I think they will announce a separation (that may include Jon moving out), like we didn't know they were already separated and then that they are going to counseling to try to work things out. I hope they don't plan to televise the sessions but they do want to increase ratings. I bet (hope) less of the kids will be seen.

Hi! I agree with this. They'll probably announce that they're "going" to separate, as if it was something new. Maybe even say that Jon is staying over the garage. I highly doubt they'll announce a divorce right away. I think they know they can string this thing out for more "ratings" & money. Hey, even if the ratings are down by 30%, it's still the most popular show on TLC & I'm sure earning everybody but those kids a pretty penny. And even if she's been "dealing with this for 6 months" I don't see Kate as ready to cash out now.

Well, he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed is he? I really think he wanted to get caught whether it was conscious or sub-conscious. Who knows.

We've had this discussion here..they have been inching down except for the vow renewel, the last show and the first show and possibly a few other shows that I didn't look at the ratings for. People had already lost interest, many saying because the show had gotten boring. IMO, and what I have read on several boards, people are not suddenly leaving in droves because they think that it's bad for the kids. They have been leaving right along. The show has changed, and not because of the hoopla, but because the kids are getting older. <snip> The kids were why many of us watched, and they have been much more in the background.

I agree. When I started watching the show and following the blogs, there was already the question of when would the weekly show turn into a yearly update. I think that (generalized) people honestly thought that was the way it would go. Even fans were asking how many trips & outings the Gosselins could take, or how much they could do shows at home and still keep it interesting. I can remember people wondering why the Duggars would go to a weekly show when they'd been successful with a special or two a year.

IMO, outside of Jon & Kate's marital problems, I think that TLC did to Jon & Kate Plus 8 (the show) what it did to Trading Spaces. They took something that was gaining popularity and they absolutely saturated the market... too much too fast. They revamped TS, replaced Paige Davis, etc. and the show was never the same. I wonder if the announcement will be along those lines, a change in the show format, Jon is leaving, etc. and if that is what TLC has planned .. will it work?

Hopefully someone outside the underground will read these remarks. I'm off to google grassy knoll, because I have NO idea what that means. LOL.

Private PM's are not at all a plot or subterfuge, I would really rather it not be made more of than it is (geesh, just like anything Kate does, does everything have to have a sinister way of it?). It's just some of us, who felt more comfortable talking via pm, and skipping all the he said, she said the rag mags have been putting out when we discuss some parts of the show, and some of the opinions, that some felt were harsh (again, personal). Some didn't care to constantly hear everything Kate did, turn into a horrible mommy type thing, and a few people got their feelings hurt, so rather than go back and forth on the board, we took it private. I know we aren't the only one's posting privately about this issue .

Off once more with these kittens to Pet Smart. Still have 2 orange and white ones. I have 4 new little tiger ones coming tomorrow I have to get adopted. Adoptions are way down with the economy. Hey folks, it's been a rotten kitten season (way too many, you wouldn't know we spay and neuter about a 100 a week). If you are thinking of adopting acat or kitten, please do it now. Our shelters are overloaded with all these kittens, and some of the adults are going to have to be sacrificed (not by our rescue group, but our local shelters), our fosters are taking in as many of the shelter cats as we can, to make room).

I just saw the commercial for monday. TLC showed the kids getting their crooked houses and then they went into a "change" and made a big deal out of it being a hour episode. So I figured they do 30 minutes with the houses and 30 minutes of recap, big announcement and kate throwing Jon under the bus (again).

Ok this is just me letting my fingers do the thinking but...It seemed to me like no matter what Kate was going to do the show and well lets face it everyone doing the show knows the state of J&K's marriage so I was wondering if TLC hadn't come to Kate and tell her that as long as she wants to do the show and gets x amount in the ratings that there will always be a show for her with or without Jon. But since latly Kate isn't coming off as a warm fuzzy person that TLC is rethinking that? So then maybe J&K are going away, for a while and next year come back either with Kate as a single parent or back together or better yet not at all. As I said just a thought.

Okay, I watched the new promo for the hour show on Monday.

Frankly, if they DON'T announce that the show or the marriage is ending, they're (they being TLC and J/K) are simply despicable. How low must you go if you're going to tease that there is a major family upheaval about to go down, and then have an hour show about new playhouses or a big new vacation? That's just garbage.

And no, I don't WANT them to get divorced. I don't care. I just think it's twisted to hint that you are just for ratings. What's next? Pretending someone has only months to live? Hinting that the kids were switched at birth with a few Duggars? God, this is getting crazy.

I'm trying to remember back to thread 1 of Jon and Kate here on the Disboards. I know I could look it up if I really wanted to, but I'm just thinking out loud here.What did we discuss with such regularity back then? Did we talk about how cute the kids were and
how Kate could be so awful to Jon, gosh darn her? Who ever thought it would come to this? I did eventually think that the show would come to a screeching halt, but I never predicted all of the rag mag covers and Jon getting caught with a girlfriend.
It just makes me terribly sad.

Way back when the show first began I was a Kate supporter, and I would defend her to my sister, who couldn't stand her. I now see my sister's side of things and I hate it when she's right!

If this is true, what a desperate attempt on the part of TLC to pull their viewers back in.. If there weren't 8 little children involved, I would find their grasping at straws hilarious..

Honestly, I just think it's so sad. Don't they realize if they just step away from the cameras/show, things could settle down and they could work on their lives.

Sure, there would still be paparazzi following them around for awhile, but I really think it would all fade. The paparazzi doesn't follow the Duggers around, they're too boring, lol.

Does anyone else want the big announcement to be "Our marriage is in serious trouble and we owe it to ourselves and our kids to make every effort to repair it"?

I know she gets the bad rap most of the time, but IMO he is the one who doesn't care anymore and she is doing what needs to be done.

Maybe they did unofficially separate several months ago - shortly before the pics of him with the teacher came out. With his current dress, car, etc. he just seems immature, like he's rebelling against being the dad. That's sad, too.

If they do announce they are getting divorced will you watch? The show is already not the same will it just be Kate and the kids? I wonder who will watch that? I would think she would pull the plug on the show at this point.
