Any publicity is good publicity for the show.

I was surprised to see Tony walk away when that reporter in the clip posted earlier told him that another of his dancers found him to be tough. He said ask the other eight and walked away. These are the interviews they should have prepared him for, when they gave him Kate as a partner. I'm pretty sure that Shannen is doing a jig each night, that Kate took all the 'bad girl' spotlights off of her LOL.

Wow, Kate said in the above interview that they only have 4 days of practice and learning/teaching. Yikes, how do these people do this?

wonder how accurate this is ... it certainly falls in line with the whole staff doesn't like Kate reports ...

Remember when Kate used to say, "You get what you get and you don't get upset". LOL
She is such a whiner!

Does the coach/teacher pick the routines? I don't see the sense in a harder routine, if the judges are just going to say how bad it's done. It seems to me, if people can't dance, like Buzz and Kate (although Buzz pretty much just walked around and Kate..oh, that was bad) why not pick simpler routines that can be done good? The points may be low, but at least we don't have to watch a big snafu of no one even being able to do the steps and the frustation of both the teacher and the student when it's done poorly.

I apologize if this has been posted. It is crazy. He really doesn't like her does he? He won't even look at her. Tony has the rep of the sweetest, least abrasive pro from what I have read. Can you imagine her with Maks!? I guess that is why Tony was offended. He is hating his job right now. I honestly feel sorry for Kate and the kids. She is in way over her head. Why does she look so old and weird? Is it the hair? Makeup? I always thought she was quite pretty. Not on DWTS. She is fairly tall isn't she?

No, why would it affect her any more than any other mom on the show? I think he kids would be proud of her for trying. My kids would have thought it was hysterical, knowing my dancing ability.

Because she is so bad and so rude. They weren't.

I think the show picks the song that has to go with the type of dancing. So either they did the Waltz/or ChaCha these past 2 weeks. And the song was picked for them. It was up to the professional to choreograph the dance to the music.

Kate turned 35 this week.
Most of the Jon and Kate Plus 8 shows were of her in her late 20's, early 30's. When I saw her picture this morning, I noticed she wasn't looking like the young mom anymore, but more like the middle age mom-(is that awful for me to say?)

One thing about last nite's show. After the "pussycat doll"-sorry I can't remember her name got done with the judges scoring, Brooke made a comment that it doesn't matter how well they do with the scoring, it is how many votes they get, so call in. So, just because they are the best right now, doesn't necessarily mean, they are receiving the most votes. Like someone said, people could be calling in for Kate, just so she stays on the show, whether they want to see her fail, or do good.

I doubt that her kids are having a hard time with her being on the show. They are practicing in her house and the kids prob get to see them practicing and know how it's going. In any case, she's signed on, and I doubt she can get out of it now until she's voted out. Other than the part they showed us with Tony quitting, I haven't seen anything else that shows me she is being any more difficult than a few of the others. I think this is hard for her, and I think Tony is frustrated. He was given someone who is a lousy dancer, and I think he is finding it hard that he may just not be able to teach her, and he's used to doing well.

I do think Kate has to learn that they are taping her bad moments and even if there are good ones, that's not what they will show. She never did seem to get that on K & J and she isn't getting it so far here.

I think it is the giant glaring white teeth. They make her face weird. $1300 each according to 'sources'. I usually don't comment on her appearance, but she looked better before this latest overhaul.

Ya, that interview with Tony and Kate was very tense. He looked incredibly frustrated, irritated and angry with the reporter. All she said was that she'd heard he was a tough teacher. He then asked her who told her that and she said Nancy Odell (one of previous partners). Acting very defensive and agitated, he said to ask the other 9 partners he's had if he's a tough teacher. Then he simply walked away. It was so strange, Tony has always come across as very level headed, patient and gentle as a teacher. Kate must have really ruffled him for him to act that way.

I can only imagine the stress of learning a new dance in such a short amount of time. I would be beyond stressed, seriously terrified.

I've wondered that too. The rehearsal footage shows the dancer teaching the celeb a new, complicated dance. The celeb looks stressed out and the dancer just states that they NEED to learn this routine because they NEED to push themselves. Wouldn't a clean, solid routine score better than a complicated one that is riddled with mistakes? I'm so glad I'm not on that show!

I doubt that her kids are having a hard time with her being on the show. They are practicing in her house and the kids prob get to see them practicing and know how it's going. .

I'm glad that you doubt the kids are upset, but has Kate done anything positive on DWTS? Can't say "she can't dance but at least she's sweet, trying real hard, and looks better than ever."
Can't say, "she's a witch to coach, but boy can she dance a hole in the floor!"

I hope you are right. I hope the kids are excited for her to be on the show...I just doubt it; especially after last night.
What must the kids at school be saying?

