Jon and Kate Plus 8 official Thread, Part 2!!

I don't really post on this thread, but I do read it on occation. I used to watch the show on a regular basis. I stopped watching last year. I just got really turned off by the way Kate was acting, especially to Jon. It just seemed so disrespectful. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so. It became too painful to watch, so I just stopped watching. I can see that their ratings would suffer.

She is painful to watch. I know this is playing unqualified armchair psychologist--but I've wondered more than once if the experience of carrying higher order multiples can affect personality with some women. Maybe the occasional mother to be in this situation receives (of course necessarily) a tremendous amount of attention during the risky pregnancy. That amount of attention may become something they crave, and they find ways to get it well after birth. In this case, it's TV and appearing to be the reigning queen bee of the family unit.
I've noticed, before I finally had enough, that Kate blasts through family, friends, even volunteers, she really doesn't seem to work well with others. Sharing the limelight seems to be impossible for her. It's a sad situation for the whole family. :sad2:

DId anyone watch the J&K mini marathon last night on TLC? It was mostly the episodes where they were re-doing the kids rooms and the carpeting, etc... They also were searching for their new house. When they went to look at some of them,Kate said "we can not afford a big house just for the utilities alone." wow how times have changed!!
Kate also, even though she's was still nasty, was soooo different back then. And that was only a year or 2 ago. Anyone else notice this?
Oh I loved when the nice volunteers misspelled proceeds. Wow, is that really necessary to get that angry?
"What were these people thinking"
Well, Kate, they did it on purpose to annoy you.
I also loved when the tables were not to her standards.
YOU ARE VOLUNTEERING STOP COMPLAINING!!

Oh, forgot to mention. I just watched Table for 12 last night. Holy cow is that show boring! The tups are roughly the same age as the Gosselins, but they weren't nearly as cute/funny/interesting. Now part of that may be that they haven't been in front of cameras most of their lives, but still.....

How in the world do they afford that house with 12 kids? It looked pretty big and nice to me (nicely remodeled kitchen). Does she work? He is a cop and NJ is a very expensive state to live in. I just found that to be a little odd. What is the story there?

I found the parents to be funny when they were together, but alone they were so dull. They seem like a nice enough family though. I will watch a few more weeks to give it a chance, but love or hate them, the Gosselins are entertaining.

I'm from NJ, looked like a normal house to me. Cops make alot of money. (Edited to rephrase) THey make alot after they've gotten to the top of the pay scale.

Yeah, it is amazing how different they are now. I watched the pumpkin patch episode the other day (may have been the first episode of the series) and man, if I didn't know better I would think it was a different family. The kids are the same but Kate especially is totally different.

all this is stuff I've heard after the fact. From friends that went to the later service, book signing, or volunteered at the event. I didn't go to lunch at the same restaurant, LOL .. but I know a couple of people that did. both fans of Kate.... well, one is now a former fan, the other still watches the show because the kids are adorable.

and to be fair, I talked to someone else who saw Kate at Target after lunch/before the book signing, and Kate did agree to a picture and made a little small talk. This person was unable to get tickets to the church thing and was thrilled to meet Kate. She said Kate was fine.

Kate couldn't get out of the church lot fast enough and became very frustrated no one would tell her how to get out of there.

The stuff I've heard around town since Kate's appearance has been consistent with my experience. A few people (like one or two) thought she was great, but mostly people use words like flat, uninspiring, disappointing, etc. The first thing most people mention is they can't believe she didn't even say thank you.

What happened here is not unlike many other accounts from different cities posted. I don't believe her behavior was an isolated thing.

And really, that's all I have to say about that. LOL.

I thought they were extremely boring too....and I won't be watching.

Caught the furniture store re-run last night. Holy guacomole. I had seen it before, but that has got to be the worst ever. Why oh why were those kids there? Was it Collin with the severe bathroom issues? He was actually crying for her in the store as she was engrossed in furniture catalogs. Jon said,"Don't bother, she won't help you." Then they lauged and laughed on the (then happy) couch about Jon using a grocery bag to "help" Collin with his bm in the wide open cargo part of the van in the parking lot of a retail business with other children gawking. That was disgraceful and disgusting...I felt so sorry for them all. The kids were miserable and the parents appreared foolish. Real sanitary situation too. Kate the nurse/germaphobe? Not so much. Will these kids end up alright? I can't imagine what that house is really like if this is what is chosen to show the public. okay, I feel a little better. :headache:

Oh I agree. I don't think it is a big, extravagent house, especially for 12 people. And I know cops in parts of the country get paid very well (not here though). I would think he makes at least $150k. But when you are supporting 10 kids (with one having special needs) in an expensive part of the country, I just can't figure out how they afford it on his salary. They seem to be pretty normal family (kids have DS's, they eat out, etc) so how do they afford it?????

Didn't they get their house through extreme home makeover or something similar? All of these high order multiples are running together. :rotfl:

This is the episode that sent me to the internet looking for more. It really was a turning point for me with this show.

I did notice that it looked like the house was on a busy road, that probably would make the house value less than if it was on a quiet street.
Depending on if he does night differential, or is a seargent, or more, i could see him making $150K, especially if he does overtime, DH is a cop and overtime is usually time and a half... He's NYPD though.

I don't give any credit to hear-say... i know the results when you play "telephone". I really wouldn't say that she yelled at the church volunteers or that she told people not to even think about about talking to her unless you heard it with your own ears. Slander is a terrible thing.

Yikes:scared1:, im glad my parents weren't being video taped on our long road trips when we couldn't find a rest stop and i had to pull over on the interstate and pop a squat. I guess that'd be child nudity in public and unsanitary situation.

The ratings for Monday night is what im talking about.... just like you said- youd be surprised if they arent higher.

are Monday's ratings posted somewhere? all I can find are the nightly ratings for the networks. nothing on the cable shows.

I want to say I read the JK8 ratings were at their highest around the time of the wedding episode.

I'm not sure you get it. He didn't use the dicarded grocery bag from the van to dispose of the bm... he used it as a rubber glove.
