I also found it funny when Kate painted on the trim. All in all I thought she was very relaxed with the whole painting, I thought she would be much more uptight with it.

I mourned my Duets the entire episode. I  mine and miss them. When we moved to our new house we have a laundry closet upstairs and the Duets were too deep (couldn't shut the doors and they stuck out into the hallway). So I sold them too my brother and got Maytag Neptunes instead which I hate. I can totally believe that she could fit all the sheets in there.....those things are huge.

Did she put both sets in the laundry room? I only saw one set. I wonder if they have a laundry upstairs with the bedrooms and downstairs in the master?

Has anyone noticed how different she's been in the last few episodes?
Last night Kate was just sitting there all "frumpy and sad" looking.
My DD said she looked depressed. She is usually cheery, even though mostly obnoxious, but more excited than in the last few episodes.
I was thinking that she needed to sit up & talk more clearly. She just seemed so "blah".

She got snappy at Jon for "interupting" her. I guess she doesn't realize she always interupts him when he talks.

Interesting article.

I watched last night. I'm confused over why they would cover that beautiful hardwood with stone. My SIL had stone in her kitchen/dining room combo and it was a pain to clean, she had to seal it year after year, and it was slippery when wet (that phrase takes me back to the 80's!). I would kill for those hardwood floors.

I thought they mentioned something about wanting stone tile the way "rough" for the traction of running kiddos. I'd guess the wood floors would be slick for running feet? (I thought the wood was beautiful)

I was pretty sure the only room that they were putting stone in was the family room. It looked like it was by a backdoor, so maybe she was worried about wet kids coming in by the pool.

Two sets of w/d are extremely practical for a growing family. Once they are older, their clothes will take up much, much, more room. They could perhaps survive on one set now, but not later...

I have tile in my kitchen and would prefer it over wood floors. Just preference.

I saw on last week's episode the old refrig. is now next to the freezer. We've also had two refrigerators before, but one aged out and died. We had the backup one in the garage. I miss it terribly - especially around the holidays.

ETA - And really, when I think about it - who the heck wants to wait around all day on 3 loads of laundry/day - that's 6 sets of separate washing/drying cycles. That's a huge chunk of your day housebound, chained to your laundry room. Good for her for being able to afford both sets...or if they were donated, good for her anyway. Her chore burden is so much heavier than any of us will ever have to suffer.

We are a family of 4 and sometimes I wish we had two W & D.

They showed them in the basement discussing tile, so I assumed that the tile was for the walk-out basement (by the backdoor) and the bathroom.

To me it looked like the fridge was in the unfinished part, unplugged. Last night they showed a white fridge in the basement in the kitchenette.

I too thought she said "sheets" last night when discussing the w & d.

I've noticed that too. She just doesn't seem as happy and excited as she used to in the interviews. She used to be really kinda giddy at times and they were both somewhat more "loving" to each other during the interviews, and it's just been different for the last few. They're (especially Kate) is acting like it's more of just a job, and maybe she's not having as much fun with it as she used to:confused3 or maybe she's just tired.

Eight children, all pre-school/elem. age...6 of them experiencing exact same age-related issues at once...just moved into a new large home and trying to get settled.

I'm gonna go with she's tired.

She seems really bored. I think she actually yawned during the interview last night.

She did say the manufacturer says you can wash 16 pairs of jeans. But that she can get all 8 sets of sheets in one load. Wow! We have a new electrolux but I don't think I could get 8 sets of sheets in one load.

I know the show is about a family just being a family but I hate when they explain the simplest tasks to us. When they were moving how they went on and on about how they packed boxes, labeled what was in the boxes, knowing what was in the boxes at the new house and knowing what room to put the boxes in because the box was labeled. I think everyone who moves does that. We moved, needed a new washer, got stainless steel because that's what the other appliances were, we really wanted them to match. Oh look, it matches! Well, duh, everyone would like their appliances to match.

She was very annoyed in the interview chair. I loved when she said Jon always talks over above me.

Does anyone know what kind of puppies they are getting?

I think they are german shephard puppies. I think someone said they saw on interview with Jon where he said they are german shephard puppies and at least one is a girl. I think the info was posted a few pages back.

Aren't they still in the "moving in" stage during these interviews? Probably has a lot to do with that.

Over top! Haha!! I liked that, too. She always makes fun of Jon for his weird phrases, and she busted that one out.

Sounds like I should have watched last night! :headache: I'll have to catch a rerun. I'm sure Kate will be exhausted for the next several shows (maybe into the next season - I don't know how they run) with all of the interviews and everything else she's been doing. I don't fully believe that's an "excuse" though. I may be dog tired from working all day, cleaning my house, cooking, whatever but when I have an obligation (in her case an interview which she knows she has to do!) I try my hardest to turn it on full force and be me - not the tired me. I'd have a hard time not doing that especially if they were paying me (either through my kids or with free products or whatever). Those people are there to talk to me and they deserve my full respect and polite attention - no being crabby and yawning. JMO for sure. And if Jon's the one staying home with the kids, he's the one who should be exhausted by the time it's time to sit down and interview right? I'm sure Kate's getting some rest and having her "me" time during her travels (didn't someone just mention Jon saying she now has spa time quite often???).

totally agree with the bolded. this is Kate's JOB. she chose to make the show her life and the life her show. Deal with it, suck it up, and show some spunk in the interview chair.

or move on to the yearly update and give up the interviews altogether.

but is it her job to show spunk, or to show how it really is? I think her exhaustion/weariness in the interviews is to be expected. and while I'm fairly new to the show (started watching in the fall), my understanding is that is what it is...showing what life is like for them, good and bad.

But, Margie, her job is to be herself, not to be fake Kate. If real Kate is tired, bored, whatever, that's what I expect to see.

Margie?!

after all these months? Margie? Seriously? :upsidedow

Anyway... if Kate is bored or tired, then they need to find a time to film when she's not. I find that terribly disrespectful to the people who have invested themselves in loving this family/show. The fans that have made JK8 what it is deserve better.

PS. I don't, for one second, believe what is seen on TV is the real Kate. I never have. (not a shock to anyone here, I'm sure)
