the drop of a hat. She's perfect.;) ) I was a little surprised at the twins' behavior throughout the episode last night. What are they now - 7 or 8?

And how about trying to get that family picture on July 4th? I was stressed just watching them trying to do it!

I made my sister snort a pearl up her nose!:rotfl:

I have 7 & 8 year old DDs, and there is drama, even hitting in our house. My kids are both in the same grade, and are often treated like twins. I think that type of dynamic (same gender, same age) has a lot more challenges than many people think.

I feel for Maddie. First she has a "unique" mother, she is a twin to an athletic and successful sister, and overnight gets 6 siblings. In come the notariety and the cameras. I don't know if my DDs would be able to handle all that without blowing a gasket on occasion.
