I don't know if it was mentioned on this thread but Kate gave an interview to People about the whole thing. The impression I got was that she basically wants fame and he didn't/doesn't. Not that that gives you an excuse to cheat (if he did) but the article was very narcissistic. She talks about how she is doing all this for her kids but if you read the article it gives off a very different vibe. She is doing all of this for herself and nobody else no matter what she tries to convince people.

No, while there is a chance of multiples with IUI (as with most treatments), there's no way to know what will take. It's like stimulated "mingling." With IVF, eggs are actually taken out, fertilized and implanted. You choose how many eggs will be implanted, but that doesn't mean each egg will take.

Thank you, that is what I thought. I guess that is why they thought they were trying for one.

I hate to appear stupid, but I have in the past, so what the heck. If she had IUI, do you get any choice in the amount that will take..how many kids you will have? I guess if not, that would explain the we wanted one and got an extra 5.
We've got a little of everything in our family, from adoption to IVF, to IUI, to a little help from just drugs, and they are all welcome additions.
I marvel at what can be done nowadays for those who need a little help.

I believe with IUI, they ultrasound you to see how many follicles are ripe. They then advise if you should go ahead with the introduction of the sperm that month. If there are too many follicles then they recommend you wait until the next month for a lower number to reduce the possibitlity of higher order multiples.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, I don't have much background for fertility treatments.

I'm almost 100% sure that Kate had IUI (no eggs are implanted).

She did have IUI with NO eggs implanted. However, she suffered from hyper-stimulated ovaries and was hospitalized and it's been suggested at different times that she knew that by having sex while her body was over producing eggs and the odds of having multiples was highly risky. She has never addressed questions about this (that I know of) but has confirmed the hospitalization, overstimulated ovaries and the conception of the babies while this was all going on. IMO, she probably should have waited a cycle before trying to conceive to have a greater chance of avoiding too many multiples, but that time has passed and they ended up with 6 healthy babies.

That was my understanding as well. I was under the impression that doctors are very weary of multiple births because of the risks involved.

When we returned, we switched doctors and tried again in October. That cycle was perfect! Everything went great! I was told I had 3 with a possibility of 4 follicles, and that was a great cycle! The only thing that made our doctor nervous was the fact that we were absolutely opposed to reduction and that we were concerned about multiples again. We prayed about this and just like our peace about returning in October for this cycle, we felt peace about proceeding. So we did!

Five weeks later, (after my hospitalization for over stimulated ovaries) we were at our initial ultrasound and learned the news. I will never forget this day as long as I live.There were seven sacs

Is Reading near her home? I see she has a bunch of paper towels, I assume she didn't buy them for herself. Maybe she's out shopping for her family. Maybe she is home now. Although if she is, and she went out shopping instead of staying at home, she's prob in trouble for that too. You know, her kids and Jon could be right next to her, but that wouldn't make for an interestng picture LOL.

I'm not sure what link you're looking at but the one on TMZ has just Jon with all 6 of the tups walking to the car and Kate is apparently not with them.

I saw that one, obviosly taken with a high zoom lens, judging from the graininess. Then I clicked on one of the other sites shown and there she was shopping. They could all be at the same place, but the picture wouldn't be as interesting as making it sound like they all went in different directions. Or Jon could be picking up the kids from school, since I thought I saw a back pack. Who knows. I think they are reaching for innuendo's.

Yes - I saw that one - and if you click on the link on that page, there is another one of Kate alone - with a shopping cart with paper towels and something else underneath - possibly a large package of napkins?

I still don't see the significance of either one.. Jon has been shown with the children without Kate before (long before all of the latest happenings) - and Kate has been shown in various places alone - without the children before..

What makes that newsworthy? What am I missing?

with the idea of donations in mind, it's not unusual to see donation pages on websites like the Gosselins. I was only commenting to the posted who said she never saw them asking for stuff, because they most certainly did.
