Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 5

Love the match.com video. I tend to take up for Kate and my DH says she is just terrible. However, after watching this season, my husband has shifted to the Kate-camp. He says Jon is just has snippy if you really listen, he just isn't as loud about it.

I think Jon has became the worst kind of celebrity...he wants to enjoy the motorcycles, $250 sweatshirts and starbucks coffees and then whine about the loss of privacy and limitations. Plus, to me he has had the worst kind of affair. Typical for someone as passive-aggressive as he is...it seems he had an affair in order to end his marriage. Just man-up! Also, I think he may see it as an opportunity to part-time parent.

Just wanted to pop in an dthank you guys for keeping the postings down. I'm in the woods in VT and the wi fi connection is slow. Plus I need to spends most of the time with my fmaily and friends (they are all off golfing right now), so I can't sneak too many peaks LOL.\
Have a safe and wonderful 4th of July. God Bless the USA!

When did Jon become the SAHD?

I think it was the end of last summer. About the time the sextuplets started afternoon preschool and they hired the non-nanny, "part time", Vietnamese family helper. Jenny traveled with them to the beach last summer, so she was still around then. It was decided by (?) that Kate would continue book touring and speaking engagements while Jon stayed home. I am not sure of the timeline. You can probably see (somewhere) where their speaking engagements turned from Jon and Kate to just Kate.

Yes, this was it -- he talks about that in the videos I posted, and I haven't seen anything to contradict them.

Actually, except for recently, he was complaining about his family's lack of privacy ie people not on the show, who've all had to change their phone numbers etc. I don't think this was an unreasonable complaint -- why should a fan be calling his brother, or anybody else with the same last name?

And from what I understand, he plans to be a full-time parent, just part of each week.

Yes...I meant the whining has begun recently. But then again so has the new clothes, two earrings, new car, trip to Utah alone.

He mentioned getting a job in one of the recent episodes. The one where he said he is only 32. That still leaves him 3 and sometimes 4 days a week that he has no responsiblity to anyone but himself. I can't say that it is part of what motivates him but given his choices lately it seems possible.

ITA--J&K have put themselves out there but their friends and family have not. The media should be respectful of that.

Kate said in People that Jon and her discussed spending July 4th together with the kids. I hope they can come together and give the children an awesome holiday. :thumbsup2

Happy 4th to all of you too, stay safe!

Cool. Passing through to the Smokies or past us to FL?

I was up in your neck of the woods last Labor Day weekend for the Ford Ironman Louisville!!

passing through to the Smokies ... we thought about going down to Gatlinburg tonight for the parade, but when we saw people setting up their chairs at 9am (for a midnight parade ) we changed our minds. LOL ...

Way off topic, but I figured, what the heck.
How long did it take you to get to the National Park.
I haven't been there in 15 years, and when me and my dd were heading to Savannah GA last Labor Day, I thought it would be a good idea to go through the National Park. It took us 2 hours to get down the road from Knoxville to Gatlinburg. We gave up and turned left through Gatlinburg and didn't go into the park, with how slow traffic was going, we figured it would take another 4 hours. I cannot believe how over grown the towns are with tourist stops. You can't even see Dollywood from the road anymore.

honestly, I don't know how long it took us ... yesterday, the traffic wasn't terrible, so traffic was moving well. there are a couple of bypass roads, now, we took one today and it made a huge difference getting from Gatlinburg to Sevierville, where our condo is. The traffic going in to Gatlinburg was a nightmare this evening. It was backed WAY up. I was so happy not to be sitting in that line!

I would of loved to have known about the by-pass roads.
Oh well, should have known better than try to go to such a tourist area, on Labor Day weekend.

The thread sure calmed down, this thing was averaging 15 pages a day.

Y'all need to go through Knoxville, to Maryville and then through Townsend to get to the Park. So much easier!!! From Townsend to Cades Cove is not far at all (20 mins?) From townsend to the Park is just minutes.

Madge, have fun. Gatlinburg is crazy for those parades. I'm probably 1 hour away and haven't been the G-burg in years now. I do visit the outlets in PF 1 or 2 times a year.

Actually, I go to WDW more than I visit there!

we went to Cades Cove via Wears Valley Rd today ... and then went back to the condo through Gatlinburg. OMG. I haven't been that car sick in ages.

on the upside, we had the best time today! I cannot believe how awesome the weather has been this weekend!!!

Shopping tomorrow. :cool1:

we used to make a trip to the Smokies once a year or so. It's an easy drive for a long weekend... but this is the first time in 3 or 4 years that we've been and I'm supposed to come back in September. go figure. LOL.

We are going to be going to the Smokies in August. Bill's parents own a vacation home on Bluff Mountain. I can't wait to go to some of the outlet stores and I will be picking up some stuff at the Disney store :thumbsup2.

Bonine! ;)

Wears Valley is very winding in places. It is how I go to PF most of the time though. To ride to the Cove (did you see any bear?) and then through the park to G-Burg after Wear's Valley, no wonder you felt car sick!! Honestly, the road to G-Burg from the "Y" has always gotten to me. Not sure why, but it tends to.

Have a wonderful visit and good luck tomorrow at the outlets etc.

mrsksomeday, you also have a great trip when you come to the Smokies soon!

Madge, that's soo ironic. My family and I had booked a hotel and were planning on going to gatlinburg for the 4th weekend. But dh couldn't get off monday so we decided to stay at home. We were planning on going to the midnight parade. Boy am I glad we stayed home. Dh hates traffic, especially when he's not familiar with the area.

I had to read this 3 times to figure out what it said. :lmao: I think I need to go to bed, because I thought it said Bonnie. LOLOL.

that was the worst. the worst. I really thought I was going to need a pitstop. blech. we really did pace ourselves, so it wasn't like we were in the car for hours and hours. we didn't intend to go to Cades Cove via Wears Valley, it just sort of happened... we went to Kroger's and traffic was so bad at that shopping center, we didn't have much choice but to turn right. I knew that was the road to Townsend, but forgot how curvy it is. Once we got to Caves Cove, we spent a few hours at the pinic area. That was so much fun. The place was packed because of the holiday, and it was neat to see so many families with July 4 decorations. And the drive through Cades Cove itself is so slow, it didn't bother me that much.

we didn't see any bears this trip.