Oh my. They gave her the nicest coach hoping he could deal with her. That poor man looked like he had just been abused in the back room and like he was about to cry. He had to walk away. I feel so sorry for him. But good for him for walking away and not standing next to that woman listening to her be fake and say "it's all good". Good for him for not going along with the lie.

OK Kate. When you used to abuse the heck out of your ex-husband, we would hear the line "they only show the bad stuff, but they didn't show us working it out later" "that was only 30 seconds out of 2 weeks" So now we are to beleive that this is happening with a different man on a different show, and for some reason it doesn't happen to the other dancers. People don't treat people that way. There shouldn't be that 30 seconds. Perhaps it's not the magic of TV making you look like a witch, perhap you are actually a witch.

and for some reason it doesn't happen to the other dancers. People don't treat people that way. There shouldn't be that 30 seconds.

What doesn't happen with the other dancers? No one saw any of the others not getting along? No one thought Shannen wanted to walk? The guy who just couldn't get th steps..he didn't look frustrated as heck, along with his coach? I thought he was going to give up. Sorry, but I really see the drama in this and this drama is what is going to get people coming back to DWTS to see what is going to happen next. It worked on K & J, and it's going to work on DWTS. I must be the only one who see's the frustration in both the person trying to learn to dance (why on earth did they even hire her to be on, if it wasn't for the drama, it sure isn't for the dancing) and Tony, the person trying to teach her. I saw Kate trying to tell her teacher she wasn't getting it the way he was showing it. Obviously, if you saw her dance, you realize she wasn't getting it. Not Tony's fault..she can't dance. If anyone other than Kate on that show would have said that, I doubt we would have seen it as her trying to boss him. She can't dance. It's really that simple. I don't think Tony will accept that it doesn't matter how hard he tries..she can't dance. Tony seems to be a nice guy, and Kate doesn't seem to get she really needs to keep her mouth shut, because anything she says will make her look like a witch, but really, she can't dance, and I just don't think he can teach her.
I see a lot of drama and high ratings. I think this is couldn't be going better if the producers planned it. Oh, wait..did they?

By the way..that is an actual line from Jon after they split..that they only showed the bad stuff and didn't show them working it out later. Just thought I would mention that :)

I never watched J&K+8. I'd read on here about some of her behavior. After the split, her husband came across as childish and a pain, so I gave her the benefit of the doubt.

But last night my husband, who didn't really have any idea who she even was, commented that she must really be something for Tony to act that way. He said that he's probably the nicest guy on there (and I agree).

She definitely can't dance (although I have some complaints again this year about the playing field being nowhere near level ). But if Dial Idol is right, and she's at the top, that's a sick joke. :sad2:

No I didn't see any couples interacting even close to the way Tony and Kate were. Their body language is not warm. The other couples were frustrated and tired, but seemed to like and respect one another. She tried to have him fired. They didn't sit together before they danced. I think their "make up" was definitely staged.

Earlier on this thread it was mentioned that DWTS would be a sort of test for Kate. Was it Jon bringing out the worst in her?

I saw a thing on AOL not long ago, showing several well-known people and whether or not they looked their age. Kate was one of the people featured, and the people writing the article gave very non-judgmental comments about Kate's appearance (i.e. it wasn't a snark-fest) and why she looks older than she does. The number one reason, which we would all agree on, is the tanning. It's not helping her skin tone at all. It's making her look older.

Sanjaya on American Idol. Remember him? He was on for weeks after he should have been voted off, knocking off people who were far more talented. It was crazy.

Yeah, I know that Jon said this, but like everything else Jon used to say, I figure it was fed to him by Kate to say. And obviously it wasn't true then (there must have been many things they didn't "work out later") and I don't think it is true now.

I think we talked about that here. Didn't they say something about because she had kids? It was a strange comparison between 3 woman. I don't really know the other two they were comparing her with, but people thought the comparison was strange.

Well, that's another we'll have to agree to disagree. I saw a couple of them not so happy with each other IMO. What they showed us was Kate trying to tell Tony how to teach her so she could get it. She wasn't getting it (and I don't think she will). He was insulted (rightly so, since I'm sure he thought she was saying he wasn't teaching her right) and put down his mic and quit, after saying he taught teachers how to teach. While I don't ever remember seeing that in the past, I do think that was a real plus for DWTS, to have all that drama. I have no idea if Kate tried to have him fired. I will be watching for him to tell us that, once he can actually talk about the incident. If she actually did, she will go down another notch for me.

Did all the other people sit with their partners? I saw Kate in the background talking and sitting with one of the other female dancers, but I didn't think it was important to note if they were all sitting with their partners. I didn't keep it, so I can't go back and look.
