Wouldn't you love to hear a Mady interview? She can definitely be a stinker, but I like that kid! She is brutally honest and she has spunk. I think she's the ONLY person that renders Kate speechless, and that Kate is unable to fully control. This is Mady at age 8- can you even imagine her as a teenager????

I think she is brutally honest and a hoot! I hope Mady writes a book, I'll definately buy the book and I won't even use discount coupons.

brutally honest, but without being able yet to grasp right from wrong. I don't think that it's cute. She is very disrespectful to her mother. Regardless of what you think of Kate, no child should be speaking to their mother like that. She was very quick to say that Alexis needed to be spanked, but there is no acceptance that her own actions are wrong (kicking Alexis repeatedly in the back on the last episode). I think a lot of her comments come from wanting attention and she is getting it in all the wrong ways. This isn't something new either. Remember the Christmas episode where Mady drew a picture of the family. She only included Jon and Kate, herself and Cara.

If the kids don't want to participate in interviews, they shouldn't be forced to. However, that is no excuse for Mady's continued nastiness. If Kate were smart, she would just leave her home when they do these things, because obviously Mady is not interested in it. I'm curious to know where Jon was.

I agree w/ this. No child should talk to her parents in that way BUT Kate and Jon chose to live this life so I think they deserve what they get. Its unfortunate for all of those kids. Maybe Kate needs to change her mothering skills and quick!

OK, I finally watched the bedroom lecture. Sort of like Gumgate for me. Lots of hype, but not nearly as bad as people made it out to be. That's just how to talk to a group of kids that age. I taught pre-school before moving to the public school system, and that's the norm. In a group setting, you have to get and keep everyone's attention. Repitition is also a normal tactic. I know I spoke to my students like that.

"If you throw toys again, you will have to take a break."
"OK."
"What happens if you throw toys?"
"We have to take a break!"
"Toys need to stay on the floor (table, whatever). Do not throw them."

I don't think Mady is as bad as many people on the boards. I do think she is a handful and probably is the child that Kate doesn't know what to do with. I think when you have lots of kids, most families have at least one that sort marches to their own beat.

I thought Mady's behavior was a little over the top on the CBS interview. It kind of reminded me of Kelly Ripa. She often says the best way to get her daughter to do something is for her (Kelly) to ask her to do the exact opposite. :) I think the trick is recognizing that. It seems like Kate does...she often hands off dealing with Mady to Jon when she is at her most difficult. Probably a really good idea. Some kids are just determined to swim against the current. If I have one of those I just hope I can make the waters more pleasant for all of us:upsidedow

Sorry, but I think people make too many excuses for Mady. She needs to learn right and wrong and stop acting like a brat.

Anyone see "The Parade Magazine" in your local paper today?

Someone asked where the grandparents were.
It also said, many online discussion boards said, they are not
involved in their lives.

The parade said, Jon's father has passed away and his mother does not live near them.

Then it said, Kate's parents choose not to be involved. And Parade took it as being involved in the Reality Show, and that meant involved or not involved in their daily lives. Parade really didn't know.

Why is the show getting so much publicity lately.
Isn't the new series done for the season?

Something I was watching (maybe the Utah interview) addressed both sets of grandparents and other family members. Basically what Parade said (haven't read it, just going of PP), but that Kate's parents just want to be drop-in grandparents, and they are like that will all of their grandchildren. Jon's mom remarried and moved, and she preferred not to be on camera when visiting.

I attribute a lot of the publicity to the internet buzz, honestly. These people who think they're downing them are actually helping them.

That's absolutely true. To be down on something and devote an entire Website to it -- they are definitely helping this family and show thrive. I'm talking about the GW/o PIty site.

I don't think so. In this one, which is even worse than the early show, in my opinion, Kate says "no, we can't go home." Mady says she thinks Alexis needs a spanking. Thank you for your help! Why do they show these things? Maybe paying no attention to the cameras, as J&K claim about their brood, is not such a good thing?

When I click on the link, I don't see the video. Can anybody help?

I finally watched the "New House" episode. I must be oblivious, because I didn't see the big deal about (a) Kate spending hours trying to get mold (yuck!) out of the refrigerator or (b) the "Bedroom Lecture" (ominous music). I guess she wanted to drive home that they were no longer permitted to use the bedroom as an extension of the playroom.

I admit, I don't have kids or a master bedroom, so I'm not an expert on these things.

I didn't see anything wrong with her cleaning the fridge either. I think any new house you move into should be scrubbed. You don't know what people did or what they left in there. I don't care if the former owner was a doctor. If it was dirty, it was dirty. She has to put her family's food in there. She has a right to clean it. I would have been scrubbing the floors too. It grosses me out to think that strangers were walking on those floors without shoes on. Bathrooms too. My butt wouldn't go on anything until I bleached it down. :rotfl2:

The thing I thought was funny with the bedroom speech was that Kate had to keep calling them back in to tell them they weren't allowed in there. I think, with the size of this house, the kids will have enough places to "hang out" and they won't need to spend time in J&K's room.

Totally off topic, but I hope they get a horse for that barn.

I don't have a problem with her cleaning the refrigerator.
I spend almost 2 hours cleaning my out and scrubbing it out.

But they brought the kids over to see the house for a few hours.
Kate should have spent that time, exploring the house with the kids.
Jon took the kids outside to explore everything and Kate wasn't around.
Usually I defend Kate and her actions, but not this time.

First I see the commercial and then a video - but definitely not Kate. :scratchin

Yeah, I don't either. It's something I think about the guy who climbs really tall buildings.

Well I should have looked through all the posts first. I saw the youtube video, thanks!

I wish that Kate would've spent more time exploring with the kids too. I loved how excited they were!
