I don't see how TLC will ant them for another season if they are having marital problems. That would be a whole different show, wouldn't it?

Probably, but with the latest comments from Jon,
I have a feeling he is back.
I think he took a stand and left to make Kate realize what is going on.

Remember in the beginning of February, Kate was making appearances with just the kids. The Morning Show and Access Holllywood.
Mady made a comment that she liked her dad more,
and Kate gave her the evil eye.
Then Mady said, "someone needed a spanking"
and Kate gave her the evil eye again.
Kate probably wants to prove to everyone she can do
it alone now.
But I wonder if the kids are along when she is doing these church outings.

They apparently signed on for another season, which starts in May.
This season filming ended right before Christmas.
Maybe that is why damage control is being done,
so they can start filming again.

I'm dead serious. My point here is, if you truly want to portray what its like having a big family, then do it like all of us do, with no help and no freebies. Tell us what it cost you to feed everyone at a show like that. Show us what its really like to take along that many kids and the struggles you face. I'm sick of everything being handed to her, its just too easy and SO not real. None of us can relate. THAT gets boring to me.

You're RIGHT ON!!! I'm sorry, but I don't want to watch them get special treatment on every single outing. If this is going to be a 'reality' program, then let's show some reality. It's not only boring, but it's simply not realistic IF you're professing to be a struggling family who shops sales, clips coupons, and is just like the viewers that watch the show. If they want to sell this show for what it truly is - about a large family that's hit it big and are living large, then fine. But, don't try to scam the viewers by not showing the size and scope of their new house, their real lifestyle with nannies, cooks, etc.

Kate complained about the show not holding the kid's attention - if she'd been closer to the stage like everyone else there's no reason 'almost 5 yr old's' shouldn't have been able to stay focused and enjoy the show - even without snacks! I think they went to the show simply because it was previously set up in their production/story meeting and not because it was something Kate would have ever planned and done on her own. Heck, she didn't even know where their seats were until she arrived -- this is a woman who's used to people handling all the details FOR her and all she has to do is show up (her speeches, book siginings, tv appearances, etc.).

To those concerned about the kids' safety.....Kate had plenty of help. At least 3-4 production people tagged along as well as her bodyguard, whom she never appears in public without. What they don't show on camera many times is more a part of the story than what they do show. ;)

They didn't stop filming around the holidays. They just didn't film the actual holidays. The visit to the vet really did happen in Feb, Jon and Cara were filmed in Utah skiing at the end of Jan.

You're right, they are filming the new season right now - it probably started when they took their trip to FL. continued thru spring break and will film full time thru the spring and summer.

The Sesame Street show they went to was 1/2/09. There was a thread back at that time because a DIS'er saw them at that show.

The vet episode with the puppies was early February. You could also see how much younger the puppies were in last nights episode compared to the vet episode.

The episode where they went back to the old house and finished moving out appeared to be between these two...sometime in mid to late January. The puppies were definitely bigger than last night in that episode plus Kate said it was January.

Just wanted to point out how out of order they show things.

ITA! I loved watching the way they USED to live. If it would have been like that, Kate would have waited to go with Jon, for the help. They would have packed snacks to save money and they would have had regular seats. This is just plain boring, and posing, too. Show the bodyguard, the helpers, etc. and call it 'the new lifestyle of jon and kate who struck it rich'.

Thank you for clearing that up. Do you think they will be signed for another season, given that most of the fans are onto the fact their lives are very different from what is shown on camera?

I love watching the old seasons. You can see the love that used to be between Jon and Kate. I would imagine it was way more stressful back then due to the kids ages than now and still you could see more happiness back then. I don't think anyone could disagree with that. Kate has turned into someone that I know I would not want to model myself after. If having money gets you an orange tan, white teeth, lipo suction, replacement hair, million dollar home but no love and friends.........I'll pass. I have seen the effects watching this family through the years and it is pretty plain to see.

Okay, I am starting to piece this together. I think Jon snapped and moved out. That is why we see him alone taking care of the kids while Kate is away, then alone with Cara skiing, why kate was happy to have all the kids under one roof again (Jon not living there, but taking one of her "flock" away for a while). Why Jon was seen partying it up.

My guess is they are separated but are hiding it from the public.

