I had J&K+8 on while I supervised the kids getting ready for bed. It was one of the ones from when they were all at the beach in NC last summer. I couldn't help but notice what a difference a year makes as far as Kate's choice of swimwear....last year it was a cute two piece, but very modest, a skirt and not much belly showing, big difference from the tiny little bikinis she wore this year!

They didn't keep the money. None of it. They gave it to the children's cancer group. The items were theirs, even if they were gifts. They sold them and donated all the money. They could have kept it. . I htought that was a nice thing that they did. It was a lot of work.

That they SOLD at the garage sale. I would certainly hope that if they were given something for free they wouldn't then sell it and keep the money. That would be tacky IMO.

Why not give the toys away to needy families and donate *in private* their own money?

Reminds me of a medical fundraiser that my girlfriend (through her brother) donated a NFL team football signed by all the players. It was suppose to be for an auction. Medical fundraiser happens and no football. Turns out a "family member" who was on the fundraiser committee decided he wanted t the football and felt donating $100 was enough to cover it.
My girlfriend was so angry along with other friends who were hoping that they would make over $1,000 on that prize.
I know at one of Kate's appearances in Michigan that a planner of the event wrote a letter to Kate stating how she felt about the event. She pointed out "graciouness, the lesson you left out". Apparently Kate was telling a story about how she wrote a check to a family in need only to open her mail box and find several gift cards sent to "her family in need" so it made up for the check she wrote.

I thought the story was that Kate sent a family in need a check and then later on, someone had sent her (Kate) giftcards. Her point was something like giving to those in need comes around, kind of like good karma I guess. Does anyone else remember that?

Are you saying that J&K kept the $ then? They said the proceeds went to Pediatric Cancer Research and raised almost $1200. I have a hard believing that they'd do something like that on camera and then keep the money.

I noticed that too. I guess she wanted to share what all the dieting and working out she has been doing did to her body. I wish I had done some dieting and working out before we leave for Disney (and free dining LOL) Wednesday. I'll be the person in the cover up..all the time.

I never posted anything about the Pediatric Cancer Research or the garage sale. I remember the episode but I don't know the details.
Concerning sending the check, Kate thought it was karma--the event planner didn't see it that way.

As far as Kate not having any talent, I always thought she was rather funny on J&K+8. I realize I'm in the minority here. I think she might do well on a talk show, she has witty things to say at times.

I cannot envision any scenario where Kate Gosselin would do well on a talk show. I just can't.

Yes, when the letter was first posted, we discussed it a lot. It's not an unusual thing to hear. We've been blessed like that ourselves. I don't expect it, doesn't happen everytime, but it's heart warming when it happens.

I do. It's part of the speech:

At Christmas Eve one year, Kate's sister tells her about a family who is in need of financial assistance. That Christmas, things were pretty tight for the Gosselins, but they were getting by. Some months pass, and Kate can't get the family out of her mind. She calls her sister to get the address of the family. God tells her a specific amount to write the check for, so she does. She runs (very quickly, because when you have six 2 year olds, you must do things quickly) to the mailbox to put the envelope in the mail and when she opens the box, there are gift cards amounting the same as what she sent the other family.

After that story .. she spoke about prayer, which gets me in the gray area of religion on the DIS, so I can't speak to that. I will say, though, that I was very interested in the part of the story that I posted ... but the comments that followed bothered me.

I guess we'll get a taste of it on the view! I wonder why they invited her to guest host. Do you think they saw something there..similar to what Elizabeth has LOL.

I have no idea. And as I said several pages ago .. we haven't seen Kate talk about anything other than the show, the children, the marriage, et al. In none of the interviews I've ever seen her do (and I certainly haven't seen them all) has Kate ever mentioned politics, current events, pop culture, etc. It will be very interesting to see how she handles that, especially on a live show.

Holy cow, I'm watching the show right now and Kate is shooting guns at the dude ranch! Hilarious! She asked the instructor/cowboy if he had any tabloids she could use as targets! This episode is very cute, the boys look darling in their outfits and Kate seems to really be enjoying herself.
