I don't have the article in front of me -- they don't come out and say that TLC covered the tummy tuck. Anyone who watches the show can cry foul on that, since many of us remember the specific episode about the surgery.

The teeth whitening is a little different, though. Jon & Kate filmed the one show about it .. but we don't know (as much as we know anything) that TLC is covering it now. I'm not whether I think they do or they don't. Things like tanning and teeth whitening fall under the heading of stuff an individual pays for, but who knows? Those could be things Kate stipulated in her contract.

We'll never really know for sure.

So what help did TLC give?

I saw the AOL headline last night, but didn't feel like reading the story. LOL.

They may have staged the whole thing with the "fan" loving Kate and getting her DH to do the tummy tuck. Orrrr....the possibility exists that TLC reimbursed the doctor in exchange for filming.

I'm wondering if TLC will be issuing a statement soon, or if they'll continue to reap the benefits of this mess through next week .. or both.

If I was going to be on TV all the time, I'd be getting tanned and my teeth whitened! And if I could, I'd get someone else to pay for it! Maybe I'm greedy, maybe she's greedy, but pasty white skin + being on film don't go well together.

Anything that is shown is paid for by the show. So, if they showed the name of the dentist, it was paid for by the show. At least if they have a good contract that is how it would work. I have a friend who is a talent agent in LA, so I asked him how it worked. He said that anything you see on a TV show that shows the label has agreed to the product placement. They give it for free in return they get free publicity.

If you notice, some products that they used are blurred out. I know I saw some Cascadian Farms cereal on the counter once (we eat the same cereal) and the label was blurred.

"Hate" is a very strong word.. Do you really think people "hate" her - or do you think people don't approve of how this whole thing has gone down?

Just because people don't approve of some of the things that she (and Jon) have done, doesn't mean that they "hate" them and would actually try to physically harm them.. Personally, if I were in Kate's shoes and felt there was any kind of "danger" involved, the body guards would be for the kids - not me..

Not necessarily. If you watch older episodes you see him in them, we just didn't know who he was. He was sitting behind them on the Utah trip I know for sure. Some other eagle eyed people saw him in NC. And yet another person saw him on the episode with the cutting room floor footage of them on the beach when they went to Florida/Disney World.

I bet when they say "action" he moves to the side.

OK, the posters who said she looked unhappy in her other pictures and that it was so "telling" (so sick of this term, by the way), look what happens when she smiles. Darned if they do, darned if they don't.

Harp on her because she doesn't smile when leaving the "grocery store" aka tanning salon. Harp on her because she does smile when leaving Target.

I wasn't harping on her for smiling I just think she enjoys the attention

I was saying that she is doing those speaking engagements, but she isn't truthful about what she is telling them. She makes it seem like she was/is doing all alone with a little help from Jon. Getting up each morning "just like every other sahm" to get the kids ready.

exactly.

she also claims to have written Multiple Blessings, when the reality is that there are 3 people listed as co-authors of that book. It's been widely reported that Beth wrote the book, and Jon & kate lived the life.

There are potential inconsistencies with what Kate says and what actually happened when Jon lost his job as well... there was an article a few months back that had an interview with one of his former bosses, and the former bosses' story and Jon & Kate's version don't add up.

maybe when this episode airs, there won't be any trace of him, then. I'd just think in light of recent events, they'd have him as far from the spotlight as possible.

So, either way there's a possibility that she needs a bodyguard.

And whoever said a bodyguard has to be some big hulk of a guy, that's not the case. In fact, I know of a woman bodyguard (former military) who looks quite unassuming but could break your neck in under two seconds.
