I clicked madge's link to the Enquirer and then clicked again to read about kate's rage/temper.
Interesting...it says because of her explosive temper she could lose custody to Jon. So many thoughts, too bad of a typist...it is just amazing what those tabloids will say though...

I think there is some truth to the therapy ... I don't agree with the idea that they do it as part of the show, though. I wish I could find the link, but I ran across an article (pretty sure it was a tabloid) that lays out how the season is going to go, more or less. TLC will begin to make Jon look worse, increasingly unhappy, and have him move out. (there are reports TLC has been looking for a camera-friendly apartment) They'll do therapy, and by the end of the season, hope to have the viewers believe they're working toward a resolution and Jon will move back in. Of course, it's a load of crap .. but Jon and Kate/TLC see the $$ that's at stake.

Now, is this true? I have no idea. I can't even find the link to the story at the moment. LOLOL ... BUT. I do think it's certainly a scenario that you could put on paper and think it makes sense, from a production standpoint.

We'll see....

I think it is probably more of a personal thing than a regional thing (the Mr. Mrs. sir ma'am thing.)

My DD says yes, sir but no one else we know here says it. I just never hear it. My niece and nephew live in SC and do not say it either.

Some people like to be called Mrs. so and so and some don't. I usually abide by their wishes. Mostly because I would not be happy being called "Mrs. A___." She's my MIL. ;)

I did not notice this, but my DD 8 pointed this out to me. Just how many sandels/flip flops do the little girls and tups own? My DD mentioned that it seems they have ones to match all their outfits. Looking at the pics of Kate and Mandy/Hannah just reminded me of this comment.

That's so weird....my sister lives Goshen now and I never hear anyone use Sir/ma'am out there either. Her husband is from the area around Eastgate mall and he wasn't taught it either, but I know some of Clermont County is pretty rural and I guess some people there would teach their kids that.

Good grief .. I know RIGHT where you're talking about! How funny!

So many summers spent at Kings Island, back in the day ... and every time we go home for a visit, we have to eat Larosa's, Skyline, and get a milkshake at UDF. Only then does it feel like we've been home!

And I can see where Blue Ash would be someplace that might be into the manners thing .. it's a little more upscale (is that the word I want?) than some other parts of the tri-state area.

I was waiting for that! I couldn't believe why you didn't comment on the no bike helmets on the kids! :rotfl: They were riding the bikes with the helmets hanging off the handle bars...but not on their heads! Didn't wee see pictures of that recently (can't recall if that was the beginning of this thread or end of last thread) when we discussed the importance of wearing helmets? I was thinking about that last night when I was trying to place when the episode was taped. :goodvibes
no. I didn't watch. I cannot believe that they're so boneheaded about the helmet thing. :sad2:

Helllooooo .. Jon and Kate's people ... TLC ... you could do an entire episode on BIKE SAFETY!!!!! It's the LEARNING CHANNEL, for crying out loud, you could learn about safety!!!

they have shoes to match all their gymboree outfits and crocs, because they're both sponsor/product placers on the show.

Cute Break! How incredibly cute was it when Aaden and Colin had the little stuffed animals and were telling the camera men not to look and shut their eyes and Aaden kept checking to make sure their eyes were closed and the camera was going the whole time! :rotfl: I love Aaden. :lovestruc

We laughed and laughed at that part!! The part where Jon was tickling Joel with a green bean was precious too.

I enjoyed the episode and didn't notice any snide remarks between Jon and Kate. :confused3

this one is my fave:
http://justjared.buzznet.com/galler...elin-hair&pic=kate-gosselin-hides-hair-08.jpg

from the neck down, she looks great .. but OMG. The hat. The HAT. who thought that was a good choice?

and yes, I'd be asking that about anyone wearing that hat. it's not a Kate-specific question. ;)

 That is some hat alright! She does look fabulous but the hat is distracting. It reminds me of celebs walking through the airport hoping nobody would notice them because they're wearing a hat! She does look pretty darn good for 8 kids, although I'm thinking I could clean up pretty well too with a tummy tuck after 3 kids myself!

My mom and I were talking about this today and she said that we called some people by their first name and some people by Mr./Mrs. Last name, it just depended on what they preferred. The lady next door was Mary, but the people across the street were Mr. and Mrs. Campbell. I never heard of the Mr./Miss first name until I went in the Air Force. I personally would prefer Mrs. Vanwinkle over Miss Michelle anyday. I actually worked at a daycare and my kids were 3 and they were supposed to cal me Miss Michelle, but they had a heck of a time with that. It usually came out Miss Shell... :goodvibes

Omg...UDF shakes are my FAVORITE!! You can get low fat shakes that taste just as yummy as the fattening ones.

I worked at King's Island in 86 and 87!! I love love love Skyline and miss it like mad...

Now, along with the Blue Ash and manners...I always associated the sir/ma'am with more of a rural upbringing....people from the city don't seem to use it as much as from the country.

Ok,I am going to put my flame suit on big time, am I the only one that doesn't think these kids are cute? Not looks wise, I would never go there. But there are so many of them I can't keep who is who straight and they all seem to whine all the time. Maybe it is because my kids are older and i have less tolerance for small children, I don't know. They just aren't that endearing to me at all. I am not one of those people that is dying to hold someone elses baby either so it is probably just me but I thought I would throw it out there that they just don't melt my heart like they do other peoples. I do feel HORRIBLE for the kids, don't get me wrong. It is sad to see any family in turmoil but with all the tabloids that are out there, gossip and tv shows like twisted fate (all of which I am getting sucked into)that has to be hard on at least the older kids.

I was hired to at King's Island in the summer of 1987, but decided not to keep it .. pouring beer at a theme park was not my idea of a good time. :rotfl:

That's funny...we could have worked together!! It was really a fun place to work. I worked in the Sausage Haus which was the first place on the left as you walked in. It turned into a Skyline Chili after it was the Sausage Haus and I worked there too....yum yum... :goodvibes

I agree. I am a New York girl, born and bred, and I wouldn't dream of having my kids call an adult by his or her first name.

So many people from my area! I used to have a KI season pass growing up. Ah. The memories! And UDF shakes and malts are the BEST! I've never been big on chili though. I do love the Gold Star hot dogs with cheese. But I love Montgomery Inn and always eat there when I'm "home."

I agree that the sir/ma'am and such is probably more personal preference. We are definitely not from the rural part of Goshen, but I did attend a private Christian school. It was quite a conservative circle. My parents were big on respecting our elders and speaking to adults as such. All of my friends spoke that way. My husband, who is from a completely different area of the country, was raised the same way. And we do try to teach our children to do the same. :)

The only time we addressed an adult by their first name was when the adult told us to do so. And it's funny--even now I call those who are my parents' age Mr/Mrs. lol
