wow. just wow. What is she driving that holds all 8 kids? I keep hearing a $65,000 SUV, but don't know what it is with 8 seats in the back? Seats 10 I guess?

She was driving the van wasn't she? My guess would be that the van stays at the house and each parent has their own vehicle (Kate her SUV and I'm not sure what Jon has now as I read he'd traded in the fancy sports car he'd bought before) that they use when they're not with the kids.

Correct. She was driving the van that her and Jon share this morning at the bus stop with the kids. Looks like Kate and the other parents tried to make the bus stop a bit harder on the paps this morning.

Kate pulled very close to the bus to let the children out (previously she parked quite a ways away). The other parents also parked closer to the bus (sort of like a barricade) and at least one mother heckled the paps again.

That's true, but again, neither would many others. Few people are 'discovered' at a soda shop...I think that is a thing in the past. They usually have something that starts them out, some gimmick. K & J's gimmick, so to speak is have 8 surviving children at once, and procuring a show about the family. I also agree about Jon (I only included him for those that dislike the thought of Kate getting anywhere LOL), but I believe Kate will go further. Many talk show hosts don't really have much to offer...it's in the marketing. I happened to like Rachel Ray's cooking show, but I'm not sure, beyond Oprah liking her, why a cooking show qualified her for a talk show. Even Oprah's friend (Diane?) only got a show because she was Oprah's friend, not because she has (IMO) any talent.

Oprah's friend is Gail King. LOL. She was a TV anchor for years ... having Oprah as a friend absolutely, positively got her into the talk show market .. but she did have TV training, at least. LOL.

Rachel Ray was discovered in upstate NY, when she was doing a 30-minute meal class at a local grocery... a local station asked her to do a segment on the news and it went from there. I think her career as a talk show host was furthered by Oprah .. after her million different shows on The Food Network were successful.

If Kate can convince Oprah she's got talent, she might be onto something.

Huh? I have no idea what you are asking or saying, other than to pick apart what I said and that you are trying to make it into something it isn't. That said, please don't put words in my mouth. I happen to think (my opinion) the money belongs to them all, not just the kids, and they should have the right to spend some of it. I do hope (although I don't know either way) that the kids are getting whatever should be their share, and I have no idea what that share should be. Perhaps a percent after expenses are removed? Maybe they are, I have no idea. Anyone here know how much or little the kids might be getting? Anyone privy to the bank accounts?
When someone says these two are have the life spending the kids money, I wonder how anyone knows who's share of the money they are spending. Are they not entitiled to a share either? I happen to think they too are a part of this show and deserve compensation. Of that compensation that is theirs, I happen to think they can spend it like they wish, just like I do my own salary. You may not.

I notice you seem to comment on anything I say and disect it! If I say Kate is wearing pink, you claim its red. If I say Jon is a jerk, you say he's a saint. Then you claim you don't know and none of us do, but you assume. You are the first to complain if anyone bashes this family but its perfectly ok for you to say whatever??

From everything I have read it is because it is over priced (by nearly $100k). I have no clue if this is true or not...

I've read the same. The comps on other houses were lower than Jon & Kate's house.

And it's a crap market out there.

Maybe it's for protection? Or she's going to a party and serving a salad.

While it's not my business if you want to hit or threaten your kids with a spoon, I do wonder just how bad are these kids? So bad that you have to take your spanking object with you in the car? I guess I'm pretty lucky. I have never had the need. (I have 3 kids)

Should be some interesting reasons coming up to explain this.

