Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 4

I hated the way Kate yelled at Jon about the dogs, especially in front of the OCC guys. She was screaming that if he didn't put the dogs up he was going to be in trouble.

My dh said right away, "I hope they get busted" she is riding illegally."
Why was she riding illegally? :confused3 Sorry but PA does NOT have a helmet law. We live in NJ and DH wears his helmet because its the law. The minute he hits PA he pulls over and takes it off. I don't agree with him but he's a grown man and not hen-pecked. :rolleyes1

And sorry but most people hold on to the person in front of them. DH wants a new bike without a back rest. I told him that I was afraid to fall off and he said "You hold on to me. That's what you're supposed to do." Just curious as to what you think that did Kate do wrong? And I'm not taking sides, just curious.

Sorry, but I couldn't keep quiet.
We are huge OC fans.
Last nites show on the OC was pretty much scripted. They just didn't drive up, their truck/trailer was in the background when they drove in and Jon and Kate were sitting in chairs. Anyway, that is not what I wanted to comment about.

Usually the OCC guys wear helmets when they ride-most times. But last nite was unreal.

Paul Sr. and Paul Jr. and Jon decided to take a ride and Paul Sr. gave Kate a ride. They laid a towel down on the fender and Sr. took pegs off another bike and put them on his bike for Kates feet. Kate kept yelling how she would slip off and land on her butt. But she agreed to this. Me and my dh couldn't believe it. She wore no helmet, she did go get pants on after Sr. told her she could ride with a skirt and she still kept high heeled shoes on. If Sr. would have hit a bump, she would of been catapuled off the back of that bike. The only way she could hold on was by holding onto Paul Sr. I thought they would just go down the driveway and back, but they went out onto the road. My dh said right away, "I hope they get busted" she is riding illegally."

Yes, she was riding illegally since there was no seat for her, but in PA it is your choice to wear a hemet or not. Not sure about NY, but maybe you have to there and that's why they always wear a helmet on the show (OCC).

Ooohh, me too! And instead of being passive aggressive Jon really just needed to turn around and say "I'm your husband NOT your child. Don't speak to me like that." I have no respect for Kate when she speaks like that to him and no respect for him when he allows it. :sad2:

I didn't watch it yet..she sat on the fender? Ouch! That must have been bumpy and hurt. So it's against the law and OCC went ahead and put her there? Shame on them!

yes, they put a towel on the fender for her to sit on. I live near them and the road they live on is very rural and quite bumpy, so it had to be a bit uncomfortable for sure. I'm hoping that they just edited it to look like they really went on a ride, but am hoping it was down the road and back!

I've decided to stop watching the Gosselins. I don't agree with how they treat each other, how they treat their kids, and how they continually lie to the public. I also can't stand the shows that area all.about.Kate.

I'll check this thread, but probably won't have much to contribute anymore. It's been nice discussing it with all of you though. :)

On the OCC episode, what really cracked me up was when Paul Sr said to Jon, "If you're gonna work with us, you're gonna have to be more manly!"
Then Jon said in a little whiny, crybaby way, "I am manly".:rotfl:

Ohh, I didn't actually watch the episode either. I thought someone thought it was illegal because she wasn't wearing a helmet. Ouch!!

:rotfl::rotfl: I can't wait to sit down and watch the whole episode now.

wow, and my husband would kill me if I talked to him in public like Kate does to Jon.. The same things you accuse Jon of like the poor me attitude, Kate does just as well. We have to watch our money, I am so tired, I cook and clean. What a line of bull this lady puts out. I just can't believe that some people don't see that.

As far as I am concerned they BOTH deserve each other. And as far as Kate doing much better, I can't think of one man that I know that would put up with her crap, and I have asked because most of my friends watch the show and the men can't stand her.

Well as I have said before I tend to have a personalty much like Kate, so I guess my DH of 12 years puts up with my crap!:lmao:I guess we agree to disagree! My husband is a rough and tough type: hunter, fireman, outdoorsy type, who is very manly and seems to handle me and my attitude. I not saying everything is Jon's fault. IMHO he needs to man up quit whining and get a job if he doesn't want to stay home.

What I find even more unbelievable is that they were not on the news everyday or followed by the paparazzi till Jon was caught @ 1 am with a younger girl. So who's fault is it he hates his life and feels trapped? He just seems so docile! If your life sucks do something about it! At least Kate does something.:thumbsup2

I am a HUGE OCC fan. Watch the show all the time. I would like to know who paid for Kate & Jon's bikes? Custom made bikes by the OCC are big bucks. I am so guessing TLC paid for the bikes and Jon's stay at the hotel next to OCC.

