TLC probably told Jon and Kate to get out in public and do some damage control, and what a better place than out in Hollywood.

Most people could not afford to move before their old house had sold. So, I don't think they are hurting for money one bit. TLC probably pays some of their bills since their house is the set for the show. So, that is money they probably use for the old house bills...which could be put into savings for the kids...but I digress.

It happens....we bought our house last May and there is a house in our neighborhood that has been for sale and empty since then. I've also personally known a few people that moved before their house sold.

I'm sure they aren't hurting for money either, but that doesn't mean they can't use coupons and try to keep what they have.

oooh, hmmm.. I remember in one episode, she mentioned them and said they "weren't involved but that didn't mean they didn't love each other"... What grandparents wouldn't want to see their own grandchildren?!I can't keep my mother away from my house, she has to see my daughter at least once a week!

Why would it be weird? If the production crew is busy interviewing the parents I'm sure childcare is arranged by TLC. Just because you don't see it why would we assume they are alone?

If we see you and your husband out for dinner we wouldn't assume your kids were home alone?

Nobody is assuming they are alone and I didn't say that they were alone.

Mr. Chow is pretty popular with celebrities, I've seen lots of pics of various ones coming or going.

EXACTLY! Someone had to tell them to go there (Mr. Chow).. THat place is on TMZ EVERY DAY, so obviously there's always paparazzi out there, what a perfect way to "catch" them being out together.

better than Hollywood? If she's missing her family .. and Jon's having trouble with his newfound celebrity status .. Hollywood is the last place they should go. LOL!

That is so true!! I (and my kids) see my parents every day, they had a hard time when we went to Disney in January! (well, to be fair we live right next door to them so we have a easier time seeing them everyday!) but my husband's parents we only see a couple of times a year and we live maybe 10 minutes away from them! So I totally agree with the family situations are complicated so I never gave it a thought about Jon and Kate's relatives!

See this drives me nuts. I am really trying not to come across as snarky but the "helper" was there. She had a black shirt on, you could see her in some of the shots....but just her hands/arms. You are by far not the only one, but it drives me nuts that nobody notices these things or listens to them talk and explain things.

And no, I do not study the show or rewatch it 10 times to pick up on these things. I watch the episode once. But it is no wonder things get blown way out of proportion when they explain things over and over and show things and people still miss it.

Sorry I didn't mean to imply that there wasn't anyone there with them. I think it was just weird that they only showed her arm (I remember seeing it because I thought her hand was very white - like a china doll or something - and wondered if she had a very fair complection...yes I'm weird I know) and no interaction with the kids. I'm just wondering how long before something's leaked about the baby sitter. You may be able to make her sign an agreement but if she's seen going to/coming from/out in public with them, I would think someone eventually would notice that they know her or something.....unless they live in a huge city and maybe she's not from there or something??? All it takes is one drunk uncle at a party to spill the beans!

Just a thought, but the tups will be five in May, right? I wonder if they'll hold them out an extra year. They could easily justify it, saying they were preemies and need to grow up a little more. Then they wouldn't be gone all day, and they could continue filming season five without worrying about the kids in school all the time. Just keep them in preschool an extra year, and there you have it. Problem solved.

Anyway, just something that occurred to me.

I would certainly hope they wouldn't hold the kids back for the show. That would be a truly selfish choice. Now if the school or another outside agency evaluated them and determined that all or some needed/should wait, that's another story.

But that is my point. They showed that clip when Kate was talking about the helper not wanting to be on TV. You could clearly see the helper was there, just not on camera (you could see her arms). They weren't making it seem like the kids were there without supervision. They were showing Kate's point that sometimes the helper is there and will not be seen on camera.

Could you imagine if they didn't address this now and in future episodes it would appear the kids were alone. People would be calling crying for CPS to get involved even though there was a perfectly good reason no adult was seen.

I think though that people that didn't see or don't recall this show will still ask/wonder what's going on and why the parents aren't around and it will have to be addressed again, at least when they come back in case anyone forgot or anything during the break. Again, I didn't mean to imply they were totally alone, I'd like to think TLC would call CPS at that point!

I think (now granted I said I think) that Kate said at one point they do the interviews once the kids are in bed/napping, something like that. If they're doing it when the kids are awake, that's kind of silly on their part. Just me, but when my kids are awake I like to be doing things with them especially if I've been gone as much as either one of them appears to have been as of late. I think I'd manage to keep myself up an extra hour or get out of bed sooner or something to have the time with my kids...again, that's just me. And maybe the kids enjoy the break with someone else....we may never know what "really" happens

Some people would probably assume that because those who know me know it's very hard for me to trust someone else with my kids. I don't honestly think they'd believe I left them home alone (they're 4 and 2) but they'd be shocked that's for sure!

It does happen. We moved from MI just over a year ago and our house sat empty for almost six months because we couldn't sell it. Granted we rented another house in SC when we moved but we went from supporting one house on two incomes to supporting two houses on one income until we sold that house and I got a job.

Oh, I know it happens when you buy a house and still have yours on the market. I personally could never afford to do that. We are one income family and budget tightly so we can enjoy vacations and eating out. I don't think we could budget two house payments though.

I'm just saying if anything their lifestyle has become more extravagant since they bought the new house, so carrying two houses has not changed their life at all like it would most.

I don't know if it's strange. It's no secret that their family income is based on speaking engagements and book signings along side the show's revenues.

She had some speaking engagements lined up and her husband went with her. Probably does them good to have some time to themselves without kids.

Just because she misses her kids doesn't mean she can get out of bookings. She may have an obligation with her publisher to do x number of book signings. And if you are selling a book and having another one come out it makes sense to have some press.

How do we know the kids weren't at the hotel w/ the "helper"? Missing your kids or not. It is important for the adults/parents to get "alone" time, away from the kids.

I am neither pro or con about this family, I don't really care either way. I just read a few posts here and did that because I saw the picture of the parents on TMZ coming out of Mr. Chow, very nice restaurant impossible to get reservations, really. Seems like these kids have more on their schedule than most adults. Why not just let kids be kids have a popsicle, play dress up, ride a bike and take a nap. That sounds much nicer to me
