I thought last night's show was sad. I'm not a huge fan of Kate, but I felt sorry for her. Yes, maybe it was all an act, if so, it worked on me. I thought Jon was pretty hostile and very immature. I've always thought that about Jon though. Yes, Kate pushes him around, but at the same time he seems the type that needs lots of direction. For all Jon's whining, you sure don't see him turning down any of the perks. Does he think he'd be able to have a sportscar, a motorcycle and a condo in Salt Lake without the show? I don't believe for a second that Jon really wants to go to work everyday, I think what he really wants is to stay home without the responsibility of maintaining it and watching the kids. He thinks of himself as a cool party guy and he wants that lifestyle WITH all the extras he gets from the show.

Does Kate have some serious issues? Yep, she she sure does, but she is not as reckless as Jon. Jon is mad because he got caught and is being forced to take the heat.

I have to agree with the bolded part of the above post.
I've always watched the show and thought, "Wow! She is such a NAG! Poor Jon! How does he put up with her?" I've always felt somewhat sorry for him.
But I have a really hard time sympathizing with him now. I can understand being frustrated with the way things are. I can understand feeling like you need a break. I can even understand wanting to re-evaluate your marriage and your life. But what I can't understand is making the choices he's made. I don't understand his irrational and immature actions, or the fact that he obviously completely "checked out". I can't see a person making the choices he's made while still keeping his kids in mind.
Why did he let it get to that? Why didn't he speak up and just say that he needed a time-out? That he needed to regroup and get his priorities straight? I have a really hard time sympathizing with a man who would do the things that he's done, and then say that he needs "a weekend off". ??? What's that?!?!?! And I thought it was especially immature of him to skip out on the planning of his kids' birthday party.

Now I certainly don't think that Kate is perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I've always thought she was a controlling witch. (But now I wonder if the family would have held it together for as long as it has without her "controlling" personality. ?) And I do have an issue with someone in her situation choosing to do another season of the show even though she very obviously has many "real life" issues that need to be dealt with. I think it was a greedy and irresponsible decision, and the way I see it, she made it by herself. Jon was clear on the fact that he was done. he was no longer interested in the show and wanted to go back to work.

So I see fault in both of them. I think they're both imperfect. But I don't know anyone who's perfect. They're both human. I do have to feel just a little bit of symapthy for Kate who, despite the things she's done, did not deserve to be cheated on. Jon should have dealt with his issues like a grown-up instead of acting out like a teenager.

He definitely didn't look like the same old Jon sitting next Kate. I might not say HIGH, but definitely........sedated. Oh, all right. All right. He LOOKED like he was on something. Hey, there are some morning where I look rough, too. But, in this episode, he LOOKED hung-over, or seriously medicated. ((& I wouldn't care if someone told me i LOOK like that on some mornings. Hey, he DID. Definitely didn't look.. "normal."

I thought he looked really sad and depressed, not high or drunk.

Give me a break Jodi's sister! The kids are not servants. In all honesty, I think the kids like having the crew around, that is why they are always running up to the camera's smiling. This is not the way I would raise my family, but the kids don't seem bothered by the camera's. If the parents were getting along, this would not be an issue.

there have been many people observing the amount of work the Gosselin children do, in relation to child labor laws. this was going on before there was ever a hint of dischord between Jon and Kate.

I totally agree with you. The first thing I said to my DH was that Jon looked high. He did. Something was not right with him. High, hung over, sedated, something.

That's true, too. Kate did, too. They both look like they'd been beaten to death by emotions! If it was an act, or not.. I bought it, so.. we'll see what happens, I guess.

I agree. I think that last night Kate and Jon both had an agenda. They had things that they wanted to say about the marriage and their life at the moment. It seemed both of them had been coached by someone IMHO.

I'm waiting for Dr. Phil to jump on the bandwagon. He could have them on the show and offer them counseling (if they accept it) for the entire family. Seriously, I hope TLC is getting some kind of help for this family!!!

I think he looked sick. Maybe he got the cold or flu from cold weather. It was cold when the kids had their party.

There is something else I would like to point out. As far as the paparazzi go, it seemed there were none, until Jon was spotted hanging out in a bar with young women. So, if he now feels like he is in a fishbowl, it's no ones fault but his own. What, I guess he resents not being able to cheat on his wife in private? Too bad for him.

I just wanted to clarify for the poster who responded to the post about this episode just being taped within the last 2 weeks and the response was claiming that was incorrect and was taped in March....This episode WAS just taped within the last 2 weeks!!!!
You can do a search on tmz.com or perezhilton.com or x17online.com and find the paparazzi pics taken on the day Kate took the kids to Target and to Party City, and pics of the party itself, taken from those photographers from afar at the party. It was very recent, not in March.

I thought I was pretty clear in my answer to that question, which was .. do they always film so close to the air date? and the answer to that is no. they were filming episodes for season 5 in March... before some of the season 4 shows even aired.

It seems to me that they enjoy it also. They run up to it and smile and they have the camera crew to talk to when mommy and daddy are out on the town.

it doesn't matter what I think counts .. I'm just saying I know that there are groups of people out there following the amount of time these children are filmed, and how it relates to child labor laws.

I never said it was okay for any of those families. This thread is about J&K.

I also don't watch any of those shows so I wouldn't feel the need to find a thread on them.

That is what I thought. Jon looked exhausted. Kate looked angry and upset. Given the situation on both of them what do you expect?

I am not a Kate or Jon basher, I equally like & dislike both of them.
But she made it seem like it was so exhausting planning a party. Really how many moms or dads plan a party by themselves without help from the other parent? She was really irritating with I am doing this all alone. Seriously, how can you feel bad for her? There are many single parents who do it alone. Then there are many married parents who do it alone.
Jon didn't look like he wanted to be at the party.
If Jon did cheat, we honestly don't know. There are just accusations and pictures. He needs to man up and take responsibility for his actions.
Maybe he already has, since Kate kept saying that Jon has made some poor choices.
They both need to step away and think about their kids. After all they kept saying that they are there for their kids.
