Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

I'm no lawyer, but I think Kate has broken this contract. ;) At least Jon spelled his name correctly...do you think this is his copy or Kate 2.0's?

I'd like to see Kate's part, b/c I do not see written that they will not talk about their relationship (could still mean a business relationship) only that is says that. Why not show us the whole thing?

B/c it is a tease so that we will stay tuned.....;)

But Kate's kids were prob the only ones being filmed for the show. Your kids were prob not being taped for TV and you prob didn't have paps waiting out the door, that may or may not have been able to come in along with people taping, if someone wasn't diligent. Again, I will have to assume that she was there because of that. But hey, I don't care. If the gym didn't like it they should have said no taping. If it were my kids, I would do what I felt comfortable doing, and if they were being taped and I wanted to be there for whatever reason, I would be, or we would leave. I have no idea if she continues to be on the floor with the kids. She did appear to stay off to the side and not talk to the coach or kids.

Another person remarked that that might be why the other gym was stopped. I believe it was Mady who said she didn't like the other coach at all, and so she stopped going.

I did not see the show, so I will offer commentary based on our gym

Our gym has a waiting area with full viewing windows. If your kid is in any other class except for the mommy and me classes--that is where you hang.

One week each semester is picture day. During your child's class, you are permitted to enter the gym (no shoes) to take photos of your child doing their thing.

Children can also have private lessons and sometimes the coaches will bring the parent in the gym for whatever reason. (Usually with the younger children.)

Given where the entrance to our gym is, even if paps were hanging by our front door, there would be very little they could see at any given time and likely our gym owners would call the police and have them booted off of the property for trespassing.

I'm not understanding what Kate being physically on the gym floor would do to prevent papparazzi and it seems that the gym itself did not give due diligence for protecting its students.

Kate's kids aren't the only "famous" kids in the world who do activities.

Just my $.02 having not viewed the footage of this incident.

He could--but then what would be interesting is whether or not the contract is enforceable.

ETA: And if they were "romantically" involved, this could be construed as a contract for prostitution.

If this is all there is, it isn't a valid contract ie. saying she will get a "percentage" isn't specific enough to conclude that there is sufficient consideration on both sides.

I don't trust that Jon has put forth any good faith effort to FIND a job to know whether or not his infamy is preventing anyone from taking a look at him.

The man has a questionable work ethic to begin with from what I've read on hater sites....not sure if it is true or not. But this goes back to when he claimed to have lost his job just b/c his wife was pregnant or something silly and I believe that the company had a more legal basis for his termination. I apologize for no links as I'm not really up to digging up proof.

But if one has those issues, fame unlikely is the problem.

The employer's version was that Jon spent company time trying to find freebies for the impending sextuplets -- probably true. I've worked a lot of places where you could be fired for making a personal phone call if it wasn't an emergency.

The gym that Lisa Loves Pooh is talking about is pretty much like what we're used to -- once a year there is a Fun Meet where the parents are allowed to sit in chairs that are placed on the gym floor.

And yes, Kate was right in there interacting with the kids, because they were taping ie. SHE had to be on camera too. This wasn't about gymnastics -- it was about the show.

Kids will naturally put some focus on their moms, which is why moms are kept out. Gymnastics is much too dangerous if kids are distracted. And iff she was serious about them getting anything out of it, maybe the first class wouldn't have been part of the show. Sorry, no excuse for her behaviour is going to work for me on this one.

It's similar to my DD's ballet...we the parents (boy that sounds like the US constitution!) are allowed to view their class twice a year to see their progress. Once my mom (she's a tad pushy!) aksed my DD's ballet teacher if she could sit in and watch. The teacher of course said no, that it was VERY distracting to the kids if parents are allowed in and if she made an exception then she'd have to do it for all the parents who've aksed.

I wonder what would've been the outcome at the gymnastics place had they not been filming. I'm sure Kate would've just run to Starbucks and come back in time to pick them up!:rotfl: That's what I would've done!

Believe me, I'm making no excuse for her behavior, but just because I don't think it was so bad. No being there, not having any idea if she was there for the taping, or the paps, or whatver, I'm just not ready to judge her on this one. If the gym didn't want her there, when they agreed to the taping would have been a good time to work that out. Again..her kids, and if that's what made her comfortable, well, they are her kids. They could have said no, and she and the film crew could have left. Like I said earlier, this was their first time, and so maybe they needed to make the rules clearer, not when they have already accepted the taping. Without knowing for sure, that may have already been decided (that she could stay the first time) when the kids were signed up and the coach didn't know it. Very seldom, (actually I can't think of anytime, but maybe one of you can) unless in their house, are the kids taped without a parent. I would feel the same way if it was Jon, and he wanted to stay the first day with them while they taped.

