But it does appear that he hurt his hand and I'm assuming either Mady got those braces off quick or this was before them. Looking at the photos though, her teeth didn't look that bad!
The lack of braces could also be that they Photoshopped them off.

And WHY would they do that...seems kinda silly. Did she get TOP braces? When I first got my braces I only got them on the bottom. You couldn't seem them unless I showed you.

Mady's braces were on the top in the most recent episodes, I think. (I am NOT sure about that at all, though)

It is likely that they shot the cover before the braces were put on. Didn't they do the GH cover in August, for the November issue (released in October? LOL) It's quite possible they shot this in January. With that said, Colin wasn't wearing a cast/bandage in any of the recent episodes, filmed through the middle/end of February.

They might do that because it could cause a distraction. They might photoshop the braces as not to be a permanent reminder for her. She might have been embarassed.

I don't see why they would photoshop the braces. It would be average expensive for a very common thing that many younger children have today. Plus, it would seem strange that they would photoshop braces and not other things as well, like the cast.

They probably shot it before she had 'em. It does seem pretty pointless to photoshop braces that all JK8 viewers know she has/had. I highly doubt they're worried about embarassment on a LHJ cover that won't be remembered by many. How many of her peers are reading that magazine?

That's why I think too. I don't even know the time frame that she got the braces. I was really confused last season because it seemed like they skipped around a lot. That is one thing I hate about Little People, Big World, they skip around way too much!

the only things I'm pretty sure about on the timeline of things were the filming of the latest episodes in season 4 - the trip the SS Live, Harlem Globetrotters, etc. Those dates were confirmed back on the other thread .. all late January to mid-February. And Colin wasn't wearing a bandage/cast in those shows, and he is on the LHJ cover.

AOL has this article on the homepage today:

Hi Ladies,

There's a bunch of re-runs of J&K on right now including the Globetrotters episode. :goodvibes

Okay I just read the article from parentdish. 1. Kate's smile is too forced and weird. 2. In the article is says that Kate does most the talking. 3. Kate says she won't go back to the way it was before the show? (imo she has lost her mind) 4. Kate goes on to say that the show is their family job so they can stay home together. (she's hardly at home these days). The article just backed up my opinion that Kate has let the show, fame and the wealth go to her head.

Okay let the attacks start.pirate:

Ok ladies...sorry it's a long one! I spent my day cleaning and grocery shopping (what I should be finishing now....) for family coming into town tomorrow...

I actually got my feelings hurt today as I felt my words were twisted. Maybe others believe that I twisted Kate's words. Unfortunately, I'm not a celebrity and don't get paid money for my opinion so I'm going to step away from this thread.

I am so sorry - if it was something I did or said, I just wanted to apologize :goodvibes

:scared1: What the heck? That's my comment on the disboard link at the top! Guess what Totalsnowwhite, we're celebs now! Woo-hoo!

BTW, last time I checked my real name isn't 3 pretty princesses!:lmao::lmao:

Wow you guys are so lucky! :goodvibes

Are you sure that's not your *real* name???? I'd love to go to the bank with you when you opened your checking account and asked for that to be on the checks! :rotfl:

Kate sure isn't doing much of that stuff. I don't think she's home long enough for any of that day to day drudgery. Maybe Jon is ..

An interesting sociological experiment when all these kids are old enough to google themselves. I wonder what they'll think, and how the parents will spin it.

I agree with both comments....

I imagine there is some sort of contractual obligation in addition to the paycheck factor.

If you were in this situation, where you had ten mouths to feed, eight sets of school supplies, field trip fees, lunches to pack daily, etc. don't you think you'd try to get the most money possible for the least amount of (outside) work? I know it sounds a little cynical, but how many people say "I'm gonna go work my butt off for minimum wage today!" It's human nature to want more for less. Or to put a lovey-dovey spin on it, they're getting paid to do what they would do normally (hang out with the kids, clean the house, go to the store, etc., etc.) plus some pretty fabulous bonuses. It's not like they're subjecting themselves to the scrutiny for an extra $5 an hour or something.

I'm in agreeance that I think there are contracts involved and that has a big part in what they're doing....

As for trying to support their family, I agree that every family is out there trying to do just that. I'd just like to see the Gosselins (and other "famous" people in general) out there doing more to "give back". Yes I know some do that and it's great....there are just so many great organizations and people in need of real help while there are people out there raking it in left and right. I guess that's just my frustration with "famous" people in general. I also don't see J&K at home cooking, cleaning, heading to the grocery store, whatever....but that's just me.