Rachel I'm very familiar with, since we both come from the same area. When she was at the deli, which was close to where I worked, I saw and talked with her often, she was very popular behind the counter (and just a young kid). She was bubbly and fun, and often put together interesting deli combo's. Before she came to the deli, she actually had had some experience in NYC. While at the Deli in Styvesant Plaza, Albany, she was asked to do a cooking spot with Mr. Food (I don't think he was just local, but I don't remember), who is also from our area. From there, she went on to do her own segment on WRGB, and was sponsored by Price Chopper Super Market. I've been to several of her charity events, where we pay and she cooks and we eat and chat. She hasn't done those in a few years. There were very small and intimate and our group always had a great time. We were all proud in this area of our local gal, when the Food Channel picked her up. My DIL was thrilled that I had several of her books with personalized autographs. I gave them to her, because I never make the type of food Rachel offers in them.
Oprah seemed to like her and offered her her own show. That part I'm not so thrilled with. I find it boring. I think she'd be the first to admit she has no idea why she was given a talk show.
I love that she is now involved with helping shelters and rescue places through the sale of her pet food. Good for her!

You responded to me, and I responded back, because I have no idea what you were saying to me. I hardly think you have found me saying Jon was a saint, and I do know the difference in colors. If it's red, it's red. If I don't know the color, I'll be happy to say that. There is a big difference between an assumption and a fact. There have been very few times that I have stated something I said was a fact, unless I've known it to be.

I'm even older. I don't know who that is LOL! I did find I look terrible in the hat, I tried one on today.

Gayle King had a career in the TV industry (as said before) for decades. She was networking within her industry and scored big time as did Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz, Rosie the chef and Bob the trainer. Did someone compare her to Kate Gosselin? Kate is talentless. Her people are parading her through the talk show circuit and I don't think it helps her image. She looks and sounds like a robot. What industry is she in anyway? Who would she network with to move up the uh, ladder in her "career"? Honestly, what will become of her? Has she ever talked publically about anything other than herself? The only thing I could think of as she talked to Kelly Ripa is how hard Kelly and Mark Consuela(sp?) have worked to let their three kids lead a normal life. There is nothing to compare the Gosselins to, and I think that is why the public is so amazed. No reality show kids, adults, celeb kids, kids of celebs; nothing compares to the exposure these people have gotten from their show and the press. I think producing, directing, starring in, living off the profits of a show and books about yourself is a little too much "me."

Victoria Beckham is the former Posh Spice of the Spice Girls married to David Beckham the soccer star. It is her former haircut that Kate actually has. It is not the Kate-do as she loves to claim. Kate appears to immulate her style. The Beckhams have three sons who they keep out of the spotlight rather well. She is a major fashionista. They are British but (I think) living in LA at the time. They are major targets for paparazzi, but seem to handle it gracefully.

I agree WhitneyNC, Kate is talentless. I have heard her and Jon described as nobody's who became somebody's because they were on tv with their 8 kids. I have never heard of another multiple child family that could compare to there lifestyle. People think because they have 8 kids that they should get everything for free. Here is a family who lived off peoples donations and shopped at the Salvation Army to living in a million dollar house and go on countless vacations, besides house and kitchen makeovers.
There marriage was in trouble from October (according to reports) and yet Kate walked around doing her book signings and appearances like there was no problem. She will do whatever it takes to stay in the public eye. She doesn't care who gets hurt (kids) as long as she benefits in the end.
Jon is history to her--you can tell by the way the TLC filming is going that he is not long for the picture. The next big announcement will be when the divorce is final. Of course, this is all IMO.

I wasn't comparing her as much as saying most people have said that circumstances got her a talk show. Being the friend of Oprah.

She is gracious, but I do wonder if she is a bit overexposed. I like her best on the food channel.

Thanks. Spice girsl aren't anyone I've ever listened to (at least I think they were a singing group LOL) which explains why I have no idea who she is. Someone else actually had Kate's hairdo first? With the spike in the back? I"m seeing a lot of people still in this area with that do.

I'm thinking talent isn't so important anymore. If you can get people to watch you, I think the networks will forego talent. There are several people on talk shows that I just shake my head at and wonder why. Although some do get better, after they have been on for a bit, had some training, have people on I'm interested in. Some, I wish they would just go away LOL. I wonder if that is where they are trying to go with Kate, or maybe they are just trying to keep their names in the spotlight.
