If Jon only gets at allowance of $5/day, how did he save up enough money to buy (and/or lease) that white car?

He used to be allowed $5.00 a day before she had the babies. That is what I got from that. But to me they are about to have 8 kids so he should be on some kind of budget. It was not like $5.00 a month or something silly.

I think her new job is working on her personality and being softer to everyone so she looks like a victim. That is going to be a lot of work for her. She should get paid the big bucks for that acting gig.

I actually think Kate wasn't acting. How would you feel if the man you loved cheated on you and your marriage was ending.

I guess that is hard for me to say. If my husband was cheating on me, I just can not imagine going on tv and talking about it. I know that is their job and all but if I was so devestated by it I just don't think I would want the whole world to see me like that. If I was devestated by this I would stop everything and figure out what went wrong and focus only on my kids. I know people say that she needs to worry about how to support her kids and I agree, but to talk about her marriage falling apart on tv just does not sit well with me. I do believe she was hurt though, i will give you that.

I do think there is one thing we can agree on. There is something going on in this marriage that is causing it to end or come close to ending. I think everyone can agree that Jon and Kate are hurting. Which there kids can tell and feel

I agree that everyone wants their 15 minutes, I don't think they realize that they are only going to get 1 minute.

I know that when times are tough for us and we need to watch our pennies, I make my husband go on a budget. I put both of us on one and we both get a certain amount between paychecks and he takes his lunch to work some days. I don't see anything wrong with that.

I don't know. Madge, does she say in the talks that she can't pay her bills? I haven't heard that in a long time. Are you saying, because they have money, they should go and do the speaking at no charge? I assume the churches all know there will be a love offering and it's announced. In the wake of what's happened, that will prob be moot anyway. No matter who caused the scandal, most churches won't be interested in having her, IMO.

As for the bodyguard (and it appears there are two now, since I keep seeing the other man), if I read the internet with so many people filled with hate (because they are successful..is that why? I just can't imagine hating someone so much), I sure would have a bodyguard or two. I think it's a good use of her money.

Should they not spend what they have earned on a really nice home, with lots of land and a pool for the kids? I would. Boy, if she spends the money on something the kids can enjoy, it's bad, if we don't see proof that she is spending money on something the kids can enjoy it's bad. She can't win no matter what she does, so what difference does it make what she does with her and her familiy's money? If I had it, I'd love to have that house, which I'm sure gives more privacy than most other houses.

Yes, I can agree on that. I just could not imagine growing up and seeing my parents air their dirty laundry on tv for the world to see. I grew up in a small christian school and I hated whenever anyone would find out anything about us because the gossip mill would churn like crazy, I can not imagine what these kids are going through. How embarrassed will they be when they are teenagers and they do see this stuff on both parents.

If that was when he worked at that job, then that was before the tups were born, and Kate was on bedrest and not working. I happen to think $25 ($35 if she gave him money on the weekend) a week is fine. Gosh, I don't think my hubby spends that much now on items we don't talk about buying, let alone when we were a young struggling family LOL.

Interesting articles! I have to say I usually want my husband to bring his lunch (and I only have 2 kids) so I don't think $5.00 a day is bad. When I was not a stay at home mom I also brought my lunch daily to save money. If I had 8 children, there would be no $5.00 a day allowance!

No, I'm not saying they shouldn't charge. I'm saying they shouldn't lie or tell a story full of "untruths" as Kate would say.

They can spend their money however they wish, but don't go around selling your sob story and looking for handouts when you have money to buy a million dollar home, a pool, designer clothes and shoes. Tell it like it is then say "But look at us now! We are doing great...." She ends the talk of them struggling and Jon being unemployed. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Actually, that house doesn't give them that much privacy if you think about it. If the Paparazzi are able to get shots of them in the driveway and yard, then is it really that private?

when Kate referenced their financial problems in the speech I saw, it was pretty much in the past tense... but that's one part of the speech she couldn't keep the same as she did in the earliest speeches when they probably were still struggling. the one point that's in the past but she made a point of speaking very sternly about was when Jon was fired from his job (s) and how that's legal in Pennsylvania. It was like she edited the one part, but not the other.

there was no love offering at the speaking engagement I attended. It's my understanding that Kate was paid in the 4-figure range, not the $20,000 or whatever it's reported to be now.