In case anyone was wondering what my name means...

I'm half Polynesian and half Native, so obviously not white. Well, I wanted to be Snow White for a school performance (because I had black hair, too!) and some loudmouth kid said I couldn't be Snow White 'cause I'm brown. :snooty: One of my friends said I was "totally Snow White." I don't know why I dropped the -ly. :confused3 Oh...and Snow White is my fave!!

I *love* that story - how sweet is that! I bet you were/are an awesome Snow White!

I also just wanted to thank all of you for letting me into your little group - I've learned a lot about J&K as well as meeting some great people! It means a lot to have a place I can come and share my thoughts and feelings and discuss them without being totally ripped apart. :grouphug:

Ok I should get off to cleaning the house....I keep wondering if it's worth it with two little boys in my house. :rotfl: The family leaves MI tonight and are driving straight through to be here tomorrow morning (about 14 hours! :scared1:). Tomorrow we're shopping and hitting the beach, Saturday we're hitting the Easter egg hunt and seeing the Easter bunny and Sunday we're having our Easter lunch then they're back on the road for MI to get to work Monday....:sad2: Have an amazing Easter if I don't make it back to check in/catch up before then!

Good luck cleaning the house with little ones!:goodvibes I always feel like it's so unproductive but my DH says I'm fighting build-up! Still it's hard with 3 little girls and Barbies, Polly Pockets, dress up clothes, American Girl dolls and blocks everywhere!:sad2:

Have a great Easter too! My kids are fairly bursting with excitement for Sunday to come. :yay: I love when company comes to visit but I hate the cleaning up beforehand! Does that make me a bad hostess??

I agree, I love this thread! It's really enjoyable to read and I appreciate the courtesy everyone shows to each other. We've got both sides able to dialogue and express their thoughts about J&K and the little kiddos.:thumbsup2

Now, here's what I should be doing right now instead of lurking on the disboards...:laundy: It's like Expedition Everest in my basement!

Okay, I know this isn't Jon & Kate related..but it is Little People Big World related. The upcoming episode has Amy and Jacob going to space camp. Well my roommate Brandi that I had last year was a counselor at that camp and Jacob was in Brandi's camp roommate's group! Throughout the camp, they were not allowed to go up and talk to Jacob or Amy if the cameras were rolling. But, they did set aside time that you could talk to them if you wanted. Brandi said that Amy was prettier in person and down to earth and Jacob was shorter in person.

That's cool! I've always wondered why we never see people walk up to them, now we know. Amy seems like such an outgoing person that if someone walked up to her then I bet she would just carry on the conversation.

How old is Jacob...that shows confuses me with all the jumping around.

Jacob was born in 1997 so he's 12.

Someone struck a chord with me in one of the previous threads, and I thought I just throw this in here. The old "make hay while the sun shines" is an appropriate description of their situation. TV shows generally run until they are canceled and the stars (Seinfeld, MASH, Cheers being the exceptions) rarely pull the plug. But fame brings with it a price. I think of Sonny and Cher, even after being divorced, continuing the show for a season, seems silly, but it was their job and they needed the money. That's how they made a very good living.

So, should Jon and Kate set a goal, we're going to do this until we have saved XXXXX dollars and have fully funded college accounts for the kids, blah, blah, blah.... and then what? He goes and finds an IT job, and she goes back to nursing, or they sit around and look at each other, living off rerun royalties, interest from their investments, or t-shirts, or lunch boxes, or public appearances. They drank the koolaid of fame for fortune. There really isn't anywhere else to turn. None of them will likely ever have a normal existence for the foreseeable future, and that's the price they pay.

I caught a few minutes of this week's Duggar show ... they were going to some animal safari type place. The family went and helped out before they toured: cleaning, feeding animals, etc. Dad gave a talk about a servant's attitude. For as much as I don't agree with a lot of what the Duggars do .. it was wonderful to see that they continue to teach those children to give back, even while filming the TV show.

And I know they don't do that on every episode. The Duggars have taken plenty of trips without making a point of giving back. At least with this episode, we didn't see Jim Bob load up the kids, take them to a store where we're supposed to believe they buy/pay for the necessary supplies, then take them to the animal ranch, help with chores .. and then hand out promotional movie crap as they're leaving.
