Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

I wasn't trying to "bash" Jon for going to Hawaii. That's fine and great. I made a comment about trying to find a better place to eat than a bar every time he goes out. It's great that they allow kids and all but he doesn't set foot in the place unless they serve alcohol? It was just an observation and kind of a gripe....if he's trying to "clean up his image" this wasn't the place for him to be eating lunch or dinner or whatever. Just my .02. :upsidedow

Unless it is fast food, most establishments here serve alcohol.

Unless he has been alleged to be an alcoholic, he is of legal age to be drinking and it isn't outlawed to consume alcohol when one is a parent.

An important side note, they have showed both Jon AND Kate consuming alcohol in restaurants on the show.

I'm kind of the same way. I like to drink when I go out. I dont' keep a fully stocked bar in my home though. In fact, if a Box of wine shows up once every 6 months--that's good enough.

Drinking doesn't lend one self to a poor image. Being a drunk would though.

The one photo was a lucky shot of him with his eyes closed and not indicative of his state of mind or that he lacks the accountability to drink responsibly.

:wave2: A new thread!

Has Jon decided where he will spend Thanksgiving? He did say a while ago in an interview that he would be spending it with Hailey and her family....? :confused3

Well I am glad that J&K will spend Christmas with the kiddos. :goodvibes

OT--2 weeks unemployed and DH got a job offer today. Not exactly where I would like it to be (maryland!)

Evidently next step is negotiating the rate. (employer utilized a recruiting company, so that impacts his offer, but he's trying to wiggle a little in that to account for having to live in a location separate from us.)

Start date sometime soon--no idea when.

Woot!

I caught a discussion on some news channel, ie CNN and 2 people were talking about this and said there is too much strain yet between Jon and Kate and they didn't think it was a good idea because it just confuses the kids with false hope. But then they said, maybe it can be a start for those 2.

Congratulations! Hopefully it will all fall into place for the best! :goodvibes

I have no problem with people having a drink with a meal but we've read (or seen pictures) more than once with Jon out and appearing to have drank too much. I agree that the picture is one "bad" picture in probably a million "good" pictures. It just falls in line of the 20 something who lost his youth and is now spending too many nights out drinking and partying. So you eat at a place that serves alcohol - doesn't mean you need to order it. If you're trying to have a "good boy" image, I don't see how this helps or agreeing to pose with people for pictures. Just nicely say "I'm having lunch right now" or "no thank you".

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one I think. :flower3:

Ehh... to subscribe or not subscribe? I guess I just did. LOL. I can't decide if I'm completely J&K'd out yet or not.

Speaking of people driving hours to see reality TV stars houses, the Roloff Farm (from Little People Big World) always gets backed up during the pumpkin season because so many people come from all over to get a pumpkin and check the house out. The line is usually long enough there should be a fastpass system :) But I guess the difference is, people are actually invited onto the property.

One of my police friends gets sent out there frequently (and usually when I'm with him :confused3) during the season to aid in traffic control.

OT - but I love your ticker counting down until Black Friday. I made my list from the ads on line today! I have to pick DH up from the ferry at 9 on Friday so I'm thinking I'm going to have to shop on line for most until I get him off the boat and home with the kiddos....hopefully the stuff I'm looking for will all still be there. Thankfully, I only have to buy for my two kids - not eight! :goodvibes

I get that Jon can enjoy a drink..but am I mixed up, or was his dad that had a problem with alcohol and didn' tJon announce that and say that he wasn't going ot drink alcolhol again? Or did someone on this thread say that. It's pretty fuzzy for me. Of course that could have been ice water with lemon, for all we know. The pic was awful, but they prob took a few dozen to catch him with his eye's partially closed.

If that's the case, then I'm surprised that the theorists didn't come out about how he lied--b/c there are some scenes wear him and KAte had a date and definitely had wine.

But i'd have to go back and look whenever those episodes come up in reruns.

I had never heard that his dad was an alcoholic. I couldn't see Kate allowing her kids around him if that is the case and I thought that he was the "allowed' relative. But I could be mistaken.

When I was moving to the new thread, did anyone else hear the song,"This is the thread that never ends.. . it goes on and on my friends. .....":rotfl:

Some people...started posting not knowing what it was...and they'll continue posting forever just because...

I didn't mean he lied. I meant after he left Kate and was shown doing all the partying, I thought in one of the interviews he said his dad had a drinking problem (which I had never heard before, and knowing he was a dentist, I thought that must be tough..to not have your hands shake) and that he was no longer going to drink..this was way after they split.

But again, I don't know if that was actual, or what someone posted here.

As for which of the relatives were allowed, I just don't know if they weren't allowed, weren't show or didn't want to be a part of the show..no idea, other than what Jon said after the split.

Sorry i didn't mean to imply that you thought he was lying....:goodvibes

What I was saying is that if he had made such a promise, since he did indeed drink wine on the show, the hater sites would have been all over it.

But I hadn't seen anything, so I'm not certain if his dad was an alcoholic or not. Just that it would seem that he would have been condemned if he did say that, since he did indulge in wine--(I believe it was the Utah trip maybe when they went out on a date???)

hmmm ... I guess, if TLC brings it up, it's ok for Kate to talk about Jon? Even though she's not saying bad things (or whatever she's said about that?)

And of course TLC is going to bring it up, since Jon has countersued and all .. LOL

I guess I am not seeing the issue.

Jon was free to be interviewed for his own show and provided such opportunities. In the olden days--they were interviewed together and he was able to refute when it necessitated refuting something she said. She's commenting on how her kids were ignored by Jon based on what her children said. She could be making it up--but they do have video footage showing that it is true.

I just don't see how it is in the same ballpark as talking to the tabloids and I do mean that for any reality show. (It seems that Matt and Amy can have issues in each show and that isn't viewed as a problem that one is favored over the other when both are able to voice their views.)

The end though with Colin talking on the sofa--wow--I can't believe how articulate they are since we first saw them on tv. So cute. (Yes, I can gush--it's still on the air!) He did seem very excited to be in the interview.
