Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 6

my recollection of being picked up by the bus was it stopped and you got on and it drove off--parents don't normally hang at the bus stop.
Not even on the first day of school? That's when we met the other parents of the kids on the bus with our kids. We took kids to the bus, and and took pictures of them going up the steps of the bus, and then drove to school (beat the bus) and took pictures of them going into school, and then took first day of school pics with their new teacher. I have them right up through 6th grade. I guess I belong on the thread with the bad parents LOL. (of course then we went home and celebrated that the kids were finally back in school!)

I do not fault her for staying, waiting for the bus to leave but how embarrassing for Madie & Cara to have mom get on the bus. Those girls are already going to have to deal with a lot of "talk" now that they are back to school. They were very lucky that all this hit the fan after school was out
but now with school back in...they are going to be dealing with a lot...

When I had a child teased, I walked them right up on the bus, the first seat, looked at my child and said, have a wonderful day.....the kids also knew I was a police officer and not a crazy mother.

It made the kids think twice to bother the child again. I guess they thought I would not hesitate to get on the bus and address them if they escalated and continued the problem.
I would not, I would have the tape pulled and address it through the school. The taking of belongings STOPPED that day and the comments.

I eventually did start driving back and forth as the child got bus sick from the winding back roads on the new bus route on the way home.

We never had pictures taken getting on or off the bus. We normally walked to the corner and a group picked up the bus. We considered ourselves lucky when the bus driver would stop in front of our house to drop us off if it was pouring rain.
I'm very surprised the bus company is going to tolerate this "circus show" that I witnessed in that video. I feel very sorry for Cara & Mady as they really are victims in all of this.

Kate Gosselin: I Want the Kids!

"The custody battle is on: Kate Gosselin will use footage from Jon & Kate Plus 8 to prove she should get full custody of the children she shares with soon-to-be ex Jon, 32. A source says Kate, 34, planned to split custody 50/50, but she reconsidered when her kids called while an unapproved babysitter, Stephanie Santoro, was on duty on Aug. 13.

“She doesn’t feel comfortable allowing Jon to have custody when she can’t trust him to keep them safe,” the insider says. The source says the two oldest girls, Cara and Mady, both 8, may choose which parent’s house they call home. The insider says, “When Jon starts acting like an adult, she’ll reconsider.”"

bus in a parking lot-not unusual for private schools. ones around where we used to live purposely set up pick up/drop off in private parking lots. they only had 3 pickup/drop off places if you used bus service (one was at the local costco, over in the corner of the lot). the summer camp my kids go to uses the same practice.

mom getting on the bus. happens all the time here on my kid's public school bus (and it serves k-12th grades all on the same bus). parents don't schlep down the aisle, but when the bus rolls up it's not unusual for one of us to step up into the bus after all the other kids getting off have done so for our kids to hand us part of what they have to carry off (very common on the days instrumental music is taught esp. if your kid has a larger instrument case).

as for "junior k"-it's the parent's call but i think jon (or whoever is talking about the decision) needs to either tell people it's none of their buisness and issue no comments, get his story straight or get a better understanding of what they've chosen to do.

he sez it's because they are preemies. i hope he's not under the impression that their being preemies automaticaly puts them behind because not all preemies are by this age, and if they have been at one age they might not be at another. and just because some are, the others may not be-so don't for convenience sake or for one or a couple of the kids needs lable the others or put them at a disadvantage. the little ones were born in may, 7 weeks early so to my way of thinking even if absent any evidence or advice from a doctor that they are 7 weeks behind their same bday peers-that's still well within the age range for full bore kindergarten (lots of places a kid can be 4 and not turning 5 until december 1 when they are entering).

i know things are different school to school, region to region, but when i taught jr. k (or e-k as we called it) and it was offered at the private schools my kids have gone to, there were basicly 3 classifications of kids that were enrolled-

1. met the age criteria for k, but were'nt socialy or academicly ready

2. did'nt meet the age criteria for k but were socialy and academicaly ready (and most of these ended up skipping k all together)

3. parents did'nt want kids in k even though the kids were age/social/academicaly appropriate (and with some it was absolutly hands down a convenience factor for travel or childcare).

it ticked me off though when i had students who were obviously more appropriate for full bore k (and would have benefited from it immensely) repeatedly ask their parents why they "had to" be in jr. k, and why "can't" they go to "real k" being told outright lies by their parents about not being ready for k when in reality i knew for a fact their parents enrolled them for convenience or appearances sake (the appearances had to do with twins/triplets where one was'nt ready and parents put that one's self esteem needs over the other's academic/social, or in the case of an older sibling who had been held back and the parents did'nt want to bruise their self esteem by having them albiet in different classrooms, in the same grade together). for gosh sakes-don't set your kid up to believe that they have social or academic challenges that just don't exist. you're going to set them up to question their own capabilities and potentialy perform at much less than they are actualy capable.

Not just you, I was wondering this morning if Jon owns other shorts. :lmao: They are probably just his most comfortable pair, I have done that as well.