I agree. It all makes sense. Him staying with his mom and going to an off campus college house party (as reported), them appearing separately (him at Penn State, her at churches). No wonder she calls everything "mine" instead of "ours." Actually in her case it would be "ares."

Them on the couch has been strange for months. They use to be snuggled up. They haven't even touched each other, barely even looked at each other in the latest episodes I have seen. They have just not been shown together that much. Did she ever mention missing Jon or being glad he was back from Utah, or only Cara? She hasn't done her "oh honey" and touched his face or anything similar lately.

It is always sad when a marriage breaks down. I hope whatever happens is for the best.

Watch the way Jon looks at her on the couch after she says something (when he actually looks at her). He really doesn't hide his disgust in his facial expressions. Also, anyone see them on Oprah? Kate said something about it taking a LOT of money to raise this number of kids and Jon gave her a very quick look, it was a very telling look. I can't describe it but it wasn't a look in agreement. Maybe he thinks she's greedy.

I've always liked the show and liked the family -- but I could not live with Kate. I couldn't stand being constantly micromanaged and snapped at. Never knowing what I'm doing that is "wrong" to her and is going to send her into a fit. It would be like living on pins and needles all the time. That has got to be so stressfel.

I know they go to a very conservative "family values" kind of church. Has no one spoken with her about how her personality may be affecting her family? Wouldn't the pastor or someone talk with them?

I can reeeeally see how this family would breakdown. There is so much stress I actually feel tense when I finish watching an episode.

ETA: I know there are two sides to every story -- so perhaps there are things Jon does to push her buttons. But she sure seems to have an awful lot of buttons!!

I agree it would be more "real" to see Kate and the kids in the general seating and without all the freebies and assistance when they go to these places. However, I think it's a necessity due to the cameras and crew that they need to be placed in boxes and special rooms. Can you imagine the distraction for all the other people at the show if Kate, the kids, the sound guys, the camera guys, the producer, and the body guard all started milling around and filming next to you? I would assume they draw a crowd of people staring at them and asking for autographs and pictures and trying to the kids if they're in the general population. It would be a major distraction.

Plus, hasn't it been mentioned that if other people are in shots, they need waivers from all of them or they blur out the faces? When the family is in their own separate area, they don't have to deal with that hassle. I agree that it gets a little tiresome seeing the constant promotion of these events with meet-and-greets and gift bags, but I think there's also simply a practical aspect to the special placements the family receives when they go to these places and are filming.

We watch the show but if they turn this marriage rumor thing into some sort of publicity stunt then we're done. If they want to talk about it and address it that's fine but if it was done or allowed to be thought of as true just for publicity then that is just awful.

I don't think their marital problems are created for publicity .. I think they are having a rough time of it, and TLC is making the most of it by promoting a show that may or may not directly address recent rumors.

Seriously????? I can tell you that if I paid $$$ for my family to go to that show and a mom showed up with 7 children (6 of them under 5) in tow and sat near me with no help I would NOT have been happy. No matter how well behaved your kids are, that is asking a lot of one person (even two) to control.

I would imagine even if they weren't famous, it would be next to impossible to do outings like that without special treatment. Since they are famous, it is a safety issue as well. Even if the kids do get to sit in a luxury box and get some special treatment, I am glad that they are getting to experience some of these things and make these special memories. The kids can't help that their parents have them on TV or that they have 7 siblings.

ETA: And their seats weren't that great anyway in the luxury box, they were pretty far from the stage. I think it was more about containment.

I think you also have to factor in the logistics of the filming crew, when they do these kinds of outings. They can't just sit amongst people, it would be difficult to film that way.

You would think that Kate would want help when taking them on outings. It is sad that she doesn't have any friends or family that would go with her to see Sesame Street live.

you think she went to that show without help? I'm sure there was help .. we just didn't see it.

I agree with you Jillpie. Does every event with them have to first class?
It seems like every place they go includes a skybox, free food, a private meet and greet and goodie bags.

especially when Kate talks about doing normal things that other families do.

But I wonder if the kids are along when she is doing these church outings.

The kids didn't come to Kentucky. From what I understand, she was with one or two publicity types at lunch & Target, and was driving an SUV to get from one place to another.

Jon was quoted in an interview earlier this year saying they've got an option for seasons 6 and 7.

Kate has a new book coming out in April... probably a few weeks before season 5 starts.
