So many people from my area! I used to have a KI season pass growing up. Ah. The memories! And UDF shakes and malts are the BEST! I've never been big on chili though. I do love the Gold Star hot dogs with cheese. But I love Montgomery Inn and always eat there when I'm "home."

You would get along with my girls...they will eat the chili when I make it at home, but when we go to Cincinnati to visit they want to go to Gold Star to get Hot dogs with cheese!! :rotfl:

I've never been to Montgomery Inn, but my sister loves it.

Ok, what the heck are "UDF" shakes??:confused3

A shake from the United Dairy Farmers Convenience store....seriously...they are freaking awesome and you can only get them in the area around Cincinnati....

Back to J&K...my company all went home so now I can watch all the shows I missed without interrupting comments from my guests!! ;)

a friend of mine moved from here (central Kentucky) to Cincinnati and she called about a day after they got settled and asked me the same thing. She was SO confused because UDF is a gas station/convenience store.

but it has delicious ice cream treats .. :cool1:

Thanks ladies, I was SO curious as to what that meant. Speaking of shakes, my 9 year old DD made me a "special" shake about a month ago. Let's just say it was pure love that I managed to choke it down! I'm still afraid to ask what she put in it but I'm sure there was garlic and vanilla extract.:scared1: I kid you not! :goodvibes

ratings continue to drop ...

From Us Magazine:
Ratings for TLC’s Jon and Kate Plus 8 continue to fall off, but still remain very good for cable.
Around 4.3 million viewers tuned into Monday’s 100th episode, as celeb chef Emeril Lagasse showed the struggling couple how to prepare a meal for their eight children. (”This was a special episode because this was our 100th episode,” Jon said. “It’s pretty amazing.”)
The June 1 episode attracted 5.5 million total in its first half-four.
The season 5 premiere on Memorial Day remains a record for the network, with its 9.8 million total viewers.

The episode before the season 4 finale had 2.6 million viewers, which was a steady decline from the several shows prior.

I was hired to at King's Island in the summer of 1987, but decided not to keep it .. pouring beer at a theme park was not my idea of a good time. :rotfl:

LOL! It wasn't that bad! (Festhaus-summer 1989) But that ice skating music! I still switch radio stations if I hear the theme to Top Gun.

Too funny! My parents moved to Ohio in the middle of my sophomore year of college. They lived 2 minutes from KI, so I worked there just the one summer.

My husband and kids and I moved to Northern Kentucky about 10 years ago. Of course, my parents had moved from Ohio by then. :headache:

On topic comment: The kids playing cooking was too cute!

some one must explain to me why these children are still wearing bibs. they are almost 5 years old when this episode was filmed, and yet, they're wearing the bibs and sitting in the high chairs.

Even though they're not eating anything remotely messy for lunch ... (or terribly substantial? a piece of turkey, breadstick, and strawberries?) It could be that they're playing with their food, and the turkey slices might stain their clothes?

Kate's attitude in the kitchen .. the banter? eh. it's all for show. I don't think it's quite as bad as some of the reviews I've read. I just see that it's all for show. it isn't a surprise.

I missed the very beginning .. was all this food organic?

PS. nice shot of Kate checking her iphone at the end of the episode.

PPS. 100 shows in 2 years? hmmmm.... they must be good at what they do to make a show happen, since they don't film that much ..

PPPS. the kids were super cute. :)

kate is always away with the six and jon stays at home with the twins is because kate get a lot more attention when she is with the six.. she is never just with the twins..

Finally. All these ridiculous speculations and scenarios and way too much attention paid to tiny snippets of life (No shoes! OMG! Helmets? OMG! Ice Cream at WDW for little kids? OMG!), not to mention just kookiness from the same papers that tell us about Oprah and Gayle's lesbian relationship and Saddam Hussein's love child.... this article makes some kinda sense.

Merci, Madge.

seriously??? STILL???? You know how I feel about the stupid bibs and high chairs...

:rotfl: I know, I know .. and I'll admit, the high chair irritation is petty. It is.

But the bibs are downright ridiculous. Especially with the lunch they were eating. A slice of turkey, a breadstick, and a couple of strawberries. The strawberries have stain potential .. but, worthy of a bib? A bib on a child with good table manners (in spite of the playing at the table shown in the episode?) .. it's just unnecessary, IMO.

Regarding the lower ratings, I wouldn't be surprised if some more compromising pictures surface of either Jon or Kate, just something to get people talking and watching.:surfweb:

I just watched the 100th episode last night. I thought jon and kate seemed okay with each other, they did not look split up to me in that episode.

As far as the bibs, kate has said in previous episodes how she feels about stains, so I would think they are wearing them because kate hates cleaning stains and she can't stand to just let her kids wear stained clothes. She talked about this at length in older episodes.

I dunno, I seemed to have a bib on mine almost that long. It just saved the clothes, that's all.
I think they do not consider those chairs ''high chairs". They are the wooden restuarant type, right. they cut the bars off at some point and just use them as *chairs*.

I haven't watched the Emeril episode closely--caught the late showing that night but found myself close to sleep. I'll probably watch tonight. Maybe I didn't notice traditional high chairs...
Maybe they have not bought their regular chairs yet for this table? Beats me. But I'm sure with 6 of the same age you do what makes life easier in the moment.