Well if Jon's gained/lost weight that might be all that fits and if Kate's controlling the money he can't run out and buy, buy, buy anymore. I've lost a bit of weight and really only have one pair of shorts that "fit" right now. I have two others that I can pull on and off without messing with the buttons/snaps that I wear so I'm not in the same thing every day. My problem? I'm just too cheap to go buy new shorts! :rotfl:

My point is Jon has done stupid things and I just don't see how Kate putting herself in magazines and news shows every week to keep bringing it up is BETTER than what Jon has done. Neither of them is bringing their kids peace or privacy. Oh and that little tidbit about how wonderful it would be if she met a real man with integrity so her boys would have a role model (slam!)

I don't think the kids have met Hailey yet and all the stuff about the babysitter is just rumors. Jon is an idiot, don't get me wrong. But Kate is no better and she proves it over and over.

I think her interviews are far tamer than the actions of Jon IMO. I think the only time it may not have been "good" is when she shared how all the kids reacted to the divorce with specific details - people are concerned about their kids - keep things very general for right now. I don't think it was meant as a "slam" to Jon but more to Hailey in the sense that if she were to date someone, it wouldn't be someone with her past.....

I think Jon's said himself that the twins at the least have met Hailey and one of them liked her clothes or something like that. I seem to remember a quote from Jon or Hailey about being the twin's fashion inspiration or sharing clothes or something crazy like that...

She looks really pretty in the People picture. Te really big smile in the photo actually reminds me of how she looked when she married Jon. She had that same happiness and softness that I see in that photo.

I thought the smile looked a bit fake to me. I'm sure that happens during a photo shoot but then I guess I'd pick another picture. I think some super casual jeans and t-shirt pictures would have been a fun way to go since the article talked about her going to get breakfast and stuff like that.

If Kate had gotten on the bus here she would have been arrested!!!! Parents are NOT allowed to get on the bus no matter who they are or how special they think they are.

That's crazy! I don't know that I'd be able to follow that rule. If my child needed help getting on or off the bus, I'd be there to help them regardless of the rules...

On one hand, it's good they get to ride the bus, b/c it's normal. On the other hand lots of bad stuff can happen on buses even when you're not on TV. I don't think I could do it. Kate has a bodyguard to go to Starbucks, it doesn't feel quite safe to me to send the girls off alone on a bus. At least not from the world they have created for the kids.

I totally agree - if security is so important, is a bus the safest place for them? I would think probably they'd get to school fine. I wonder what the school is doing on their end to ensure safety? I'm sure they've taken many steps.

If you listen closely you can hear Kate say let me take your picture...so that is the reason, I guess, that you got on the bus...I still stand by my comment that, at least my children, would be embarrassing.

I would have gotten on the bus to take pictures this morning had I thought of it (DS5's first time on the bus!). Now I'm bummed that I didn't think of it! :rotfl: I don't think it would be embarrassing for my kids as they're used to me taking their pictures. I'd also make it darn clear that if you want to ride that bus, I'll be taking your picture! :thumbsup2 It's all part of the deal.

Sounds so much like me! I took tons of pictures the first day and this morning was the first bus ride (I finally gave in!) and took more pictures this morning! I don't plan on stopping until they graduate from college. Then I'd probably follow them their first day at their new jobs! :rotfl2: We must have pictures of everything to scrapbook!

That's exactly what I thought. I would be willing to bet that that is the real reason

It is so common here to hold kids back from K that it would be odd for 5yos born in May to even start K. If they were mine they wouldn't be going either.

After watching the bus video I have to say that I think Kate enjoyed the attention. The other parents didn't look amused, but why would she park so far away and make the girls walk across the parking lot. Where was her security? The paparazzi didn't bother Jon?? The kids are going into 3rd grade and my recollection of being picked up by the bus was it stopped and you got on and it drove off--parents don't normally hang at the bus stop. If Kate is so worried about protecting her kids, why would she subject them to the cameras. Why not just drive them right to school.
Remember, they chose this life for the kids. Nobody is forcing them to display their life to the whole world. They can end it anytime. So you really think the other students on that bus don't know what's happening at the Gosselin's house!!! You don't think Mady & Cara are questioned by other students??

I wonder why you think she enjoyed the attention? I thought she looked ticked that the paps showed up.

I think she probably parked across the parking lot so far away from the bus for a reason. I think if she had pulled up closer to the bus it would have caused more havoc and then someone would ask, "Why Kate park so close to the bus? She knew what would happened with all those people, cameras, etc. Why didn't she allow some breathing room and park further away?"

Did the paps bother or question Jon? I'm not sure whether they did or not. We saw one video and one "reporter's" questioning and rudeness following her through the parking lot. I would not doubt there were more there who may have questioned and bothered Jon.

I think jon has always worn the same kind of khaki looking cargo shorts. I bet he owns a few pair and just wears them all the time. It really doesn't bother me as long as he keeps the belly covered up.

The smile was very big. I'm sure they were talking to her and said something that caused her to smile that big. I doubt think it was a "say chesse" type photo. During a photo session they talk a lot to you and are just taking a bunch of pics.
Was the smile too big to be a good photograph? Sure it was. However, it is still a nice picture and as pretty as Kate is, I'm sure they had a lot of choices to pick from. Why they chose that one, I don't know. But it is definitely not a bad photo or anything. JMHO

Jon & Kate Plus 8' patriarch Jon Gosselin received stitches after a mishap at his Pennsylvania home, Usmagazine.com reports.

