ITA with all of this...especially about the drycleaning
The question I always have in the back of my mind is what would they have done if, god forbid, one of them or one of the children became ill or had an accident and they could no longer do the show? Or what if the ratings had simply fallen to the point where it was no longer profitable for TLC to do the show because it lost its sponsors -- I'm quite sure that no TV network would guarantee to air a specific number of shows. Just saying, there are many reasons the show might have stopped, and why would they not be prepared for that?
exactly-and i'm willing to bet that no matter weather episodes were aired or not the contract reads that they would be paid a certain pre-set amount (lots of shows tank after an initial airing or two-does'nt mean the compensated participants don't get paid for what's already been done even if it just get's shelved).
they bought that house after lending practices tightened up-i can't believe that unless they had some well documented proof of CONTINUING income to make that mortgage payment along with their existing mortgage and other financial obligations any lender would have floated them the loan. i mean here's a woman who has'nt been employed in several years married to a man with at best a very spotty employment record. to listen to them during the early years of the show they were not in great financial shape and had to rely on the kindness of the public to support their children. i can't see any lender giving much credence to 'love offerings' as the basis for their income should the show end.
nope-there other sources of income there that neither seem to consider that the public realizes exits. do we believe they made nothing off either book? do we believe that kate is no longer getting her $25,000 speaking fees? do we believe jon will receive nothing for the appearance he makes? i don't think so.
if and when i ever see that they've had to let all the hired childcare providers go, kate no longer has her high dollar body guard, jon's not buying pricey gifts for the kids (and if you're so financialy strapped why do you buy a recreational vehical for a child that will cost you to insure????), they've sold off/returned the extra vehicals, at least one of the properties has been sold or re-po'd by the bank (or to save money they share it for their personal housing during their non custodial time), no more private trainers, tanning salons, spa visits-AND CERTAINLY NO thought to purchasig jewlery-then, i might see them as making at least a minor attempt at curbing their spending habits. i still would not perceive them as being in any manner of financial peril (not with at bare bones $75,000 for just those 3 days kate has lined up between now and next spring and not with 8 children still enrolled in private school-it might be the last thing you'de be trying to save in your budget, but when it comes down to clothing and feeding and housing your kids, there are thousands upon thousands of parents who have recently had to make this sacrifice in favor of meeting their CHILDREN'S basic needs).