The only way to know that, is if someone had said she stayed when the twins had gymnastics. Might have been the circumstances, since they were taping.

We could always watch our grands, but we were not near them..they had a sitting room, and we could see them through glass. That was one of the reason's we picked the place we took them.

The children are not just photographed by the paps when they are in Jon's care. Recently Kate took them to a park where their pictures were captured as well.

I don't think I did say that they only take photo's with Jon. I don't like either of them taking the kids where they will be photographed. However, I've never seen them be at home and blow on a whistle to get Kate away from the fence and back to them. At least once they were in the pool, Jon wasn't leaving them while he went to the fence. Or, maybe he did. No way to know..we only see what we see.

Failure to pay I guess.

Then he'll countersue.

2nd verse same as the first.

I think she's going to have a very difficult time enforcing a vague contract written on a cocktail napkin.

good lord. what a joke.

I mean, the guy's a buffoon.. no getting around that. but I'm beginning to think he's got a proverbial sign pasted to his forehead that says "take advantage of me ... I'm desperate"!

The twins were 3yo when they were in gymnastics before. Long before fame and paps.

Kate didn't appear to be off in the background somewhere watching. She was right by their sides during the balance beam segment. Since TLC does the editing, without knowing someone that was there as well, it's hard to know if she was talking to the kids or the coach and that footage was never shown.

By the same token, we only see what TLC wants us to see since they are the ones doing the editing.

Right now, they are clearly supporting Kate and against Jon so it's doubtful that we're seeing what actually went on behind the scenes.

I couldn't believe when they went out for their "ice cream supper" after the Ronald McDonald house and she put their bibs on??? Give me a break, they are how old???

I think they did mention on an earlier episode that the bibs finally got tossed (maybe when they turned 5 :confused3).

Since this is old footage--they would still be 4. So no worries that she is back to bibs.:lmao:

And for the record--my 7yo, though she isn't in a bib, it really would only be beneficial as for some reason she wears EVERYTHING she eats.:lmao:

I think the RM house epi was shot after their birthday, so they would have been 5.

I'm not sure I'm understanding this napkin contract thing. Why would Kate sue Jon, when she talked about their "relationship" when she said she wouldn't?

http://www.radaronline.com/exclusiv...-kate-major-retains-lawyer-sue-jon-gosselin-0

I'm glad it's not just me b/c I am not understanding the point either. I would like to read the whole napkin before I form an opinion. :)

So first she was mad b/c Jon left her devastated by dumping her after promising a life together on day 5 of their relationship, but it turns out she is mad b/c he hasn't paid her wages like he promised. good luck with that honey.

Ok, I'm recovering from H1N1, and haven't been here recently, but this Kate Major thing is the funniest thing in the Gosselin debacle so far.:lmao::lmao:

All this napkin contract says to me is that:

a) the vultures are circling, and
b) someone here is behaving even more stupidly than Jon Gosselin, if that is possible!

So, we were supposed to believe that Kate Major, the professional "journalist" quit her job with that hugely reputable magazine "Star" because she claimed to have fallen head over heels and into bed with an interview subject (a father of eight in the midst of an ugly divorce) and publicly stated that this constituted a conflict of interest. Eh, believing that was hard enough -- I don't quite get Jon's appeal, quite aside from the father of eight thing.

She now states that she quit her job because she had a handwritten contract offering to employ her as a PA (as opposed to latest member of the Jon Gosselin harem), and a verbal contract (not defined on the napkin) to match her salary if she refrained from commenting on their (business or social) "relationship."

Can Kate Major spell S.T.U.P.I.D? What person in their right mind would quit her job for a napkin agreement?

I'd hope that any lawsuit she files would be chucked out. The "napkin contract" could be forged, written and signed while drunk (and therefore invalid) or even perhaps (big stretch) valid and enforceable, but the question of who broke the "agreement" first is definitely moot. After all she started chattering about the "relationship" within days.

Heck, Jon Gosselin must be unbelievably sexier and infinitely more impressive and persuasive in person than I would ever have believed. Women with no judgement and fewer morals seem to fall over like nine-pins when he comes over the horizon. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