"He hit his head opening a kitchen cabinet door in the dark. But he's OK now," his rep tells Us.

The wound was just above his left eyebrow.

Gosselin and his wife Kate -- who are currently in the middle of a divorce -- split time at their large home in Pennsylvania, where their eight children live permanently.

He opened a kitchen cabinet door and whacked himself so hard that it required stitches? :confused3

Probably more like he fell while intoxicated.

With as little hair as Jon has, I think it is believable. Maybe he had the door open above him and raised up, forgetting the door was open. As a hairdresser, I've seen a lot of thinning haired people have gashes of all kinds from this type thing.

I find it sad that they reported it though. What's next? Kate got a paper cut? Geez...

Probably more like he fell while intoxicated.

How in the world do these paps even notice this stuff? They really had to zoom in to even see it. He could have been bent over the counter when one of the children opened a cabinet and banged him or something.

I also didn't see any tense moments (Radaronline's words) between Jon and Kate at the bus stop this morning. When the bus pulls away and they both walk to their vehicles, she goes over and knocks on his window and asks a question then confirms that he will be gone. No fireworks.

That looks more like what happens when someone passes out while praying to the porcelin God...

Jon Gosselin's desire to leave Jon & Kate Plus 8 apparently isn't that strong after all.

Gosselin is denying Us Weekly's recent report that he told the magazine he doesn't want to do the TLC reality show anymore during an interview outside of his family's Wernersville, PA home on Monday.

"I never said that," Gosselin told People in an interview outside his family's home on Wednesday.

"A fan asked me, 'Don't you sometimes wish you could go back to a 9-to-5 job?' [And my reply was,] 'Yeah, because this is 24/7 and 9-to-5ers punch in and punch out and you have no responsibilities.'"

In addition, Gosselin pointed to the paparazzi gathered outside the house and told People "you have to watch what you say so it doesn't contradict something else."

Gosselin's clarification came after Us Weekly's report quoted him reiterating his previous comments that filming new episodes of the TLC reality series is a job he'd like to quit.

"I wish I had a 9 to 5 job instead of the nightmare I'm living. This is 24/7," Gosselin told Us in the Monday interview. "I don't even want to do taping for the show anymore... I have two houses and eight children to take care of and I need to work."

Gosselin told People the Us report was the result of someone having "overheard something that was nothing."

Although he corrected the context for his most recent comments, it wasn't the first time Gosselin has addressed a desire to leave the show.

Even before Kate filed for a no-fault divorce in June, Gosselin had expressed uncertainty about continuing to appear in the TLC reality series that made him a household name.

During Jon & Kate Plus 8's fourth-season finale which aired in March, he openly speculated about whether or not he wanted to continue with the show for future seasons.

"Maybe we'll be back, maybe we won't," he said during the finale.

"It's hard being on this side of the camera... and trying to live your life, and people see your life as episodes, and you see it as a date on the calendar. It's tough. I can't be 'Jon.' I have to be 'Jon & Kate Plus 8,' which is a real hard thing for me and I still haven't come to grips with it."

However Jon & Kate Plus 8 was subsequently renewed by TLC for a fifth season, which premiered in May. Gosselin referred to Jon & Kate Plus 8 as a "business" when discussing the show during the debut broadcast -- in which he and Kate also announced their separation.

"This is a different kind of career because this is your life and your career. In no other place does that exist," he said during the premiere. "We originally did the show to document our kids lives and I mean it's become a business just like anything else."

With his personal life increasingly becoming tabloid and media fodder following the divorce filing, Gosselin again suggested that he doesn't feel any particular loyalty to Jon & Kate Plus 8 in an interview with In Touch Weekly earlier this month.

"I'll do the show until something better comes up," he said.

"But I don't want it to end because that is my job. That's my financial means -- we have a lot of stuff to pay for, like education. I'm sure there are things that are more financially beneficial. If I leave the show, then I leave the show -- that's how it is."

While it was previously reported that Gosselin was in talks to appear in a new tentatively-titled Divorced Dad's Club reality series, a rep for the show's Endemol production company subsequently denied it since he is "under contract with TLC."

What he is trying to say is, "Please put the cameras/filming away and just give me lots of money." He's clearly talking in circles. I'm dizzy now. :upsidedow

And guess what? It is a business--everything is a business. My love of cutting hair turned into my business. Churches are businesses. It is just life for things to evolve. You don't go from snapping pics of your life/courtship like J&K8 did (they seemed to have documented everything for a long, long time--even before filming) to doing a show for many seasons to it not being "a business". Maybe since he is waking up to the concept he'll have a better grasp of it.

I totally buy the 'hit my head on a cabinet'. As someone who's hubby has a lack of hair on the top, he's done some nice head banging of his own. Never needed stitches, but it's been close. The kitchen is new, so maybe he misjudged the amount of space. OMG, did I just stick up for Jon??