What is disappointing to my family is when OCC episodes stray from building bikes like LAST night. All this with Mikey playing with the kiddos/picnics in the backyard and what was with Jon on some bulldozer clearing the woods etc etc....keep that for J&K+8 episodes.

And I have lived in many different states...many states do NOT have a helmet law BUT I witnessed a horrific bike accident many years ago in CT and had the young man had on a helmet........:sad2: So whether or not your state requires a helmet I would hope riders would always wear one. :thumbsup2

I think everyone is nuts if they don't wear helmets. That said, in PA, I don't believe that is the law. When the OCC are in NY, they have to wear helmets (and they do) but not in PA. I've seen the OCC people, when they have delivered before, to other areas not wear helmets.
What do you mean that Kate would be busted, she is riding illegally..do you mean for not wearing a helmet?

I think some posters answered why she could be busted.

She was riding illegally on the bike. If a motocycle is not equipped for 2 people, (seat wise) it is illegal. Putting a towel down and leg pegs was pushing it, but it was still illegal. Sorry about being upset with this, it just really baffled us. She was clearly sitting on the fender of the bike. An example-would you put a towel on the deck lid of a car and think that was a place to sit? You would bounce right off.

Sorry, I only saw bits and pieces of the show and didn't see this scene. I thought you were upset that she wasn't wearing a helmet, which is stupid in my opinion but not illegal in PA. Hasn't realized she was sitting on a fender. That's just stupid. :sad2:

I loved the part when Jon said he was gonna stay at the OCC shop, "switch shows. since I don't do anything." I think they should have painted Kate's scooter like the black widow instead of pink.

I too thought you meant for not wearing a helmet. We have had Harley's most of our married life (except for the time I had a Honda), and while I would never ride on a fender, I didn't know it was against the law to do so.
I did find the PA and NY laws about this. Shame of OCC, as they should know the rules of the road. I wonder if Jon has a mototcycle license (we need one in NY)

PA
3522. Riding on motorcycles.
(a) Use of the seat by operator and passenger - A person operating a motorcycle shall ride only upon the permanent and regular seat attached to the motorcycle, and the operator shall not carry any other person nor shall any other person ride on a motorcycle unless the motorcycle is designed to carry more than one person, in which event a passenger may ride upon the permanent and regular seat if designed for two persons, or upon another seat firmly attached to the motorcycle at the rear or side of the operator. In no event shall a passenger sit in front of the operator of the motorcycle.

NY:
§1251. Riding on motorcycles.

(a) A person operating a motorcycle shall ride only upon the permanent and regular seat attached thereto, and such operator shall not carry any other person nor shall any other person ride on a motorcycle unless such motorcycle is designed to carry more than one person, in which event a passenger may ride upon the permanent and regular seat if designed for two persons, or upon another seat firmly attached to the motorcycle at the rear or side of the operator.

I think there are a lot of men out there who take it as Jon did. Jon got a little braver imho when he found a GF. Anyway, some men take it because they are wimpy, some men are just very patient, and some men probably had overbearing moms and don't think as much of it.

Yet, when Kate and Jon appeared on their show and this became topic for The Soup or SNL or lots of spoofs on Youtube or even played over and over for Youtube, I think that's when it really became a problem for Jon.

I think people probably started commenting and he probably read what people were saying, got email from viewers etc. that made him see how people were viewing him for being "henpecked" or just spoken to like she does. I think his manliness came into question and that probably got him to thinking and one thing led to another til he found someone else who did not treat him like Kate.

I loved the part when Jon said he was gonna stay at the OCC shop, "switch shows. since I don't do anything."

I was thinking he and Mikey made a great pair. :thumbsup2:lmao:

I thought Jon seemed more relaxed in the episode, as did Kate. And they were both laughing about the situation. Jon referncing that he only has female friends, and when Kate was at the spa with Mikey he asked for a copy of US Weekly.

if you don't follow the media attention, you would have no idea what they're talking about.

I wonder how many people will check out the Us Weekly that Kate thought was so funny, as a result of the comment and her reaction.

Discovery/TLC commissioned the bike (per the OCC guy on Larry King Live), so I assume that they paid for it. Hotel was part of the show .. paid for by TLC, as well.

The OCC has there own webpage and a place to send fan mail.
I just e-mailed a fan letter and stated our family watches their show, but we were dismayed that Paul Sr. gave a ride to Kate on his bike, without a proper seat. I also stated how much we liked the show, (we actually did), we though Paul Jr. and Mikey interacted with the whole family really well. Sure the OCC is usually about building the bike from scratch to finish, but it still was a good show.
