Jon and Kate Plus 8 official Thread, Part 2!!

If you watch the two little kids are both seated next to Jon in the FRONT of the boat and Cara was in the back on her knee's facing forward.

I did notice that ~ and immediately thought that it was an unsafe thing to do. Mostly Cara up on her knees facing forward. It just didn't seem like a good idea. Now I know, the likelihood of an accident in a paddle boat is probably small .. and maybe this is just me, but I always err on the side of caution when I'm in a boat. You just never know what can happen.

OK, this may just be me and my military family/old-fashioned upbringing, but if a grown-up tells you to do something (within reason, of course)...you do it. Whether or not there's a reason to do it, you just do it. It drives me crazy when I call kids and they yell "What?" Come to me, and you'll find out! Or "Why?" when they're asked to do this or that. Just do it. Now, I was spoiled as a kid. Possibly spoiled rotten. And, yeah, occasionally I got the whiny attitude with my mom (dad had passed away), but when my grampa told me to do something, you better believe I did it in record time.

ETA: I also remember my school having a rule that read something like: Students must comply with all reasonable requests.

Sign of the times, I guess. And, I'm not "old," either!! I must have an old soul. I was the only 5th grader with Frank Sinatra in my walkman. Yes, walkman.

I swear, the one thing that drives me crazier than anything is when my kids yell huh or what when I call them. I just sit quietly until they come ... and they've learned, the longer it takes them to come find out why I've called, that it might not be a good thing. ;)

The other thing that made me sad in this week's episode - one of the boys wanted Kate to watch him put his face in the water, blow bubbles or something to that effect. All Kate did was tell him to get into the deeper water so he wouldn't hit his head again.

:confused3 so warning your child to not hit their head is a bad thing?
Remember the show is heavily edited. Don't assume she didn't watch him blow bubbles once he was at a safe depth.
If they had shown him hittign his head you would be sa because she was standing right there and didn't say anything to him to stop him from hitting his head.

Not a big fan of Kate - no secret there - but I do have to give her a couple of compliments..

First of all, when she is seated on the couch speaking (not screaching at John), I love the way she enuciates her words so carefully.. In that particular setting, she speaks quite eloquently..:thumbsup2

I didn't get to see them renew their vows in Hawaii, but on the commercials they are running on tv right now there is a snippet of her walking with one of the older twins in front of her.. She looks beautiful in that flowing, white gown (great choice) and has a gorgeous smile! :thumbsup2

One other comment - just an observation.. Has anyone else noticed that normally her posture is rather hunched over? (Not a criticism..) I'm wondering if that is a result of carrying 6 babies at once.. I can't imagine it was very easy for her to stand up straight..:confused3

the way Kate did it, it was.

"Great job honey! But why don't you move a little so you won't hit your head?"

that wouldn't have been hard to say at all.

maybe I would say that, maybe I wouldn't. It would have to depend on what I saw.

the vow renewal show hasn't aired yet.

My kids know that God loves them....but often, when they do something I've told them not to do...then they get hurt...I will say,"God got back at you!" It is always an odd moment...the kids are amazed that since they didn't listen they were hurt...it makes them think a minute.

You didn't miss the vow renewal. The actual renewal episode isn't on until November 17. Next week they are in Hawaii before the vow renewal. Part of the episode will be the girls learning how to hula. That should be cute!

Thanks! I'll have to try to remember to watch it.. She looks so pretty in the commercial.. Hope someone posts a head-up here on the DIS on the 17th so I don't miss it.. :)

For those that wanted to know what the song is during the commercials on TLC's jon & kate's wedding....its 'Beautiful Life' by Fisher :)

I agree. I'm usually a big defender of the entire show, including Kate, but I agree that the way she did it wasn't that great. He was so excited to show her and then I felt like she was making him feel like it wasn't good enough ect. It was a very small thing, and I've caught myself not always acting as enthused as I should when my kiddos want to show me something, and I'm sure with 8 it's a ton harder, but I agree that it didn't come off very nice.

I'll have to think about Kate's comment about how God builds in punishments, sometimes, too. You didn't obey the family helper and you fall and hit your head ... that's God's way of punishing someone? Hmmm....

I just want to comment on this. When I was brought up, that was always something said in my house. "See? God punished you" because it was usually something that happens right after I misbehaved or didn't listen to my parents. Nothing serious, just enough to make you think. Example, I'd get yelled at for talking back to my mother, I'd turn around to leave and stub my toe on the wall. It was term to prove to us that God didn't like what He just saw and punished me. Because He is watching, always.

When Colin fell and didn't end up injuring himself badly, that's exactly what I thought before Kate said it. God punished him for not listening to Jenny and hitting her.

My 2 Cents.:goodvibes

Looking forward to tonight's episode. Hopefully after tonight, they will stop playing that cheezy commercial leading up to the Hawaii show where it begins with Jon having a huge grin on his face.:rotfl:

Considering that this is just the first part of the Hawaii episode and the fact that the actual vow renewal isn't until next week, I'm sure they will continue to show the commercials.

No, its not until next week. Tonight is when they first arrive in Hawaii. Part of the episode will be the girls learning to hula.

boy, they are dragging this out for all it's worth, aren't they?! wow.

It's all about the publicity. Why show in one episode what you can stretch out into three. ;)

The hula lessons I'm sure will be cute

The episode write up on Comcast says the following:

"The family finally arrive in Hawaii after several long days of traveling."

huh, :confused3 several long days, they vacationed for 5 days at a luxury resort in San Diego wth is that about wonder if Kate wrote the episode synopsis
